Low rolling on 40p's, getting nowhere in terms of even a GOL, get to 20 quid bored as hell and up to 2 quid: within 10 spins in she comes. Snorky like this but that's becoming a pattern. It would be interesting to do a “Bonanza challenge”. It would work something like this hypothetically.

The challenger gets to pick any four games vs Bonanza. You then start with £1,000 at the agreed stake and run the games for the agreed time or until they all bust out (which ever comes first). You repeat this 10 times. At the end you extract all relevant data. Rtp, average base hits, amount of bonus rounds and average, length of playtime, overall profit/loss, etc etc.

A formula for working out the best value for money would have to be created taking all stats into account. I think we would see some interesting results and in comparison to other slots I think (only my opinion) that Bonanza in the long term would outstrip pretty much any other slot pound for pound.

Maybe one of you good people who are better with technology and equipped to run a trial could do it. I am not good with technology so I haven’t got a clue what would be involved. I would just like to see the results .

@trancemonkey would be a good go-to maths guy here but I can't see how the above would produce any quantifiable results in 10 sessions; I mean, any given game of the lot could produce 10 stellar run results, 10 poor results or anywhere in between.
That's not even addressing the myriad of variables like rtp and volatility (I'd suspect, still moot, even if they were all generally similar, there's general games mechanics, and well, randomness

Given that the vast majority of people will never come remotely close to completing 100,000 spins on any one game I think you could draw realistic conclusions as to how a game performs generally.

The thing is with rtp. Take a megaways game that has billions of possibilities. How many spins would you have to do before you could realistically account for all the variables? I don’t know exactly but I do know that NOBODY will ever do it real play.

What you have to ask yourself is why you are prepared to go that deep on a slot that has a bonus that on average pays x100. Would you do that on any other slot or is it that you find Bonanza very addictive?
