Yeah I actually found out about the site to do some sports betting, as I'm tired of online casinos. I found the site on SBR forums.

Well, of course I see they have a casino too. So I put my bonus money on a sports bet, as I went to make sure I'm used MY money for the casino. So I put $100 into the casino. And four hands into the texas hold em, boom, that hits.

I too saw a betonline247...I hope they have nothing to do with betonline.com!

Nice hit.

First off.

Thats a very nice hit

I'm a little concerned with that third line though:rolleyes:

Congratulations in advance! note, though, this may indicate a malfunction, and it doesn't constitute a guarantee you won.

I don't play much poker at all but do all RTG (if this is RTG like chuchu59 as mentioned) casino's have this pop up?

It worries me that the casino can just say "**** some one got it..sorry it was a glitch, malfunction, bug" etc and not pay out.

In any case I hope you get the cash Tycoon83, please keep us updated

Cheers matt

I don't know much about this casino either, but I wouldn't worry much. I have never seen this popup playing at RTG for 7 years, but it probably just comes up on network progressives. So im assuming RTG themselves are probably the ones doing the verifying, since they will be the ones paying you (I think this is how it works).

At any rate, congrats and good luck!!

Exactly. I don't see how a game that is suppose to have a random number generator could have a malfunction. It's not like I got the royal flush on my first game (actually only my 4th or 5th though :p )

I will for sure, thanks!

Yeah, I was wondering if anyone who has hit a network progressive could also chime in to see if they got this pop-up too. I'm assuming it's standard by the network because when I went to live chat, she had no idea what I was talking about, and to them, my account only shows the $102. So I had to show her screen shots.

Yeah after more research, I believe it is RTG doing the verifying. Which is a relief to me, because it's in their hands, and not the site. Also, the site won't have to use their money to pay me out, as it's a network progressive.

So we shall see what happens.

At least the progressive is back down to $10,700ish after I hit it. I checked bet phoenix and it's the same amount as betonline. So I assume all RTG with progressive games are down to $10,700ish.

In fact, I can't even access any of the table progressive games.

I don't know about you guys?

Great hit Tycoon!!!

Just hope this is OK under the terms of your sports bonus. Really hope you get this .

Any news yet Tycoon83? The suspense must be killing you!

None yet, especially since it's the weekend :o

I made sure it was ok to play the casino too in live chat, she said it is, but it wouldn't count towards the wagering requirements.

I also made sure the first thing I did was put the $125 free play balance on a bet, so the $500 of my money was in my account. Then put $100 into the casino transfer.

Thanks for the concern too, because we all know how some casinos are. At least this is in RTGs hands, and it's their money, so I don't see why the site would have an issue giving me the money, especially since they can make money off this as I will bet a few more sports :D

Way to go Tycoon, that is an awesome win! I had a peek over at Betonline to see is they had any weekly withdrawal limits, couldn't find any, so that's good news!

While your Account Balance is adjusted instantly as you play in the Casino, the day’s transactions will automatically be taken from your current balance. To see the most current balance, ensure all Casino browsers are closed and refresh your Sportsbook web browser. If you have any questions regarding your available balance, please contact Account Management at 1-800-977-4717. Once transactions are posted in your account, the correct value will appear under Account Activity, as well as your deposits, wagers and withdrawals.

From the casino terms, thought you might like that phone number.

Tomorrow should be the day I find out, or get an idea on what's going to happen. Thanks for the help :notworthy

I must admit I'm feeling a bit of suspense for you Tycoon83. Let us know as you hear and put us out of our misery. I have my fingers and toes crossed for you as it is a fabulous hit. WTG

Yeah, no kidding...I'm slowly waiting for the next few days to come and go so I can find out my fate.

I appreciate the support! I talked to Bet Online casino manger today and he said he is sending in my information and I should hear more tomorrow.

I guess he means he's sending my information to RTG.

Super great hit...I wish you the best. Keep us posted.:)

First off, great hit and the best of luck to you.

That pop up would worry me though.
I might expect "Congratulations" and a few fireworks with perhaps a caveat of "Please allow up to 3 working days for you win to be verified by RTG and your balance to reflect this win"

But to me it should be, you win, the money is in your balance.
You can win that sort of money on a slot without it being a progressive.

Imagine a pop up every bet saying.
"You lost but this may be a malfunction, we may give you your money back" ;)

Thanks :) Update is at the bottom of all the quotes ;)

gonna share? :P

With my family :p After taxes, it will only be like a 40k win. I love how I have to share this money with the government, who makes it hard to gamble online as it is. If it was up to me, I wouldn't even give them a cent.

Yeah no kidding, I kind of laughed when I saw the malfunction message and rolled my eyes.

congrat's on your super hit im shure that you will be getting your prize money
and :D:D you will put it to good use :p

For sure, I want to at least leave $20,000 in my checking account, the rest will be used for paid off my 10k car loan, pay for a $8,000 surgery I might need, help family out, etc.

But I'm still waiting on word from RTG. I sent a PM to a rep for Bet Online at sbr forums (sportsbook review forums) and he told me congratulations. I asked what the payout method would be, and he said it would be a single check.

I don't know if I want a single check for $65k lol

But I will keep you guys updated. My fate rests in the hands of RTG now it seems.

Congrats :D

But one thing, how in the world are you even going to explain this to uncle Sam? I seriously doubt RTG is going to send you a W2G or a 1099 or whatever in order for you to claim it on your taxes...your best bet is to pay whatever it costs and consult with a tax attorney, or at the very least, an accountant.

From what I have searched...just file it for gambling winnings and then they tax me from there.

Of course, I'll try to itemize gambling losses deductions as much as I can. Maybe I'll go risk $20,000 in Vegas if I lose, they can only tax me on $45,000 winnings :eek2:

If I double the 20k, it can pay for the taxes:eek2:

Actually, it's more like $48,750 after taxes, rather than $40,000, isn't it? From what the IRS says on this page, they'd tax you 25%.

Income tax is withheld at a flat 25% rate from certain kinds of gambling winnings.

Gambling winnings of more than $5,000 from the following sources are subject to income tax withholding.

*Any sweepstakes; wagering pool, including payments made to winners of poker tournaments; or lottery.

*Any other wager if the proceeds are at least 300 times the amount of the bet.

It does not matter whether your winnings are paid in cash, in property, or as an annuity. Winnings not paid in cash are taken into account at their fair market value.

Strangely enough it would be +EV for you to go to Vegas and put $20k on one hand/spin of the wheel.

I know right lol

Oh, even better. I just did 30% and $40,000 in my mind so anything above 40k would be even better.

Got confirmation that RTG approved the win, and just have to decide how I want to get the money :D

That is truly fantastic news, I'm really pleased for you.

Now all you need do is move to the UK (the true land of the free ;)) where gambling is not only lawful but tax free.

Sounds like things are going smoothly. Congrats!

Thanks :notworthy

It's almost worth it to say 18k in taxes :eek2:

I just find it odd RTG hasn't emailed me, instead they leave it up to the site to handle the funds to me.

Are they gonna pay you in one lump sum?

I think pretty much all progressives are handed from the software providor to the casino and then it's up to the casino to pay the player. Boss Media, Playtech and MG work this way, no experience of RTG. IMO it would be better if the software providor paid out progressives directly to the player as it would eliminate the chance of rogue casinos getting hold of the cash.

Oh I didn't know thats how others did it too. Then RTG is no different.

I agree with you exactly. Perfect chance for rogue casinos to just take the funds. I think I'm going to do withdrawals of like 10k a week. Just to be safe.

big sum of money = gonna pay taxes ?= check with lawyer/accountant = tracy sanders over at ftp just said he [he's a new poker pro] he filed professional gambler status and was a huge help:thumbs up:

thanks :D

its so funny seeing this

awesome.jpg

Go play paydirt @ $125 a spin, now? :D

Or Jackpot Pinatas for about 1000 spins? Never know....Could turn $5k into $1m+

But seriously, congrats :)

And pay the $100 or whatever and talk to an accountant so you know exactly what you're going to have to pay in taxes for this win. You definitely don't want to screw yourself. And don't bother paying the taxes right away. Find out what the amount is going to be, and stick that much in a high interest account (maybe even a 6 month CD, depending on what pays more,) and let it earn interest until April 15th rolls around.

Congrats on the win! Awesome!

I won $50k+ online in about 3 weeks time last year and faced the same dilemna. I even made a number of withdrawals of less than $10k for probably the same reasons that you are.

My first thought was what if I just stay quiet...

Then I thought should I even ask my CPA? (I knew what he would say!)

Finally, I just told him the truth and asked for his advice. He told me a little about tax fraud and the consequences of being convicted. He was certain that if I didn't report it and was discovered, the case could be made for exactly that.

I finally decided to go ahead and report it. This was a $20,000+ decision for me, but I sleep better.

Quick true story- I recently returned from the Bahamas where I won $11k at the casino. I debated whether to declare the cash to customs or not and again opted to do so.

I was selected for a random patdown by airline security, and I told them that I didn't want to take the large amount of cash out of my pocket in front of everyone, and he understood. He went on to tell me that less than a month ago, a couple was discovered to have $95k that they had also won at the casino taped to their persons that they failed to declare...Customs had no choice but to confiscate their winnings. The officers were not happy to to do it, but really didn't have the option not to. If the couple would have just checked the little box and filled out a form, customs wouldn't even have blinked hard.

I'm not preaching what to do, I just am thankful that I did the right thing from a legal perspective-(there is a completely seperate debatable point here).

Just my two cents based on my personal experience.

Awesome win and contiued best of luck to ya!

Kevin

Thanks a lot for the comments guy, I really appreciate it :)

And bigwin, like I said in the other thread, I laughed when I saw your comment, because I made that hit before I had a chance to read your comment lol.

kmartinusa- good advice, thanks :D sucks for that couple though who had all those winnings confiscated

Tycoon I'm relieved this has gone so smoothly was worried for you earlier what with taking the sports bonus. Betonline clearly have behaved very well over this.

For anyone else thinking of playing casinos when doing sports bonus ALWAYS double check the terms and conditions yourself. I know it's a pain but sometimes CS people do make mistakes and this is where it can get very messy. At the end of the day CS reps are only agents and the company can always rely on the terms. That might sound very unfair but it can happen.

Anyway thank goodness it didn't on this occasion :).
