I asked for an old account to be re-opened at an online casino and was asked to sign some kind of declaration paperwork and fax/scan it back to them. Was only interested in returning to see how they have changed and what new games they have.

Not a problem, the form was sent over digitally so I opened it up, typed in the necessary information and then using the mouse and the 'paint' program, signed my name in the signature box. Easy peasy, saved it and sent it back as an attachment.

I have now received a reply saying they cannot accept it as I did not sign it by hand. Well, I did! All I used was a digital instrument instead of an ink pen to put my signature on the form, so why can't they accept it?

Sod it. I really can't be asked to print it out, sign it (I rarely have a working pen laying about!) and scan it back to them. Besides, my laptop is surprisingly on my lap and the printer is in another room.

So, is my hand written digital signature the same as a pen written signature? They certainly look the same! I am sure they are both legal and binding - much the same as all those digital signatures I do with the postal services when I take in a parcel and sign for it on their handheld gizmo thing.

Besides, they can be awkward by refusing address ID where they cannot see all 4 corners of the statement/letter/utility bill. So what if you miss 1mm off the corner, it shouldn't invalidate the information contained herewith!

Mini rant over. Ok, I'm probably being awkward/petty, I'm tired and it's late!

I must admit I get equally annoyed very quickly if a casino is nagging about KYC (regardless whether I am tired or not), and usually move on without spending anymore time on it...

KYC is easy - we are all on-line and registered somewhere and they can easily trace us! Seems daft they still insist on photos of your credit cards (especially after they have already taken the money!) or utility bills - I agree with driving licence/passport.

But, we are in the 21st century where most things are digital - so why insist on still using paper and pens and then only to scan it and send it back digitally?!?!?

Now moving on ..... happy with current casino choices who just accept an 'X' in the box to confirm something! Probably a similar reason why I stopped playing there in the first place.

All this just to open up a old account? Are you remembering now why you stopped playing there? lol. Id smile and wave!

I had something similar the other day..

Went back to a casino that said I did not exist in their system, I have emails to say otherwise..

I tried live chat, but it still kept on saying it after they helped, so I thought.. You know what screw it, why bother with the place, plenty of others

Pfft. That screamed TOO.MUCH.WORK if they want you to send a scanned file of your signature. What are they saying you did not sign it by hand? So what did you use to sign it? Hahaha. Don't worry, there a lot more great online casinos out there. :D:D

Sorry, just amusing myself and may send to the casino ........

i only have a scanner printer for this reason

years ago i had to fill a printout i had about 400 pending went to shop paid 40 for a printer did all the crap still up at the end of the day i also use the thing to print 2 for 1 food coupons too and airplane crap. but we are in a digital age now more than ever the old ways need to be changed.

I would not remain a customer of any casino which creates needless situations or are overly 'fussy'

VPL (before UK pull out) did exactly the same to me as you described in your OP, problem is that there was also a withdrawal involved which they were holding onto until I cooperated fully.

Recall it well, had to print the forms off at work as my printer at home was always out of ink, then I filled em out on my break, waited until gaffer went for ciggie break, slipped into her office and quickly used the only fax machine in the building to send them the signed docs.

Returning to my desk feeling, 'finally' and pretty smug at the same time that I'd accomplished my 'mission' (things were VERY strict in our offices with regard to 'personal use'), checking my e-mails over the next hour and finally getting the 'all sorted, cash on way' mail I'd been waiting for.

Leaving for home at the end of the day, the gaffer calls me over and says 'Jon, your fax receipt is here, who are Vegas Partner Lounge anyway?'

Whoops!

Usually KYC isn't a problem for me all my utility bills and bank statements are online and are accepted at every casino I play at except Moneygaming and Ace Kingdom. Both suggested I go to my bank and ask for a paper statement which costs more money which I will not pay since I already pay quarterly fees and that is enough thanks very much. Besides the estatements are exactly the same as the paper ones down to bar code etc.

I am of the opinion that these casinos are being way too picky and I can't be arsed to do what they ask. I just wont play there simple as that. Still I don't understand why these two casinos out of all the casinos I am registered at have a problem with my valid KYC documents. These casinos need to get with the program. Geesh

I believe that if it is about someone who earlier have self excluded from a casino, and then tried to open the account again, they want a hand signed confirmation.
It's their way of protecting themself if anything comes up later.

We may think it's silly, like we do with everything we don't get immediately, but in a way I can understand the casinos side too.

Now that was if it was an earler SE, not just a closed account so don't jump on me please;)
