Ben Affleck booted from Hard Rocks BJ table

It happens all the time, but rarely makes the news.

It could be a PR disaster for casinos to ban someone who is in the media spotlight though, as it means that spotlight also falls on the reality of how winners are REALLY treated, which can undermine the value of the millions spent on clever marketing used to lure people in because they might win a life changing amount.

Affleck was in Las Vegas with his wife for a quick getaway before the actor begins shooting "Batman vs. Superman," the source said. Affleck has been cast as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming film.

That's stupid! You can't make a "Batman vs Superman" movie.

Batman doesn't have super powers. Superman on the otherhand is unwordly! Superman would win in a nanosecond and the movie would be over!

He got banned from being too good at the blackjack game? Is the casino hinting at that he was card counting? If not, then I certainly like to learn his betting strategy!!! :D But if it was just betting strategy then the casino would also ban him from playing the other casino games so I guess Ben must have been card counting.

My friend deals BJ down in Tunica for High rollers and said that Ben A. and Matt Damon(sp) were the nicest she has ever had at her table , after the story broke I wondered if that is why they went to Mississippi way back when to maybe try to better his skills at card counting, I do not consider this cheating but an art , but that's just my OP.

This just shows how desperate the casino are getting in trying to stay player friendly but still screw over all their customers.. Its a shame actually, card counting isn't illegal and even though the casinos don't like it its part of the game. In all pro sports there are winning strategies, what gives casinos the rites to ban successful players? Its sad.

I know this is going to come off as a stupid question but how can a casino tell if a patron is card counting? I mean don't they do it in their head and how can you even prove it happened?

Many casino staff and pit bosses are trained in card counting as well, they might not be as good as the "pros" who make a living from it but they have a general idea what the count is. Also casinos pay attention to betting patterns. For example if a player is betting the minimum for 15 rounds in a row then out of nowhere bets the maximum and wins, the casino will start getting suspicious. and start keeping tabs on the player. On the other hand casinos (in America at least) have a communal data base where all suspected players are registered with their average bets and wins, if numerous casino notice that a certain player has obscure betting habits and constantly wins big, they could also get suspicious.

hope that answers your question :)

Yup it does. Thank you Ace.

You should read 'The Dark Knight Falls'. Then again, it may also spoil the movie if they used the same plot so be warned. I'm looking forward to the film. I just hope Batfleck doesn't screw it up.

So in vegas they can kick u out for counting but in AC they cannot I gather?

I find it hard to believe a AC casino wont ask u to leave

If true, a PR problem for the whole of Vegas, because they only said he got kicked out for "being too good", and most punters will interpret this as unbalanced in favour of the house, which should be happy with the edge they naturally have. AC may look a fairer place, as at least if you lose, you can later win it all back and be allowed to carry on and win even more.

The PR problem is more to do with WHO they kicked out, rather than why, it has ensured much greater media coverage than kicking out the average player who seems too good at the game.

If I was them I would make a statement to the effect "Ben Affleck won here". It would have been great publicity and got them more customers. Kicking him out was a stupid idea.

It's very hard to be certain, but if a player is wagering the table mininum or small(ish) amounts but has occasional periods where he'll increase his bet x10-x20 times, that's typically a sign that he's been sitting there and waiting for the deck to become HOT! Obviously when he feels like the odds are in his favor (ie the count is high), he'll start putting some real wager money down!
