I used to play at this one MG casino quite a bit, not depositing huge mind you, but frequently - averaging maybe 4 deposits a week and sometimes more. They always treated me well and then shortly after MG pulled out of the US, most of the promos and comps started dropping off. Most of the decent promos were for making bigger deposits and they started saddling me with a 10% unasked for bonus on every deposit I did make. They stopped flushing too. I continued to play for awhile, but the bloom was definitely off the rose....then after several exchanges with support that sort of took the last of my warm fuzzies away, I just stopped playing there. I didn't close my account, I just uninstalled and didn't bother reinstalling.

So that's been maybe a year and a half ago...? It's been quite a while anyhow - but then a few weeks ago I got a phone call from them....we miss you, loyal customer, what can we do blah blah blah. So I told him briefly why I stopped playing, not so much because of the comps or bonuses, but I just didn't feel valued as a customer by the time I left. Which I guess includes comps etc...but I also said if I'm such a loyal customer and you miss me so much, why did it take you this long to contact me and ask me why I'm not playing there anymore?

Anyhow the guy said, "oh yes totally understand, I'm going to send you an email with some welcome back offers that are sure to have you back with us etc etc" - the guy seemed genuinely nice and concerned with what I was saying...whatever. I got off the phone thinking, huh...they DO care.

So then I got busy with other things and just realized a few days ago that I never received any email from them. "That's odd," I says to myself, "Maybe the mail got hijacked or flagged as spam...perhaps I'd better download the casino and see if there's a message there." So I downloaded and there was nothing but the standard popup to deposit at least $50 for the chance to get a bonus.

It was funny though that they called me and listened to my concerns and made sympathetic noises...and then did nothing.

"How to lose a customer twice!"

I'll never forget being called up from someone from VPL I think it was. They wanted to give me a huge nd bonus if I got back. I would get 20 in my own currency. That's almost $3:p

LOL - thats HUGE Tirilej, you should have taken it  ...

@ Chayton - its obvious business is bad. They waste all that time contacting you, then don't bother to email you?

They give lousy bonuses and stop flushing, then expect that a phone call will happen to make you RUSH back and deposit again? Some of the MG Casinos have lost the plot...Their decisions to start being scrooges were proof of that a long long time ago and resulted in them falling off the map ... slowly, but surely. Sooner or later some will end up closing because of the quickfire packages ... i.e. Competition being introduced EVERYWHERE....

Their business model has got to change... and if it does, they need to compete with 32Red, who IMPO are untouchable by any of the MG Circuses they call casinos ...

Haha that's so funny. I did not know that casinos called people to get them back, but I am not surprised. But what really cracks me up is that they do it, and then does nothing :). Great story!

Roxy Palace?

Did the same with me after over a year of not playing. Even made me a VIP and put a £150 free chip in my account that meant I had to reinstall the casino. Then, a long pregnant pause, then another, then another. No newsletters, not even the basic ones let alone the VIP ones. Seems they lost interest pretty quick, and I lost the £150. Could understand it of I had "done" a fruity with it and walked off with 10K:D

The problem is that not ALL casinos have tightened right up, it's mainly those that were heavily dependent on the US market. Casinos that saw it coming did not suffer so much by the loss of US players as they had built a decent non-US base of players to cushion the blow.

This morning, I have 100% to £300 at GNUF, plus a go at the duck shoot at 32Red. Damn right both are permanently installed on my PC:D

Roxy Palace?

Nope...I didn't want to name them but I'm sure you could guess if you tried one more time - the automatic 10% bonus on every deposit is a clue. ;) For me that was really annoying, deposit $25 and get stuck with WR for $2.50 extra...?

Anyhow whatever...it's not the first time I've been asked for my input and then have that same input completely ignored. Probably won't be the last either.

It's no secret that the US closing hurt a lot of MG casinos. But I think the main reason many got hurt was complacency. Those that just sat there preying that the US would change its mind about UIGEA just got worse. There were others that thrived like 32Red, who got on with strengthening in new markets and focusing on customer care.
