Casinos don't want you to win a progressive at their casino?

Would've thought any casino group would love to fork out the progressive. Maybe not.......Here is a funny story..

Had an interesting experience at one popular Microgaming group. I had been a VIP there for awhile and so had my own VIP relations rep who offered bonuses
whenever I deposited a lot and had even sent me a gift/goodie basket in the mail......Anyway, since I knew they liked giving me bonuses whenever I deposited larger sums, I simply asked them to offer me the bonuses whenever one of their progressive jackpots was very high so I could play the winnings of my bonus-play (which was usually +EV because of the x30 rollover) on it.

Basically my message was ........"help me increase my chances of winning the jackpot and I will deposit and play more"....I figured this would be win-win, because the jackpot is funded by other players, so it doesn't hurt the casino to have one of their players win, but my "bonus-play" losses (assuming I didn't beat the WR) would still go directly to the casino (because you can't play progressives when bonus WR remains). WIN-WIN right????.......... WRONG surprisingly! No reply from the casino relations manager rep and no more friendly replies/chats, bonuses or gift basket goodies ever since from this casino group.......OUCH :what:!

Oh well, live and learn. Maybe casinos never want you to win (even if winning doesn't necessarily mean a financial loss to them).

(Actually after writing this message. I suddenly feel like closing my account there. Anyone who sometimes deposits five-figures in a month shouldn't get the cold shoulder even if one of their requests did accidently "hit a nerve" so to speak).

ouch!

Definitely sounds like you hit a nerve. Possibly because you declared you want to go for the progressive on their dollar, and regardless of the logic you put forth, maybe he became uneasy with the possibility. You messed with his mind lol!

Casinos don't like you to play progressive slots with bonus money because they "owe" the progressive money to the provider (in this case MGS). If you lose playing progressive slots, it costs them whatever you added to the progressive jackpots by playing the slot. MGS needs to collect the progressive money to the casinos since they are the one that handle them. Therefore, win or lose, it costs money to the casinos when you play the progressives.

Even so, the casino rep should have come back with a counter-offer with a smiley face included. Decent players are hard to get and should be valued. Good-natured communications can go a long way, even if you're giving a customer bad news.

Most MG casinos would have 0% contribution on the progressive slots.
Which means that if you play them (progressive slots) with bonus money, they'll have the right to confiscate your winnings...

Of course, exceptions can and will be made...

However, if your casino has those restrictions, it means that they didn't want to put you in a bad position.

I really do not know what to say about that one, I would not close the account, Not with all the trouble that comes with it now and getting blocked to play other sites from same group, With the new rules that came in than closing account is a nightmare,

Many of stories on here about people closing accounts only to find they canot play at there sister sites, Not only that but only find out after the fact and try to withdraw, With the amount you said you spend than its a risk and half, They will son miss you if just do not deposit,

Any hint of the casino for us? Not that it really matters but you nether no,

That is ridiculous, any Casino should want one of their VIP players to win the progressive, if you won the nearly 8 million that it currently stands at the Casino would reasonably have expected to see a good amount of that returned to them.

The extra payments they make to MG for the progressive are irrelevant as they are still making money off you if you are depositing 5 figures every month. Keeping you happy and playing should be their number one priority.

The whole thing is irrelevant because the OP was only going to play the progressive once the WR was cleared, so it has nothing to do with bonus play whatsoever. It doesn't matter whether the progressive is played with what remains after completing WR, or is withdrawn and redeposited into another casino offering the same game.

Maybe the OP should send an email back to their ex VIP host explaining that a prominent forum member pointed out that the RTP of progressives was very low, and that it was almost impossible to win anything decent unless you were the lucky sod to hit the big one, and on the back of this you had now gone right off the idea of the fools quest of trying to win a progressive and have realised that it's far better to keep playing the regular slots, and keep playing until you hit a decent win, setting yourself targets that you must hit else it isn't worth even withdrawing, although you often have to straight after meeting WR on a bonus in order to properly "close the contract" as simply playing on post WR often leads to complications, so it's better to withdraw and redeposit so that you can play freely.

In reality, you withdraw after meeting WR, and you redeposit elsewhere to have a crack at the progressive, and then "redeposit your withdrawal" at the original site just as the host makes the next offer :D

It seems that being TOO honest causes problems, and this leads me to the suspicion that some of this "small talk" one gets from a host is actually them trying to find out your probable net value as a player going forward, and that if you say the wrong thing, you are kicked to the curb.

I had this experience at Grand Prive. They had a host phone me for possible upgrade to VIP status after a while of playing and losing, and one of the things I mentioned was that I was waiting for the next wager challenge tournament to start as it had been advertised as "coming soon" in the lobby for a couple of months, and appeared to be a regular monthly event, but it never started. After that call, bonus codes suddenly stopped working due to a "technical error", and two days later the offer emails stopped arriving. It was pretty clear that this promotion was not actually real, and asking about it was deemed a serious indication of me being a much less valuable player. This is odd because wager challenge promos tend to get won by high rollers who play a fortune through the slots, rather than cautious bonus players who seek only to meet WR and then withdraw.

I am now rather more careful about what I say to VIP hosts, if anything, I try to sway THEM towards certain actions and offers, and try to make out that I half believe some of the BS about certain games being hot, cold, overdue, etc ;-)

This (part in bold).

The videopoker ones are ok in terms of RTP. Better than Mega-moolah

I would've thought that withdrawing right after you've finished the WR would violate the "un-spoken contract" the player has with the casino, in that the whole reason they are getting the bonus in the first place (a good one: presumably its reloadable and possibly unlimited), was so that they could increase their chances of becoming rich (at the expense of giving the casino a lot of money in the likely event that they don't win the jackpot).

Might depends on who the rep is. This is the second time I've ever tried to make some kind of "arrangement" with a personal VIP relations manager. The first time, my "offer" was politely turned down, but other than that, nothing changed with regards to my account, treatment etc. That was VegasPartnerlounge (great place to play btw).

Very often, players who have played on after having met WR on a bonus have landed themselves in trouble, and the casino has told them that they should have withdrawn and redeposited without a bonus in order to play on freely without having the bonus terms continuing to apply. This is not the same with every casino, but it seems prevalent with certain softwares. It makes no sense to meet WR, withdraw, say, $200, only to redeposit that $200 without a bonus in order to bet big, play a prohibited game, etc, but this is exactly what one has to do in order to prevent some casinos from confiscating wins based on the original terms of the bonus, even though making WR should have freed one from such restrictions.

The frequency with which this issue catches players out makes it very risky just playing on, especially on a Playtech progressive. RTG casinos are also well known for enforcing the requirement to withdraw and redeposit in order to prevent bonus restrictions continuing, even in cases where the balance has ALREADY been reduced to meet the requirements of a max cashout restriction. Some players have reported having their balance reduced TWICE, once as soon as the WR has been met, and again when they withdraw having played on rather than having immediately withdrawn.

Oh neato, I didn't know this. I virtually only play MGS, I wonder if it ever happens there too?

Ridiculous attitude from customer service rep, even if it did cost them a bit when you play progs the chances of you hitting it are very remote.
But if you did hit it, thats millions that the casino could make back from you over the years if you have a positive experience getting paid a jackpot from them!

It's very rare at MGS, but common with RTG and Rival. However, MGS has gone downhill recently with all these 6x deposit max withdrawals when taking a bonus, usually the welcome bonus, but sometimes bonuses of 100% or more. No point playing on even at an MGS if they are using this 6x rule, although it doesn't normally include progressives.
