Tried it because I was too lazy to go to Murphy's and I know it is a rip off at $5.95 to load $250 but I digress. My transaction was declined at netspend yet they put a hold on my funds with the bank. Went to the bank and asked if the hold could be removed and they said if Netspend called and gave them an authorization code it could be removed. Got Netspend to call the bank and they talked with the bank for a while and this is what they they said. Bank cant take off pending charge without authorization code, netspend cant give authorization code because transaction is declined. Now someone is full of **** on this one and I will go with Netspend because they have pulled this BS before with casinos and pending charges. Netspend said the pending charges would fall off in 24-72 hours. Its been 96 hours and they are still pending so I am guessing it will take a full 5 banking days.

This is just a warning to anyone thinking about using the Instant Bank transfer at Netspend. It's not a huge deal but it is a pain in the ass and a good reason not to use it.

PD

That's a shame, but thanks for the heads up. I guess it's too much to ask to have something in place for Americans like Neteller had for us, way back when.

I've used this feature a few times with my bank card, but last I knew they had really strict rules on whether you could load it or not. Also considering that my only load options are Western Union or Money Gram here in town. I really don't have the convience of a Murphy go to. It worked great, but as for authorizations dropping off never had to deal with that before.

I actually prefer WU over other load options. It's only $4.50 as opposed to $5.95+ at most locations. Plus, there's a rite aid about 4 blocks from where I live. We're pretty much on a first-name basis there...lol :D

But anyways, WU is also nice because you can load as much or as little that you want and aren't stuck at $20, $50, $100, etc....I've even loaded my card wth anywhere from $15 to $900 in one shot. I tried to load it with $1,000 once, but it wouldn't go through. This was at K-Mart, and I'm not sure if it was their restrictions, or Netspend's....or maybe even WU themselves?

Western Union's rules dictate that only a maximum of $950 can be loaded on any one transaction. In order to load anything above this amount, you have to split it into a separate transaction. This goes for WP too.

Moneygram is a little higher - 999.99 per transaction.

At Speedway and SuperAmerica gas stations, it's 3.95, there's no limit, and you get Speedy Rewards points. You used to get 20 points per dollar that you reloaded, but they put a stop to that since people (myself included) found that was an extremely simple way to get free gas :D.. You now get 500 points per reload and every 7th reload is fee-free.

I tried to use IBT before they allowed Visa/MC check cards - it had to be a STAR, NYCE or Pulse-branded debit card. Needless to say, it didn't work. But I'm probably going to try it again soon.
