Casino-Club - Official Mail Adress

Well: I had contact over telephone to the customer office. I did ask for the managment and then i did talk to a person named "tom schuhmann"..

I did explain him the problem & after that this jon salmon did contact me. From the hotmail adress! So im mailing with him since 3 days... And i got the contact after i was talking to cutomer service on the phone...

im confused now... maybe they wanna cheat me?!

Here you have their email address and various telephone numbers.

CasinoClub is an extremely reputable company in my opinion so you should get in contact right away and disclose this hotmail address.

I hope you haven't given away any confidential information.
 
This might be his "private" email address, but it gives a poor impression when dealing with a CUSTOMER, which should always be done from a "work" email address.

A manager should KNOW this, and how it might impact on their credibilty, and should instruct staff that dealings with customers should ALWAYS be done through the official email domain, rather than private or free ones. Apart from the poor impression this gives, there is the matter of security of confidential information, not a strong point of these free email services.

This individual approached CasinoClub. He is not a player. He asked the company to pay a substantial sum of money to procure our companies data that he has in his possession. This data is our property and appears to have been stolen from us by persons unknown. Unless we pay up he will publicise the stolen data.

I was given an ultimatum but as we are a PLC company we have to abide by codes of behaviour and we cannot just hand over shareholder's monies in this way. I chose not to use official email addresses as a person demanding money in this way is quite capable of spamming my real address to death.

My request to Mr Liersch is just to return the data you have to us and help us find the individuals who stole the data from us. Just because others have acted dishonestly it doesnt mean you have to follow their example.
 
I'd tell him where to go and report the theft of data. I'd also recommend setting up some covert accounts within your system to monitor for emails from other people, that way you can pick up on stolen data quite easily.

You can't deal with this sort of extortionist, who is starting to look like a devious low-life.

Is this guy related in any way to that German player who claimed CC has denied him a progressive jackpot?
 
Just a thought - is there any danger of players being prejudiced here? Do we need to take any precautions?
 
God, the cheek of this person to demand money etc! I would personaly play along, get his bank details and then take it to the police

It seems Danlee has been "up to something" as an affiliate with betsson by referring his "best friends" through his affiliate account to earn commission.

Maybe this is connected to "affiliate fraud", and the data he has is simply these same "best friends" at Casino Club, and THIS is how he knows their details, rather than through some stolen datasets.

He may well be bluffing about having a load of data - worth checking.

There is no guarantee either that he is in Germany, we can put anything we like in that field when we register at CM, but Bryan logs other data when members register that can be used to determine whether they are being truthful about their location.

Danlee also has Casino Club listed in his profile as "worst casino".
 
The truth is:
Someone sent me this information. The support from the Casino Club was not interested in this. So I offered a German television to make a report about this DATA SCANDAL.

I did found my own datas in the database. After Casino-Club support got the information from the television, they started to get interested in the thing i was trying tol tell the support.

I did return the support already one week ago the data's and i told casino club the details of the person who gave it to me.
(Name, PayPal Account UK Bank Account Numer and E-Mail!)


This is and was, no extortion at all. I am personally concerned, and im allowed to report over this in the media.
I did never try to SELL the data back to casino-club - No Way!

I have demanded € 2,000 compensation for the poor handling of my personal data.

Tell, or SELL.

The rep claims you demanded MONEY in order to "keep quiet" about this - that's blackmail. The blackmail is a separate issue to the possession and use of the data. EU wide data protection laws would make it illegal for you to hang on to this data, or publish it without the consent of every player who's data you have.

Raising the scandal in the media is again a separate issue, and if the television company has been given the data itself, you may still have breached data protection laws by passing it on to a third party without proper consent.

In theory every player who's data you have could sue you for damages, as could Casino Club. The only real defence open to you is one of "public interest", that is - it is in the public interest for this breach of security at a company processing personal data to be raised in the media, even though investigating the issue requires some laws to be bent, or even broken. The success of this would vary depending on which jurisdiction hears the case.

UK Television programmes have often used data to contact the unwitting victim of a leak in order to highlight the issue, and ensure it gets the media spotlight shone onto it in order to force the company involved to handle data more securely. However, this NEVER justifies blackmailing the company involved, and the allegation here is that you demanded money from Casino Club in order for you to NOT raise this issue in the media. This suggests you were motivated by personal gain, rather than public interest.

You had better find yourself a good lawyer, since it seems Casino Club has called your bluff.

I did give the datas back to casino-club and did not give it to anybody else.
It is a public interest - its maybe importand to inform the people, HOW casino club handle data protection!

How come Casino Club think this is blackmail?

For this to be a claim for damages, you would have to send a legal letter demanding restitution for damages. Given that the rep says you are not a player, how is it that YOUR data is involved?

Unless YOUR data is involved, you have no grounds for seeking damages.

As well as giving the data back, you have to destroy all copies you have made, and you would have to make a sworn statement that this had been done in a form that is admissible in court.

Since you have made this public through the media, you are also burdened with the possiblity of having to prove that what you have said is true. This could come about if Casino Club decided to take action for libel regarding some or all of the statements you have made to the TV company.

If this is such a big deal involving a big law firm, why ONLY €2000 - this wouldn't even cover the legal costs, let alone provide you with damages.

Perhaps you should step aside, and let the TV company and data protection regulators handle this. The story is out, public interest has been served.

No No, i am player, did register 2004 and my name is still in the database. (it is also DanLee) The law firma told me, that because my own data are inside this database - wich contains by the way 128.000 Usernames, PIN, Adress & CO from Casino Club - i have the right vor damages.

And i did send "Mr Salmon" the contract (in german: vergleich) which was written by my lawyer.
 
To keep oneself from being accused of blackmail, all you had to do was quietly talk with the casino and simply return the info.

Giving it to TV, getting a lawyer, trying to "make" the casino give you 2 grand, all point to you being a blackmailer, or at the least, a lazy little creep that is simply trying to get money without earning it.

You probably are quite lucky that the casino hasn't gone after you with both barrels by now.

Danle's story just doesn't ring true to me, and if he has a history of dodgy dealings that will not improve his credibility.

His claim of seeking legal assistance and television coverage is easy enough to prove - provide the addresses, contact and company names and these can be easily checked to verify his story.

And why would some person he presumably doesn't know send him stolen (because it has to be stolen) data as valuable and detailed as he claims it is?

I think he's going to need a lawyer in the future...in CC's position I would be going after him and whoever 'sent' him this data with a criminal charge of extortion and theft.

I doubt that the md of a listed company would make a public posting making allegations such as CC has done without having some heavyweight evidence to back his statements

Leave the roguing to Casinomeister - it's tricky business and not for amateurs.

Here's some history for Danlee - squirreled away in "Webmasters", where he questions why his affiliate revenue is so low, and he knows it because all the players referred were his own "best mates" and he knows exactly how much they have deposited and lost.

This is pretty "dodgy" as far as the rules for affiliates are concerned, and may be bordering on fraud.
