Are Costco cakes any good?

I've been volunteered to bring dessert to our Easter shindig, I was going to make something but it's going to be like 20 people and I haven't been feeling well and I'm lazy. I thought maybe a big costco cake and ice cream would be good enough.

Has anyone tried the cakes from there? Are they any good?

Well, over here in Oz they're yummy. I bought a huge premiership cake in 2010 when my football team won and it was awesome.

I assume their cakes are similar wherever you go.

I go there 4 times a year and save thousands on my shopping bill.

I dunno, I used to go to Burger King in the US and the burgers were pretty good, when I came here I went, and UGH...even my dog wouldn't eat the food - and considering this is a dog that will clean the cat box if he gets the chance, it must have been pretty bad. ;)

I miss Costco, I think you could fit the whole of Malta in the one that I used to go to in Vegas.

I used to buy Costco cakes, they were good, although that was 6 years ago so they may have changed the recipie. :D

Happy Easter!

.

I am not familiar with Costco, so I had to Google it up :o

Costco is a membership warehouse club, dedicated to bringing our members the best possible prices on quality brand-name merchandise :D

A great Easter cake to make...

BETTER THAN SEX CAKE
1 pkg. chocolate cake mix
2 (8 oz.) containers Cool Whip
2 cans chocolate pudding or pkg. of instant pudding
1 c. Kaluha liquor
4 Heath Bar candy bars
1 lg. round bowl
Bake cake in 2 (8 or 9-inch) round pans. While cake is cooling, poke holes with fork. Brush 1/2 cup of Kaluha liquor on each layer. When cooled, drop one layer in bowl.
On top of cake, spread 1 can chocolate pudding, then 1 container of Cool whip. Then crush 2 candy bars on top. Repeat cake, pudding, Cool Whip and crushed candy. Make sure bowl is deep. Enjoy!

It has been a day to remind me of things I can no longer have.

Damn you internet.... Damn you. :sob:

Seriously though. Costco is great. I miss the plentiful beer and beef jerky the most. Israeli's just don't get beef jerky.

And that makes me very sad. :(

Costco cakes are the best!!!! I use to spend over 100 on cakes for my parties until one year when the sister in law aggravated me and I thought screw this and went to costco ordered the cheapest cake i could for there family party. DAM it was better then the expensive cakes from bakery.. So now I order from there all the time.

hmmmm thanks everyone, Costco it is! That cake recipe of BingoT's sounds kinda good for a choccy binge some day too.

Happy Easter to all!

Love Costco cakes! They are delicious and much tastier than some fancy schmancy bakeries. My best friend is a baker at on e of their stores. She's always hooking me up with those fattening goodies!

So how did it go Chayton?

It was good, we went on Saturday and they had some premade ones, one was very Easter-y with pink and purple flowers and yellow squiggly designs - double layer dark chocolate with light chocolate buttercream frosting plus the little flowery things. It was quite big, I'm pretty sure it was a full sheet - and it was just under $20! We ate it with French Vanilla ice cream (yum) and we left about half of it there so they can eat it again! Plus of course I got a piece to bring home. :o

One thing that I liked is that it's not really sickeningly sweet like some you get - it was actually very good, even the frosting was nice.

Cough, clearing throat.

I deliver to Costco, every day and I am not a member but on the way out I buy the Chicken Ceaser salad at the food bar...and I'm not a member for $3.99...and it looks like it would cost $15...so there!:p PLEASE don't tell on me!

The cakes DO look delicious, though AND the big screen TV's and laptops and....I am teased every day!!!

Maybe I'll plonk the $50 and become a member.

I won't tell. ;)

Ray bought a corporate membership, so his company pays for it. The only thing that keeps us from going there too often is that it's so frigging busy - it's like Walmart a week before Christmas, but it's like that ALL the time! A couple times we've tried to go and cruised the parking lot and not been able to find a place to park, so we just go somewhere else. So it's not really that convenient for day-to-day stuff, but definitely a good place to go shop if you're having a BBQ or a party or something.

In the days when Miami did not have casinos and had CASINO BOATS sailing out of bayside,

I can remember having to stop by at one of the restaurants in BAYSIDE itself to buy slices of double chocolate cake to take , and sometimes other of the goodies. After about a year I discovered to my amazement that it was all bought at COSCO Well, I consider myself a "cake man" and they had the best cake
I think I can blame COSTCO for my being diabetic but I still cheat when I can or as they say
in the diabetic world "exchange"
As a matter of fact , I think I will do as some other one said in a previous post I will sign up for a membership and get one of those dble chocolate cake once a month
