Big brother is watching you

I have had every single one of those tactics used on me . . .

many times! I sure would like to know what casino that article is referring to. Obviously, in any major Vegas Strip casino, you would need to be up many thousands before they bothered to send over their shills.

Back in the early 80s when the hotels were still mobbed up, I was offered "female companionship" at Caesars one night. I stayed at the Sands frequently and had a good streak going. They sent a guy up to my table to sell me coke--an unfortunate and expensive weakness back in the day. He dropped some not so subtle remarks and the next thing you know, we were sitting by one of the pools and he was offering a really "good" deal on some really "good" stuff. It worked. In fact, I don't believe I had another winning session on that trip. Thank God those days are well behind me.

I think today, the major corporations like MGM-Mirage, Sands, Harrahs (Caesars) would use the normal tricks--as mentioned in the article, but most would not stoop to the things they used to do.

My wagers are not high enough to garner such attention. I get the ragged looking smelly panhandlers with the old 'I'm broke and need money for bus fare so I can get back home to my wife/husband and zillion children' routine after Ive hit a $100 on a nickel or quarter slot. Problem is, in Tunica, there is no bus line ... or even a taxi service (one guy tried that one once). ;)

The most obvious stunts hubby and I have had pulled is what we call the 'dealer musical chairs' at blackjack tables when on a good run, and/or the boss will come over and try to make conversation mid hand if there's a big stack of chips on the line. Haven't been able to get a drink for hours? Suddenly the waitress with the hugest boobage will show up. She may even spill the drink when she brings it back. Anything for a little distraction. I don't play blackjack anymore, but he still sees it occasionally when he's in the midst of a good run.
