Valley marine calls himself to duty at an Elementary school. Sgt. Craig Pusley wears his desert camo fatigues...no weapons...just him. Took it upon himself to go to the nearby school and stand watch outside. The school loved it. The principal thanked him. No pay..no breaks...just his heart felt need to do this. His reward? Marine Corp Reservists says he violated protocol bt wearing his fatigues and not his dress uniform in public. Facing $10,000 fine and 5 years in prison. Also getting a "dishonorable" stamp on his "honorable" discharge.
He served 2 tours in iraq, in Baghdad and Ramadi. One in Helmand province of Afghanistan before leaving active duty.

Now he is writing a letter to the President apoligizing for his actions.

WAKE UP! This man is a wonderful outstanding brave hero in my book and to think for a second that his heart felt need to go stand in front of his little neighborhood school was wrong. Screw you! The President should be sending him a Thank you letter.

So I salute you Sgt. Craig Pusley. Thank you!

This is something I would like to see go viral. Let's stand up and say Thank you to this man who didn't think twice...he followed his heart and there is no crime in doing that

P S this is a copied story i'm sympathetic towards not punishing the soldier

Perhaps harsh, but there's protocol and rules for reasons. Off duty cops can't take it upon themselves to walk around in uniform and stand guard outside lil Sally's math class. It was a nice gesture, but if there's rules in place, what was to stop him from going out in his dress uniform?

My son was in the Marines so I do know that they are not allowed to wear their uniforms (except dress uniform) anywhere except on the base or to and from if they don't get out of their car. They are not allowed to fly in them with the exception of flying on a military plane, as when he came back from Iraq. And they are very serious about it.

If he was an active duty military, then he would have known he was going to get into big trouble.

When I read this story, he was already out of the Marines and had pulled his uniform out of storage.

Now what he was doing it so right in my eyes but the uniform thing, don't know about that.

I'm almost afraid to reply to this, considering the reactions from the gun thread, and to me, this is directly related to that, and holds some of the same problems, but I'll have a very careful go at it anyway.

Not so much the uniform thing, because I guess rules are rules, and he should be aware of that, but I'll just say this....

If I saw a soldier, no matter how he was dressed, but clearly a soldier, and whether he was armed or not, inside or outside my kids school, I would find that highly problematic in itself, whether he was put there, or had taken it upon himself to be there.

LaHutti,

Uniform aside, this was first posted not as a soldier at a school but as a daddy giving his child a sense of security.

Children of soldiers in the US are raised to believe that their fathers/mothers are special and that they can do anything. They protect the world and as such, daddy standing outside school would give his child a sense of security.

I don't see anywhere that his 3 yr old attends that school

sure
I've seen ANOTHER article pre-dating this about a soldier defending his child's school, but not this guy, which is what THIS thread is about

Is is really necessary to yell? I know what this thread is about. And I answered Rockycatt's original posting.

This pic and several more like it are circulating around the internet. Each one has a different soldier but the theme is the same.

Rockycatt, sorry if I got off topic.
