Betway, confiscated winnings... is this standard from this operator?

I had deposited and played here before but was put off by the cash out times.

Got a phone call out of the blue about a free bonus on my account.

I thought why not, won a small amount from the bonus.

Played on to meet the wagering requirements.

Contacted support and checked if withdrawal was allowed.

Support said yes to did a withdrawal back to card, the rest I bet on the sports book and won.

Anyway 48hrs+12hrs passes and the withdrawal is still processing.

Support now tells me the winnings have been confiscated because I abused the promotion!

So I have now been on live chat and they are saying I should have not made such a big withdrawal, I could have had it if I had deposited again after a smaller limited withdrawal.

Anyway I have googled and there appears to be loads of players been ripped off with winning confiscated on the casino and sports book, how are betway accredited?

Something isn't right here.

It may be a case of not being allowed to transfer winnings to the sportsbook.

Did you contact the rep?

I'm sure they will fill in the gaps for us and resolve the issue either way.

Was it a no deposit bonus? If so there is a $100 max withdrawal. You can't withdraw $100 and then bet the remainder on sports and expect to be paid.

This is the bit that makes me question whether you meant Betway or a similar named casino. If you violated the terms, no pattern of withdrawals would be permitted. Since they phoned you to offer the bonus, taking the bonus itself was OK.

As well as the WR, there is a max bet term. Is it possible that you violated this by wagering more than 30% of the bonus credited before transferring to the sportsbook?

Transfer to the sportsbook should not be allowed if any WR remains. Is it possible that the software doesn't catch this?

If you are certain this is Betway (Microgaming casino), you should PAB.

Well it now turns out they are now going to give me a £100 withdrawal, instead of the £200 I withdrew, the point is I clarified with support before making the withdrawal and they said it was fine.

Earlier they did quote the 30% rule, but now they are just quoting the £100 max rule, so now they have just confiscated £100 plus the sports book money.

Would have been nice when I requested the withdrawal it said £100 limit, also when I asked CS about if the money could be withdrawn.

I asked for the confiscated winnings to be re credited to my account, but nope that was not possible!

PAB won't get me anywhere with this one will it, its just the case that they decide to use the t+c as and how they see fit, rather than apply them every time.

Its seems if I had just withdrawn £100, I could of had another £100 plus £7x.xx I had in the sports book at a later date.

I'll just not bother with them in the future and stick with the two microgaming sites that I have never had an issue with.

No, the maximum withdrawal from no deposit bonuses is $100. You could not have had another $100 plus your sportsbook winnings, as you had already withdrawn the maximum allowed. The remainder is "dead" money and cannot be used, and is usually removed at cashout or at processing time.

Why on earth would they re-credit your confiscated winnings when you already had withdrawn the max...??

The casino did not apply the terms "where they saw fit". The term is on their website. How do you know they "don't apply them every time"?

You can PAB if you wish, but IMO it will be a waste of time, as the casino in this case has done nothing wrong.

First of all they said they would confiscate all winnings due to the 30% rule, then they changed their mind and said well we will give you the £100 max withdrawal.

Then I was told if I had only withdrawn £100 the rest would still be there and if I redeposited and used it in the sport book I could then withdraw the rest.

So if the 30% rule was applied they could try say I am due nothing, but they said I can have the £100 max cashout... its one or the other not both.

What they have done wrong is say the withdrawal is fine, then try ring me, then try and convince me to reverse withdrawal and get an extra bonus... why try do that when I can't win any more due to their terms and conditions... it stinks in my opinion and is very bad practice.

If they want to give bonuses about they should decide if the payers they are giving them to are going to try and abuse them before, not afterwards should one win.

This part is alarming. Trying to make a player to make a reversal with a bonus is not ok. They usually never write this in email or live chat, they don't want players to have that kind of proof. I have heard this kind of things in phone calls as well.

They want you to make a reversal and win it all back. :(

However, your maximum cashout still was only 100$, which makes everything above that void.

Well they said i'll be getting £100, not $100.

Looking trough complaints on other sites about betway it seems to be their standard practice.

I think we are well aware that it was 100 POUNDS....we talk in dollars because we use dollars and it is easier to type.

I'm sure you know this though.

Shame you didn't do your research before you played, it seems.

All the Palace group casinos do this - all no deposit wins including free spins they give out from time to time are capped at $100 after wagering. Probably because they gave out so many freebies, back when I still had accounts I used to get free spins at each casino at least once a month.

Oh well it appears they have paid £100.

The facts still remain that they said ALL winnings where confiscated.(30%rule)

After complaining its then all winnings confiscated bar £100.

Now if they went by the t+c, which where not clear at the time of offering the bonus, they could say they are not paying anything.

Why bother offering bonuses to players they don't want to payout to?

If the max cashout was always £100, they have in fact let you off the hook by NOT confiscating your £100 despite a breach of the 30% rule.

What is still puzzling is your insistence that they said you could have kept MORE than the £100 had you only requested £100 and played with the rest. It appears they are condoning players using a loophole in the max cashout on a freebie rule by cashing out the max from the casino, and moving the rest to the sportsbook rather than lose it under the casino's terms. This makes no sense at all:confused:

I have recently been getting regular £250 free chips out of GNUF, so I will have to remember this max cashout rule, which I believe is 10x the chip, as it is unusual for a MGS casino to "do an RTG" and have max cashout bonuses for existing players. If I get another, I have to remember there is no point in fighting my way past £2500, but to just complete WR and cash it out (or transfer the surplus to the sportsbook:rolleyes:).

The max bet rule is very common, 30% at Palace Group, and 25% at Red Flush. I have seen a couple of cases where it is a mere 5%.

It is disappointing that MGS casinos are starting to copy RTG in having max cashouts for DEPOSITING players. It seems that MGS now present a risk of hitting a large win off a free chip and losing much of it, one reason I have tended to avoid RTG.

Maybe they should offer players the choice of a 100% deposit bonus instead of a free chip so they don't have to worry about getting a big win at the wrong time.

yer youve hit the nail on the head . problem is when youve been depositing for a bit without any luck , then they give you something you win its capped . i would like to know where all the other funds go & where did the live roulette money go ? had i known it was a capped bonus i would of played it for the points (

You used a no deposit bonus with a 100 POUNDS (<---) max withdrawal.

The casino paid you 100 POUNDS in winnings.

Yep, they're definitely rogue all right.

FWIW, it is obvious the CSR was referring to your sportsbook winnings being confiscated, not your casino winnings....to me anyway.

IMO you're just pissed that you couldn't win more than 100 POUNDS, and you're taking it out on the casino....who has done nothing wrong, and has, in fact, as VWM pointed out, WAIVED the 30% rule and paid you anyway. Technically, you should be getting NOTHING.

Always check the terms of a bonus BEFORE you play.

Yes but do you know how to find some of the terms and conditions they hide away, I asked live chat supports for a link a few times and even they could not find the specific set of promotion terms, or show that there was anywhere available to view them.

I stopped playing bonuses seriously years ago, the days when the terms were simple and usually consisted of just, deposit x, get a bonus of y and then wager x.

I never used to abuse the bonuses, just I would play to win, if I won I would bet more and go for a big win. Actual gambling not bonus whoring. Its fully understandable why casinos want to protect themselves, but I can't see why they could not just do bonuses with simple terms for the loyal customer.

14. The Casino reserves the right to limit cashins/withdrawals from any free chip/bonus/free games/free spins added to a players account to £/$/€100 or, in the case of other currencies, the equivalent of £/$/€100. This limit will apply should a bonus be granted with no deposit being made unless specifically stated otherwise in the promotional offer.

Took me LITERALLY 15 seconds to find that.
