Casino pop ups and porn

Has anyone noticed the annoying amount of casino pop ups when surfing around the net. I notice Party and pkr seem to be the worse - even on porno sites now - (occasionally hit a wrong link and saw them) - shouldn't operators not be allowed to advertise via x -rated sites?

This is all down to the fact that these other sites have access to your web habits, and from this data have determined that you are interested in online gambling. It also seems that if you are determined to be interested in online gambling, soft porn and dating sites pick this up and try to cross market their services. It may also work the other way. Obviously, the internet marketing companies have "hard wired" the connection between sex and gambling into their engines.

Much of this is done from cookies on your PC, or information and habits gathered by particular websites.

This can be dealt with by changing settings on the PC, and being careful what information about yourself you give to sites that require you to register.

I have listed "gambling" under "interests" on Facebook, and I get both gambling and "porn" advertising, even though I have never given any information to Facebook that would suggest I am into porn. All they have is "single", so they must have used "gambling interest + single" in order to target me with dating and porn advertising, as well as casino advertising.

Every time you visit an online casino website, it drops a cookie, so you have to clean up frequently in order to stop other websites from finding out.

Maybe you need a pop up blocker? Most browsers have them built in these days. Also x rated sites are notorious for infecting you with something so perhaps your computer needs to be checked for malware.

I get the odd popup (also Party casino/poker) from certain non-gambling sites I surf to. And yet I don't do porn sites.

I can think of a *load* of gaming operators that are also very active in the porn site/dating site market (well actually off the top of my head, one operator and one software plaform - begins with P and ends in T ) They are just cross marketing their products.

It seems that your post was not removed after all, and CCleaner has been posted as a freeware solution a number of times, along with Advanced System Care, which has a free basic version.

A "referral" link is one where you add a tracking value, such as an affiliate code, so that anyone clicking on it is tracked to you as referrer. A "clean" link is just the URL itself, no tracking code.

For example,

"www.crapmeister.com" is a "clean" link, whereas "www.crapmeister.com,?affid=12345" would be a "referral" link. (I am not sure of the exact syntax necessary, so HTML gurus needn't point out my ignorance).

Trying to sneak in a "referral" link would be against the forum rules, and could lead to the post being edited, or even removed.

It's possible you encountered the errors I have been getting recently, where my post "bounces" instead of being uploaded, and I am returned to the reply page, but with all my content deleted. If working fast, it is easy to miss this and move on thinking your post has actually been added. I am getting loads of this type of error when adding screenshots, and they just won't take unless I first post the text, and then select edit+ go advanced to add the acreenshot.
