I were playing at Betat yesterday when the site suddenly crashed. Later it said that they are doing some maintenance.
It has now soon been 24 hours, anyone else experiencing this?

I got limited time left for wagering my bonus so starting to be worried, first deposit at their site so not familiar with their support on theese cases yet, though the reason i signed up is good comments on this forum so i guess i dont need to worry :)

Both, Bet-AT and Slotty, are down as they have some server issue. They will send out an email to every player once they are up and running again.

No worries Ginzink...they will take good care of you and surely will extend the wagering period.

Comforting read :) i did get a really good first impression from the live chat, and the bonus rules is amazing! I thought it couldnt get better than leovegas, but they actualy got even better terms :) the real money contribute to wagering here which i find rare at bonuses where you can withdraw if never touching bonus funds

I checked three times before making this thread, yet i did not see the other one before now. 5 months with little sleep does things to your attention for details. Sorry for the duplicate thread

no worries, sh** happens sometimes. i had to do some digging to find it myself, so when you are in a sleepy state it is easy to miss. :D

BETAT/SLOTTY VEGAS UPDATE

Hi all,

A quick update on the situation at hand..

Unfortunately we have been hit by a severe DDoS attack again, and it would appear to be a particularly bad one this time around.

I'd like to put your minds at rest that we are very much live and operating, and that your withdrawals and balances are 100% safe and will be resumed the second we are back online.

Initial inspections estimate that we could be down for a few days but the length of time is as yet not confirmed, and while I understand that this may be frustrating for you all especially at this time of the year, I assure you that we are doing our utmost to rectify the situation in the shortest time possible in order for services to resume. I will set up a FAQ in order to try and answer the most commonly asked questions.

Ill keep you all updated on proceedings and latest information as soon as it reaches me.

Thanks all,
Karl

All i can say is don't let these bastard's win and very sorry to hear that again.
Hope to see you back very very soon Karl.

Well, a casino maintenance lasting "for several days" must be pretty frustrating for players and operators alike. It used to be one of my favourite venues and I look forward to playing there again if/when they fix all their issues and restore progressive jackpot games like Mega Moolah :)

Missing Betat and Slotty Vegas :(

Miss them too, was planning to make good progress in the Christmas contest.

Instead i lost some 1K spreading my cheer all around.

Most of it at dreaded 32RED where i can't win a damn' thing. Deposited some 300$ plus DOTD bonuses and ended the 2 sessions lightning quick with a 75-80% RTP. Got 30FS on the Hyperion slot worth a total of 4.50$ as an extra. So much for Christmas cheer :o

Please Bet-AT, come back online soon!!!! :D

i wonder if blackmail attempts were only directed at betat but im skeptical. so far no problems were reported during the year at other casinos like excessive downtime because of ddos. could be because they have an increased wall protection(don't think so since even Neteller was hit multiple times) or they simply paid. but if they paid, what guarantee is that they won't come back to ask for more once honey was tasted from the hive. i think multiple ones were targeted and only betat made it publicly.

I believe there are always companies and casinos targeted. Betat is honest and not afraid of telling the truth, and I really admire them for that.
I don't play there but I would never be afraid of losing money or identity, because that's not at stake here.

Stay strong Igor and the rest. We can at least back you up by supporting you from here

I have

- 50FS from Christmas Calendar and Weekly Cashback at Bet-AT
- Friday FS and Casino Race Winnings (Ended in TOP10 in November) at Slotty Vegas

so yes, can't wait for them to be back online :D :p

And yes, winning at 32RED is near to impossible. Lost over 30K each year in 2014 and 2015.

Redbet was also victim of a DDoS attack this year and I'm sure there are others as well. Online casinos are the perfect targets for these criminals as opposed to other businesses which sell a more tangible product. If an online casinos is not operational they won't earn a penny but still have to pay all their regular expenses.

Can't wait to see them back online. Until then fingers crossed that everything works out fine for them.

Crazy that they are still down. Thought i feel most sorry for them rather than us, we just didnt get our fun this weekend at theyr site while they must have lost alot of income due to the lack of revenue.

Are there any status update?

I hope they are back tomorrow as we have a public holiday in Thailand and hence i got even more time on hand.

On a different note, i am not the brightest computer geek nor do i have great in depth software knowledge. Hence could one of you wizzkids out there explain how these criminals make money with a DDoS.

My logical knowledge would tell me that something initiated by some bright humans can be stopped by a brighter human and i suppose online casinos employ a few of those wonderkids. Or am i thinking to naive about this???

I am no expert either but to answer your question. They don't make money out of it directly only if sites they attack pay them to stop the attacks. A lot of these attacks are down to blackmail or a personal vendetta against a site.

Think of all the sites anonymous has hacked or took offline for a while.

These attacks are difficult to stop as no matter how good your defences are at stopping your site being attacked and hacked into its a lot more difficult to stop a DDOS attack because of the size of it. Many huge companies including sony, neteller, and even government sites have been took down by these attacks.

I don't understand much about these things either but they're criminals, I read the links very interesting.

I never heard of such a thing before until now and what is 10btc? I am clueless I know but angry for doing that to one of my favorite Casinos.

I will be depositing my money at Slotty and Betat when they're are back and I don't care if I lose as they have lost enough already I'm sure. :(

Just received the email explaining what happened. Would be nice to see the scum behind these and the other DDoS attack back in April up in court and subsequently locked up.

Always so cocky and full of themselves when they're behind a computer screen/keyboard.

That is a lot of money.

Yes it is. Might not be much for BetAt.... BUT danger is they pay this and then the crooks wants more and more :( That is why its good that BetAt take the fight up with them and will not surrender. Instead they intense their security even more to prevent it.

But then again this is also very expensive for them and a shame for such a nice casino. Can only fear for all the others as well and now in December christmas month with all these different promotions.

So sorry to hear this was supose to deposit on betat friday after work but got busy, and i have an pending withdrawal aswell now i dont know if i wanna withdraw. Scumbags online...

I just received the email also.

Sorry if it's a stupid question but... Is my personnal info and banking info compromised?
The goal of an attack like this is to put their servers down only? Or to steal private info about their customers too?

If I remember correctly its not the first time I hear about these attacks... I dont remember the casinos that were attacked though....

Good luck to betat....

Got the email with a link to FAQ, but this link is not working (page not available). Anybody else with same problem?

Hey Fleur,

the link should be linking to Outdated URL (Invalid) or Outdated URL (Invalid)

you should be able to log into your account from there and see the FAQ section and contact forms for various things. We just got the account data back online so we can let people use the login. Putting it all back together from backups is taking time - but at least we know that all players will be safe.

To answer someone's question here - DDoS is used to force us to pay so we do not lose more money by staying shut every day. Usually sites slow down to the point of not being usable due to slow response, but we have a fail safe system that terminates service completely, in order to protect your data. I explained how it works back in April. Your data is 100% safe. We just cant put our operations back online quickly, that's all.

As for withdrawals, we're extracting backed up data now and starting to process all pending withdrawals manually as we do not want to damage anyone's Xmas shopping plans - its a sensitive time for people and someones winnings can mean presents for the entire family.

We'll keep you updated from time to time, but please know that we are doing our utmost to get this done - and get it done right. Each failure is a lesson.

Thank you

This reminds me of Street Fighter 2 back in the day, you'd always get some opponent who'd corner you and spam you relentlessly with a flurry of attacks that did small amounts of damage despite blocking! Namely E Honda, Blanka, Bison.....

Game-related metaphors aside, this new wave of criminals are lame-ass punks who have no style. Bit like the aforementioned button- mashing cheesemongers, their time could be better served doing something CONSTRUCTIVE with their 'talents' a la Anonymous, who at least try to help fight crime! (recently anyway).

Unfortunately cyber- hacking is rife and all companies will be targetted in some capacity. At least Betat will try to beef up their protection unlike so many of the multi- billion dollar companies like Natwest, Sony, Microsoft, BT etc who basically cannot be arsed to implement any safeguards within their creaking firewalls.

It pains me to see a good brand like Betat go down for a while (got the email too) but I'm sure they'll emerge stronger for it. Glad they have not given in to any demands and are seeing it through, hope to see them back soon

I read an interesting book once on these gangster style extortion attempts. It details a guy who was hired by Canbet to try and secure their systems against it, and the company he set up to do just that.

It's called "Fatal System Error" and is still in print. Probably a bit boring unless you are interested in this sort of stuff but it explained a bit about it all to me. It is out of date now. The attacks detailed are in 2003-2005 kind of time. Stuff like send $6000 to Russia via Western Union or we keep your website down.

I have been gambling online long time and these extortion attempts have been going on as long as I remember. Pretty much every major company seems to have been hit at some point.
