The key is the fact it is a Visa ELECTRON card. Electron is the "red headed stepchild" of VISA cards (to nick a Casinomeister expression without permission:D ). If you look more closely at high street outlets and petrol stations you will usually find small print that says they accept "all cards" except "Electron" and "Solo". These were originally issued by the building society banks separately from the so called "big five" original high street banks. Likely, the payment systems do not recognise ELECTRON codes as being Visa. It may be that withdrawals cannot be processed back to that particular card. I am not sure even why deposits worked in the first place.

Since the reason for a bank draft request was the refusal of the system to accept a "back to card" request, it is yet another example of poor and disjointed communication and service expected of less well run casinos for CS to tell you to withdraw back to the card and then cease all further communications for the time being (likely they are just really slow at responding, like BelleRock CS).

I have one of these "Electron" cards, I find it as useful as a match in a squall (somewhat less useful than the usual chocolate teapot). Last year, I managed to use my Electron card for something other than withdrawing cash from an ATM (first time!) by managing to get a payment from it through to an online credit card account!

The UK banks have started to use Electron and Maestro cards much more frequently but unfortunately they are much more restricted. Electron is actually a damn sight better than Maestro which is about as useful on the Internet as a bucket with a hole in it, and not just for gambling.

I tried opening a Paddy Power account with a Maestro card - it registered but wouldn't take a deposit. So then they locked the account and they asked for docs because apparently the card name has to exactly match the account name. So a card with "A. J. Stupid" or "Mr Alan John Stupid" won't match with a Paddy Power account registration of just "Alan Stupid". That's just stupid. So they asked for docs...tried sending, bounced back 'cos they might apparently be dangerous attachments (JPEG!) and gave up.

I hate my Maestro card with a passion...always fails online despite Natwest assuring me wherever I see "Mastercard" I can use it. Bollocks can I. Electron is slightly better and I have used it at Wagerworks, Microgaming and RTG properties without any problems generally.

True, while I have found at least ONE site that accepts my Electron debit card, I have found nowhere that will even allow registration of my only Maestro debit card. The big problem is it uses the same card number format as my Nectar loyalty card, or my Shell petrol loyalty card. Online sites recognise the 16 digit 4/4/4/4 format of standard Visa, Mastercard, and most Delta debit variants. Maestro is an 18 digit 6/12 code, and cannot be validated as a card in the first case.
The adverts for the Maestro card depict a penguin (or two), and when by my computer, I would find a REAL penguin just as useful as the Maestro card currently is:D

PS, if you merely had a hole in your bucket, you could still fetch water if you ran fast enough:D

Simmo - I really think it unwise to post your real name on the forum...

The weird things is that I had the same problem ("not a visa card") when I used my Nationwide visa credit card at Cherrycasino or Casino Euro, but my visa debit
card worked fine.

I'm pretty sure Electron cards are now recognised as Visa cards.

Because (being a retailer) when someone pays me with an Electron card either over the phone or in my office and I enter/swipe the card number through the PDQ machine it recognises the card as being Visa and not Electron.

This has only been happening for the last 3-6 months or so as previously when I took Electron payments the PDQ machine would recognise the card as being Electron. This does not appear to happen anymore, especially with UK cards. I cannot guarantee this is the case with mainland European bank cards.

As for Maestro and Solo - they are still recognised by the machine independently.
