Betfilter

Not a clue to be honest. But any accredited casino you are a member of should be able to give you a break, or limit your deposit options. I'd be really careful how you word your request for a break though, if you indicate you are an addicted gambler, you might find yourself on databases across the software that would somehow not prohibit you from depositing, as it might not be picked up right away, but would prohibit you from withdrawing winnings.

Sometimes it's good to take a break, it's not always about the money, sometimes it is about the amount of time it's taking.

I took one last spring to put my house and yard in order. And while I refrained from posting I did sneak in and view CM.

Not everywhere is as small as 3Dice, but I gotta love when I returned that I joked I might just need a ban during daylight hours, they indicated they could accommodate that.

Personally, I think if it's a respite and not a pledge to quit gambling online, I'd contact reps and ask how to best go about that break for their casino. Some have it built into software, others require an email, not just a live chat request, it does vary.

I'm assuming Betfilter charges a fee.

Could anyone kindly tell me if I purchase Betfilter to aid me with having a break from gambling online - can I still view the CasinoMeister forum, or will it block that too?:what:

It will allow you to view CM, I have tried this, however I found a way to uninstall it so it cannot be completely relied upon if you want to block gambling all together.

Thank you guys for the responses. I have self-excluded etc before from my main casinos but would rather do something a little more bullet proof to keep the promise to myself this year to cool it on the gambling. The rollercoaster of emotions is taking it's toll on my health and I am concerned about the time it steals from loved ones. I will be happy to still be able to post here though so will give it a shot later :)

Just to confirm, in case anybody else is interested, I just purchased Betfilter and indeed you can still use Casinomeister

I also have a 50% discount code that works, for purchase of multiple licences (I bought 2 cos I have 2 computers, no use just protecting one and gambling on the other ;)) so if interested in that do PM me. :)

Hope it works for you but addiction takes more than a software fix. I could get around this thing in less than 2 mins if I had a gambling problem.

My fix first would be hook up another computer without the software installed to my modem, sorry to say but this isn't the cure for a gambling problem.

If you're serious about self exclusion, then self exclude yourself, or request taking a break anywhere you can.

Seriously this self exclusion software crap should add the slap chop or the ShamWow at the very least to get you onboard.

It didn't even block this site? ;)

I think you are being a bit harsh. The OP said at the start of the thread that they are looking to take a break. I didn't read anywhere that Chuzzleaddict wants to quit gambling, merely cool off this year.

I hope betfilter works for you CA and glad to hear that you can still access the forum :)

Only my 2 cents and no disrespect to CM, but anyone who wants to take a break from gambling, shouldnt visit a gambling forum. While his input and conversation and company may be sought and enjoyed, the site is a veritable cornucopia of temptation (deposit bonuses, specials, promotions, winning screenshots). If you really, truly want a break, why not ask Bryan to temporarily ban you to avoid the temptation?

I don't understand why being on this site should be a problem. I am still interested in the gambling community and seeing whats going on, I just want to cool on on the actual gambling myself. I have friends on here that I still want to stay up to date with and enjoy looking at the screenshots, etc. I would just like to spend more of the time and money that I have given up in the past to gambling, to my son and my other loved ones, this year.

As I said, it's only my opinion. Someone who wanted to cut back on drinking, I wouldn't suggest a bar to hang at, If someone said they masturbated like a fiend, I wouldnt give him porn for Xmas. If you've the will and conviction to hang out and see the big win screenies, great. If the goal is to gamble less, and as you said, spend more time with kid and loved ones, spend time on their hobbies not yours. Surely any friend worth their salt can email you rather than keep in touch via the forum.
Again, only an opinion

You'll end up getting me banned from here and I don't want that :(

LOL @ the porn though, that would be quite the Christmas gift

I just like to pop in here and see some kick-ass screenies and join in the general chat, as gambling is still a hobby and interest of mine, I just don't want to partake in the risk taking for a little while to try and build up a little nestegg for perhaps a holiday or at least look back on a bit of time where I didn't spend every evening gambling (as much as it is enjoyable, and I tend to do OK, I just want a little respite).

Don't worry. You are just as welcome to be here as all other addicts:)

I think it's great that you're doing what you can do to improve your and your familys life. Who are we to judge?
Take the steps that's best for you, and if you want or need to quit totally later, then you know how to.

Those who are questioning your motives only wants what's best for you, and it's always a good advice to try and see every side of it, i.e questioning yourself

You might end up losing your interest of being here since you won't play ;)

I think we all need a break from gambling once in a while, gambling is by nature an addictive habit, many people that say they won't get addicted, wind up with an addiction, none of us plan to become addicted. I think it's fantastic that you've been proactive and made the decision to stop. Not many people have the discipline. I'm the same, I do well but probably spend more time playing than I should. I take regular breaks, which I believe helps stop habits from forming :)

I'd stay away from the winners section ;)

I don't understand that either? You don't have a gambling problem that is putting you in debt, making you steal/lie/cheat. You just want to chill out for a bit.

Most of my reading/posting is in the "attic", which has nothing to do with gambling, and a lot of the main threads are about bonuses, people not getting paid, questions about slots, etc...

I don't see the problem with someone who just doesn't want to spend as much money on gambling, to HAVE to leave a forum where they feel welcome and enjoy the "company". Makes no sense.

Chuzzleaddict isn't in trouble from gambling, he just wants to spend less money on gambling and found a way to do that...what's the problem with participating in a forum?

I think people jump to conclusions too fast. (no one in particular in this thread, I mean in general in this forum, when someone wants to cut down on gambling, all of a sudden they are an addicted gambler that has no place here.) This is wrong IMO.

Thank you guys..

And if anything I feel like this is healthy outlet for my interest here, without gambling itself but still being able to keep active in the community somehow. I feel like I am doing a responsible thing by cooling off and hopefully if there is any kind of problem on my horizon, then 'nipping it in the bud' is very much the thing to do and feeling the time to put some distance and breathing space in to my gambling activity is right for me at this time.
Gambling has been a part of my life since I was a child and I am always interested in the culture, some of my favourite movies have gambling themes, I am very interested in the different types of gambling and gamblers, the statistic, the screenshots, opinions, reviews, the controversies at various casinos and other background stuff, so I don't feel like I should have to lose it all just because I don't wish to actively gamble for a while.

:) Thank you for the supportive replies.

My opinon only but, being addcited to gambling and having to quit is like losing your best friend, its hard, keeping yourself around the forum is going to draw your right back in, its only a partial attempt to quit, if you want to quit then stay away.

Life is like a big circle filled with many things, gambling reduces that circle until it is so small that it mainly becomes just you and gambling inside, no real friends, things that used to be enjoyed gone, money dwindles and debt rises.

That circle has to be expanded back to normal life again, its hard and I wish you the best of luck.

Didnt even take me 2 minutes figure out how to remove this product, it still left behind some nuisances but not enough that woud hinder the play, mainly promotion pages within the casino not loading.

The difference is I'm not addicted, and I don't have to quit. I just want a bit of a break.

Call it what you will but people that arent addicted dont have issues or need tools to help them stop, this is not an insult so dont take it that way, just make sure your eyes are opened wide, it can sneak up on you before you even realize it.

How do you know? Do you really believe that? Remember gamblers are great self-deceivers and even better when it comes to others around them. When people 'take a break' it's usually to try and tackle debt or other financial issues that have crept up. If it's not the thief of money, then it is as Chuzzle hints certainly the thief of time. Chuzzle recently posted a screenshot of Cleopatra on £20 a spin. You need some serious depositing to do that, unless he's been remarkably fortunate from a low stake start.
If you want to take a break, you take a break from it full-stop. Coming here certainly won't assist this 'break' (or as I see it his self-imposed and I suspect more-difficult-than-he-makes-out self-challenge to abstain). Players usually make these pledges on the back of a big loss. I'm not having a poke at Chuzzle; we can hardly expect facts too personal, but I would look deeper than face-value for his reasons.

I do have trouble abstaining from gambling because it is quite habitual, at certain times of day or whatever, it's all too easy to have a quick game even if I have told myself I won't - hence the physical aid of Betfilter on my computer this time around. I have a baby son and work full time so I'd like to reserve my evenings for more quality time with him instead of staring at the spinning slots for a while, and of course, this will hopefully have positive financial implications too. I would like to stress that I am not in trouble!

And I've never hidden the fact that I'm a high(ish)-roller, just take a look at my sig ;)
I wager £1 to £100 per spin when playing slots, depending on how it's been going, bankroll, streak, etc - but usually in the £5-£10 region per spin, the £20 that induced the good Cleo win was cool but unusual for me to be rolling at £20 a spin in most cases. I have had wins of thousands resulting from a £1 spin and likewise, sometimes very low wins when rolling high. Its swings and roundabouts but always enjoyable and I remain in control and financially very much in the black.
I deposit usually between £200-£2000 per session with my main casino where I'm a VIP, and almost always come away with more than I deposit. Have had a few bad days of course, its part of it, but you just wait....& like the tide... it comes back in the end, when gambling is used as a hobby and pursuit and not income or from desperation.. :)
