I just read a recent thread by Max where a casino named Jetboo was screwing a player around, they got taken over by Jetbull and Jetbull being the nice guys they are settled up with the player. Way to go Jetbull.

That's all well and good but my question is, can't people look at a casino's name and think "Ok, that's just stupid?"

The first thing that came to my head when I started reading that thread was "Jetboo? Really?"

I can understand that casinos can have stupid names and still pay people but this is the casino's name. It's going to be plastered all over everything from emails to websites and probably even letterhead. It's kind of an important thing.

You would think someone somewhere during the lengthy process of starting up a new casino would be able to look at a name like Jetboo and bring forth the idea that it's just a stupid name. They should be reading possible names to control groups with word association results being taken into account.

What's the first thing you think of when you hear Pamper casino? - "Diapers."

What's the first thing you think of when you hear Loco Panda? - Rabies.

What's the first thing you think of when you hear Parasino - "Parasite casino?"

What's the first thing you think of when you hear Balzac - "Scrotum."

I swear if you named a casino Asscheese casino someone would show up here eventually bitching that the casino is withholding winnings.

"Hi, I've made several deposits at Asscheese casino but when I tried to make my first withdrawal....."

"Warning - Asscheese is unresponsive...."

It's like naming your child. It's supposed to be something that's going to be around for a very long time. Make it a good one.

To be fair though, it's a lot harder than you might think.

Try it yourself and see. Imagine you are setting up your own casino tomorrow, what would you name it? Bearing in mind:
a: The name/URL has to be available, and not too similar to anyone elses who may sue you
b: Everyone has to agree it's not a 'silly' name. (I quite like 'Jetboo'...)

One possible solution I came up with a while ago for someone looking to launch multiple brands was to stick to this simple formula:
(random colour) + (random animal) + (Casino related word)
so you'd have a suite of sites like: BlueToadSlots... RedLionBlackjack.... GreyFishPoker etc etc... They said no :)

What's the first thing I think of when I see:

'Joyland' - a crappy 1960's seaside amusement park.

'Nedplay' - bestiality

'PlayHippo' - fondling a fat bird.

'Wintingo' - impetigo

'BGO' - toilet (an anagram of 'bog')

'Dash' - oh f*ck it!

'Major Tom' - an astronaut has been added to the Village People

'BODOG' - A rancid canine

'3DICE' - A 1980's Ford Escort XR3i with 'his and her' names on the sunstrip.

'Fly Casino' - a trapped foreskin.

'Golden Lounge' - my local Chinese Takeaway.

'NetBet' (not to be confused with casinos of a similar name) - pop song cover versions.

I agree. It isn't easy. You just have to be careful what words you put together and not use silly words or words that make people think of silly things.

Most colours are fine. Gold is fine, golden is fine. Silver is fine, silvery isn't. Red, blue, green and maybe black are good. Pink and yellow, not so good.

Not all animals or birds work. Tiger, lion, eagle are fine. Donkey, budgie, hyena are not so fine.

Some mythical creatures are ok. Phoenix, dragon, maybe genie. Demonic creatures may need to take a pass.

Celestial bodies seem to work. Galaxy, star, sun, nova. I even thought Quasar wasn't a bad name even though one of them would rip a planet to pieces if it got caught in one of their bursts. I was ok with that.

Maybe it would be wise to come to places like this before the names are set in stone to get a feel for their reception. Maybe people could make suggestions.

Maybe there needs to make a list of good casino names that casinos can just pick from.

Of course it's all subjective. Not everyone is going to like what I like or dislike what I dislike. It's all a matter of opinion. It just seems a little harder to argue that some names are just sillier than others.

Colour - animal - casino related word?

No no no.........

That means you could get BlackGorillaCraps

Dunover mentioned Grand Reef Casino in connection with relaxing, smokable substances used purely, cough, for medicinal purposes.

Anyone remember Reefer Poker? They actually had banners that said things like 'are you a toker?'. Strangely, they didn't last. Not the best brand name.

For me, both Bovada and Bodog are good brand names. The names are short, the words have no meaning outside of the fact they offer sports and casino gambling. That's what you need: 'Casino this', 'Lucky that' etc are all easily confused with one another and forgettable.

MrGreen = Good brand name, Lucky Star Casino = bad brand name

All those weird Scandi brands like GregandAliceCasino, JimandElaineCasino, VeraJohn Casino (some of these may be made up to emphasise a point) and so on are just downright bizarre though.

I would call Casino > 13Black Casino and only offer Net Ent software massive profit in sight :p:lolup:

And special welcome bonus for dunover! 500% deposit bonus up to £10,000 and only 5x Wager Requirements.

No more casinos with "Vegas" in them. I'm tired of asking support if I have an account with them.

Unless it's VegasBum casino, with 5 reel slots with only one line playable

I don't know why so many casinos insist on using the name Vegas in the first place. None of them are actually in Las Vegas.

How many land based casinos that are not in Vegas use Vegas in their name?

Vegas Partner Lounge? Not only are these partners not in Vegas, I sincerely doubt they're anywhere near a lounge.

I don't like casino's with people's names like VeraJohn or betFred. It just reminds me of the old Steve Martin Routine about Fred's Bank. Would you put your money in Fred's bank?

lol, worse than that is Betfred's new slogan. "You'll love a bit of Betfred" Every time I see it I want to write to them and say, "Are you coming on to me, Betfred?" :eek2:
