Yes you are absolutely right about that. This was my knee jerk response to the verdict. I would not have made that jury because I don't think I could have remained impartial regarding the personal stuff. It did kind of sicken me to hear the news pool talk about Edwards flirting back and forth with the alternate jurors.

What makes me vomit is the gall of some of these public figures, in the USA it seems particularly, who use God/Christianity to excuse or explain away their deeds.

Another example was the guy I saw on celebrity wife swap the other night...forgot his name but he was an evangelical pastor who was exposed for having hanky-panky with his male masseur. He stated on the show that it was God who sent the masseur to him to "test" him or some nonsense and that the masseur was Satan or an agent thereof etc etc. In other words, it was everyone else's fault...even God's .He got caught doing it with a bloke when he preached every day about how wrong being gay is...hardly something God would bother setting up IMO.

I'm actually laughing thinking about it.

It appears this Edwards guy is just another douchebag of the same calibre.

I haven't, in all honesty, researched this, although he has been acquitted and mistrials are only because he has a great bunch of lawyers...dream team, so to speak.

Well I reckon where there's smoke......

I can't see authorities spending all that money to prosecute him if it wasn't true, unless it was politically motivated, and I don't see any evidence to suggest that it is.

As my favorite American Judge Judy says.....being found not guilty doesn't mean found innocent.

Yes Secret there is a whole trace of the monies his campaign rec'd from Rachel Mellon and funneled through Andrew Young and his wife to take care of the mistress and child.

My point is, that the Constitution was founded by fair minded and great minds and the judicial system works FOR all people to have a fair trial....but when does justice kick in, here?

I agree but one thing that has fogged it up is Andrew Young and his wife. Thier hands are just as dirty as John's. Andrew and his wife used the money to hide reile but they also used some of it for their own personal gain. Andrew was given immunity but the jury had to know that none of them were clean so it probably made them less likely to convict.

Something else that should be noted is, funding for campaigns is very, very complicated and there are many loopholes so it's my understanding that the jury had great difficulity sorting all that out.

I always thought this guy was a smarmy sort of bloke, but the law is designed to protect as well as prosecute...and a team of big-money lawyers always helps these pricks to exploit the former it seems.

I guess these con-artists - political and evangelical alike - flourish because they are able to manipulate enough supporters to favourably position them to grab the cash...and then in many cases use other people's money to defend themselves when caught.

One can only hope that this guy is now regarded as tainted by his political party, which will perhaps be a more effective way to make him to reflect on his actions if the prosecution gives up on this case.

Just heard them say again that futher prosecution is unlikely. Think some excellent points were made regarding the court of public opinion and the complications of campaign finance, etc. (BB28-Jetset)

He sort of left the door open that his "work" was not finished yet. Let's hope the narcissist is never in the position to lead anyone for anything. ie: GO AWAY
