This is the sort of crap I dont get that just leads to confusion:

Following an in-depth analysis of the situation and extensive legal consultation, bwin has decided to comply with the new legislation and will no longer accept any new US-resident customers for its real money gaming products, effective immediately

"...decided to comply with the new legislation" ? Huh? That just makes people think they made online gambling illegal. No wonder everyone's panicing!

The more I think about this whole situation, the more absurd it seems. All the wannabe president did was say that banks and financial institutions can't process gambling transactions! Strange.

Oasis Casino has now excluded US players.

BETCORP LIMITED

NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS

13 OCTOBER 2006

At 10.00am Friday October 13th, US Eastern time, President George Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006, bringing that Act into force.

As a result, and in accordance with the advice of its lawyers, Betcorp Limited has suspended all US-facing operations, pending further analysis of the Acts final text and receipt of further legal advice.

This means that, until further notice, it will not be possible for US residents to place wagers or make deposits on, or make withdrawals from, any website owned or operated by any company in the Betcorp group. This account freeze will remain in place until such time as Betcorp has fully assessed its legal position.

Betcorps websites will continue to accept deposits and wagers from, and process withdrawals for, all customers other than US residents in the ordinary course of business. Betcorp currently has customers in some 87 countries other than the US.

The Board and Executive Management of Betcorp are committed to ensuring that all US customers will have access to their accounts restored as soon as possible.

Betcorps help lines and online inquiry services for all Group websites will continue to operate, with additional staff being deployed to handle US customer inquiries. Betcorp will keep all customers informed of developments.

"From Monday the 16th of October the following partners will not be accepting NEW players but will allow existing players from the United States to continue playing."

Translation: "We know the old players aren't cops. Gotta shut the door on the Man."

What kind of lawyer advises this?

You think that's bad, check out this "article":

Old / Expired Link

Focus on the Family Action Gambling Analyst Chad Hills today issued the following statement response to President Bush signing into law the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, which was included in the Safe Port Act:

"By approving this legislation, our government has protected the nation's families from predatory online casinos, which have addicted many Americans, especially college students.

"We thank Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Sen. Jon Kyl, Rep. Jim Leach and Rep. Bob Goodlatte for persevering for seven years to see this legislation enacted. Through their efforts and those of many others, foreign online casinos will no longer mock federal and state laws already prohibiting online gambling. It's clear that Congress and our president have put the best interests of American families ahead of the gambling cartel."
What a crock!

Golden Reef ok

Golden Reef has been ok for me. last night they let me sign up and give funds through instadebit, but again, Im in PA and dont know if it makes a difference

Just jumping into this thread real quick-like. NJ and NY are included with the ban because these are two states where actual cases were aggressively pursued - one was the Paypal incident (NY). I can't recall what the NJ issue was.

Incidentally, I was told during the conference (the EIG - I just got back) that all but two states have laws somewhere on the books that prohibit online gambling of one form or another. (I think it was Montana and Wyoming, but I'm not 100% sure).

Who - Trident or Kiwi, Mousey? Trident still take US (though with the 11 State restriction like all MG's). I haven't seen anything "official" from Kiwi and I've been at pains to verify every entry on the list before I add them. All I have seen so far is:

US players will be able to sign up and play at our properties until the Federal Unlawful Gaming Enforcement Act is signed into law,

...from a few days ago which indicates you are right as of now.

It may just have slipped by me but I'll go dig around.

Casinos and USA players

This is just a real shame :( more and more freedom has been taken away from us. At the rate things are going the United States we will become a communist country. Here is a link i found Old / Expired Link

I understand that we have a issue of terrorism, but we cant live our lives in fear and take away the freedoms given to us. We have the right to do what we choose to in our own homes. IMO taking away the many freedoms or rescrictions we have seen over the past few years is like letting terrorist win!

Making online gambling ilegal wont slove the issues we have in the USA. If they want to get rid of gambling then stop the lottery to! after all that is used to fund schools, talk about a bunch of hypocrites

I dont think this law really has much to do with the corruption they claim it is casuing. Why is it that the USA goverment wants to spend time and money on prohibition of gambling online. (will liquor be next??)

Dont they have other issues that are far more important than telling people that they cant have some entertainment in there own home??
What about the need for more jobs, starving people, war on drugs, provinding better healthcare for the eldery...I have been at the pharmacy and it breaks my heart to see a eldery person have to spend $100's just to buy the medication they need to stay alive. What about all the pedifiles online?? I guess they feel online gambling is more of a threat than protecting children online. This list could just go on and on.
Well that is my rant lol

BTW here is another casino that is restricing players from some states:

This is from Kiwi a couple of days ago.....

Hi XXXXXX,

Due to the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act coming into effect we regret to inform you that your Kiwi Casino account has been closed for all deposits, and we ask that you login and withdraw your balance.

We're as frustrated about this as no doubt you are, and ask again that you to join us in voicing your disapproval to your local congressman and signing up at Link Removed (Old/Invalid)

We also wanted to remind you that you can continue playing within the Kiwi Gaming network at a site set up for our US players called Kiwi Skill and we'll give you $6 FREE when you sign up!

Kiwi Skill offers over 100 exciting skill based games featuring both single player & multi player games as well as million dollar tournaments

For more information on some of these challenging games keep reading.

It goes on about their "skill" games within the Kiwi Gaming Network that would still be available to US players. But the regular casino is closed to US.

And here's another one...

Acropolis.. I wondered why I couldn't download this casino anymore (problems with them started about a week before this even got signed) and they sent me this:

And from Fast Win (Kiwi's sister) ... Dated 10/13/06.

Hi xxxxx,

Well, it actually happened. The Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act has been signed into law! What this means to you is that FastWin Casino is no longer allowed to let U.S. based people to deposit into their FastWin accounts anymore :(

Any money you have in your account is still there and it waiting for you to log in and withdraw it. You are not breaking the law by doing this.

Our hands are tied, we're as frustrated about this as you are. .....

And thanks so much for this list, Simmo!. Even though I'm sure it's a royal pain to try to keep updated it is indeed a big help to those of us affected by this stupid legislation.

Powerbet sent me an email about players not being allowed in the 9 states. The other Doleplex casinos probably are doing this as well. This is the first I've heard of RTG casinos limiting specific states.

Prism/Slots of Vegas (another RTG) took a different approach:
"Are you concerned about the Legislation that passed in the US ?

Is this the reason you haven’t been gambling online?

Well Prism Casino provides uncoded accounts for our customers meaning the credit card transactions do not appear as gambling transactions so you have no worries! "

That's just what I'd expect from them.

Affirmative, aka... I received the same email from American Grand (and the infamous Oliver Curran). For anyone wondering, I haven't played at any of these casinos in forever... :p

Dear xxxx
User Name/Player ID: xxxxxxxxx

Due to recent changes in some states, we regret to inform you
that we will no longer be able to accept players resident
in the following states:

*Illinois
*Indiana
*Louisiana
*Michigan
*Nevada
*Oregon
*South Dakota
*Washington
*Wisconsin

Due to these changes in the law, which are totally out of our control,
we have had to cease all gaming activity from these states. Unfortunately
we will no longer be able to either accept bets or engage in funds transfers
with any of these states.

To all our loyal members who reside in these states we wish to thank you
for your loyalty over the years and we wish you the very best in the future.

We also wanted to remind you that you can continue playing within the Kiwi Gaming network at a site set up for our US players called Kiwi Skill and we'll give you $6 FREE when you sign up!

Watch out for that Kiwi Skill "$6 FREE" offer. If you start winning, they stop you from playing and you get a message that you have to deposit to continue. Then when you try to deposit, there are several states that are excluded. I wasted about two hours.

I was looking for some information on this legislation and ran across this.

You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.

Read this too, the other articles in this link are also very enlightening. The financial institutions have nearly 9 months (270 days) to get their ducks in a row, surely someone will get a brain and figure out a better way.

Mansion is now closing the casino and sports book to US as of a few minutes ago (site update in progress). Peer to peer sections open. All standing bets are supposed to be honored and they claim they will not have to hold players' money like some book(s) have done.

Maxima Casino (Playtech) -- closed to all U.S. as of Oct. 17. Email arrived today.

TO OUR VALUABLE PLAYER, xxxxx

WE REGRET TO INFORM YOU THAT DUE TO THE US LEGISLATION ACT WE ARE NO LONGER ABLE TO TENDER OUR SERVICES TO THE PLAYERS RESIDING IN THE UNITES STATES OF AMERICA.

WE WILL THEREFOR BE FORCED TO BLOCK ANY GAMBLING TRANSACTIONS FROM US RESIDENTS
FROM 17 OCTOBER 2006.

IT IS A PLEASURE TO HAVE YOU AS OUR CUSTOMER

Yeah, as Casinomeister stated there are already laws on the books in most states. (And I'm sure if there aren't there will be in most states soon as state legislatures can move pretty fast), but I think the real issue isn't even the law. There are lots of laws that everyone violates the hell out of every day.

I think the real issue is that prosecutors around the country now all have their eyes on gambling organizations. Some of these prosecutors are going to want to make a name for themselves by taking down rich foreign casino execs. The temptation will be too much as these execs are sitting ducks. All the autorities need to do is sign up for an account and gamble. No witnesses, no loopholes, no O.J .juries... the police themsevles can do it over and over again and document every step - an open and shut case.

I garantee some of the folks taking the risk will wind up with their heads on the wall of some self-promoting prosecutor like so many deer antlers.

I don't want to make yall lose hope, but I think the whole U.S. market will be out of play by next summer and a few folks are going to get hit.

The law itself doesn't mean much, but I think you're going to start seeing prosecutors take action... and that's the heavy part.

I think I'm going to continue listing reputable casinos where US players can play, but not linking to them and certianly not taking affilaite money from a US account.

OK, but how are these execs going to be taken down by zealous prosecutors, so long as they avoid ever coming to the U.S.? I don't see any foreign government cooperating to extradite them to the U.S. either.

I don't see any foreign government cooperating to extradite them to the U.S. either.
I wouldn't be 100% sure of that... international law is a funny thing. Just look at the case of Dog the Bounty Hunter... the U.S. arrested him there in the U.S. to extradite him to MEXICO becuase he violated Mexican law when he went there to catch a US fugative and bring him back to the U.S.

That said, you're probably right... it would be hard to arrest them but even so... a lot of these execs have a lot of US assets that could be frozen. They wouldn't be able to play the US stock market, visit Vegas, ski in Aspen. They'd have to worry every time they travel about extradition. People would treat them like pariahs. Not fun.

Don't get me wrong, I hope they stay in. As I said in another thread, the only shot there is left is for an exec to get arrested and beat the case.

It's just a really unsafe environment for Americans to stay in.

I think even for US affilaites it's dangerous and Casinomeister made a logical move grounded in reality.

I think American affilaites would be wise to follow this lead really.... Just imagine they do nab a casino exec or two and in order to get a reduced sentence, he/she/they turn over a complete list of affilaites, playments, dates etc.. In a normal case, say, a drug case, you need the underlings to get the big guy, but here things could easily work backwards.

Seriously, its not incoceivable that even posts in these forums could be used as evidence.

Scary s*** ....

Actually, I received an email this morning (I knew I shouldn't have deleted it..but so many were piling up of casinos that sent announcements they were closed) that XXL is "closing its doors" to players in the U.S.

Got an email from Casino King I don't ever remember playing there...looks like Playtech. Casino Las Vegas Group. Why does it say Riverbelle on the bottom of their website? Are they affiliated in some way?

Another Playtech bites the dust... La Isla Bonita

Dear xxxxxx,

As most of you probably have found out by now the bill that outlaws transactions from US based players towards online gambling has affected La Isla Casino and our US based customers. Due to the fact that Playtech is a public company (on the London stock exchange) they see no other choice then to currently block IP from the US for deposits and games.

As the casino manger in La Isla I am sorry to see you go and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your company this far and wish you all the best in the future. Hopefully we will be able to welcome you back as our guests one day soon. La Isla Casino have decided that no VIP levels for our US based customers are to be changed so when the US market again can be opened you will find your VIP level intact as it is today.

If you have any questions regarding this please do not hesitate to send me a mail. Again thanks for your time and your company.

Sincerely,

Afshin E. Rifat

Edit: They're coming in faster than I can keep up. Dropping like damn flies they are.

MagicBox casino. I don't remember this one, probably Playtech.

We regret to inform you that because of the recent enactment of the 'Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act' players that reside in the United States of America will no longer be able to perform any of the following actions at Magicbox Casino:
- deposit money
- register new payment methods and credit cards
- place real money bets

Actually, I received an email this morning (I knew I shouldn't have deleted it..but so many were piling up of casinos that sent announcements they were closed) that XXL is "closing its doors" to players in the U.S.

Whoa! That was a fast about-face - possibly Playtech-inspired?

Casino City is trying to keep track of the closures and says in a recent article by Brad Valerius today that some 350 sites have so far closed doors to Americans.

With a smaller market (sans the USA) that is going to be hellish competitive, I believe many of these smaller sites are going to go down in flames before too long.

Got an email from Swiss Casino Playtech part of the Casino King group.

Simmo! I went back on and looked and the page looks all different now. Ok it is true that I forgot my medication today but really, I swear. I did see it, honest. But at least you caught the typo so the trip for you wasn't a total loss.

I got phone calls from two different MG casinos where they basically asked me if I had a relative in a different state where gaming isn't prohibited and then told me that they'd love to update the address on my account for me so that I can continue playing.....

Seems like it wouldn't be too hard to keep playing if you were very interested in doing so.

Ah - no "s" :D

"casinoking.ca" looks like an affiliate site trying to masquerade as the real thing to me. Whois info is the give-away plus the River Belle link goes not to River Belle but another possible affiliate site.

Also...
