It's easy to see why people think Bonanza is compensated. After a 776x bonus yesterday, I get this today, different casino, same provider (Quickfire).
It was the biggest win in around 300 spins. Nothing but dead spins and 3OAKs in the base-game, the best win was x10.
I wouldn't expect to win big again, so soon. But it's gone from one extreme to the other. Even a bonus paying 40-50x would have felt more acceptable.

I don't think it's compensated but I do think these slots go through different variance cycles almost daily.
If the RTP stays the same then it's all good as far as they're concerned, I just need to learn to walk away when its noticeably shite!
