So thanks to some wins on DOA I've got two trips to Amsterdam coming up.

Haven't been for over ten years but the first is a couple of weeks from now.

The second is likely to be more touristy. Mainly going for the coffeeshops this time around.

The closest to where I'm staying is Rusland. Just wondering of any of you are familiar with it and other tips for things to do whilst I'm there.

I think I should do something interesting whilst I'm there other than just get baked. So if you've any good that'd be cool.

First trip will be on my own so also wondering how friendly people are in the coffeeshops. Imagine they mainly will be but probably want to avoid some of the usual Brits abroad.

Amsterdam iGaming supershow is on in June.

I'm registered and will be there, as will a number of forum members and the boss man.

That might be fun.

Tirileg has been in contact with the Meister, and here's hoping there's a meister get together.

This will be my first visit to Amsterdam, and I'll be bringing kiddo. Her first trip to Europe, and the longest she's been away from her children. We will definitely be sampling the coffeeshop culture.

If you're into the museum thing the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh museum are must-see.
A canal tour a very nice way to spend an afternoon in 'Dam.
If beer is your thing then PM me and I'll give you my "secret" list.
Thai food? The Bird!
Fries/chips/frites? Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx is _the_best_, Manneken Pis on Damrak is pretty decent too.
...
I could go on for a while. What are you into?

Amsterdam is one of my favourite cities, I also got engaged there during the 2006 Casino Affiliate Convention. Haven't been for a few years ( not since the infamous Ash Cloud ), but my wife took her mum there last year for her 70th, along with her brother. Not that they went in the coffee shops, but appears to be as laid back as it was when I was last there.

Lots to do in Amsterdam. My one regret is not visiting Anne Frank's house. That is on my list for the next visit.

You may want to read some of the Amsterdam reviews that I've written - I mention a load of pubs and restaurants that you may want to check out:

Oh yes, its a great place, very enlightened.

I've got two trips booked this year, the first is next weekend and my main intention it to check out some coffeeshops and maybe the ice bar.

On the second trip i'll be going with someone who really wants to go to Anne Frank's house so will hold that back til then.

Will be taking my camera on the second trip so will get some pics.

Thanks for that, will check these out over the next few days!

Amsterdam is a great town to visit as a tourist or a EU citizen? I went there back in the 70's when I lived in Germany and we would take the train and spend the week-end seeing the best concert's of the day.
And the coffee shop's were not as many as today I'am sure. But we did enjoy our self's. The people are great and the Dutch food is kinda fat filled but delicious. But there may well be more of a diverse menu today?
Back in those day;s you could buy a ticket for the train and it was good for a entire year and I used mine alot! I hope you have a wonderful time and I;m sure the coffee shop's will amuse you. Have a cup for me please. Peace Out! Out Of The Mist! shewoff

Don't know if you're into football, or party for that matter.. But it's worth to check if the Dutch championship is already decided, going to be a massive party in Amsterdam or in Eindhoven which is 100 km south of Amsterdam, somewhere in the coming 5 weeks (last 6 matches).

Just giving you the heads up so you can join or avoid by choice :)
Have a great time there!
