All Time Favorite Computer/Video Game?

I'm well past the video games phase as I found it sucked too many hours out of my days, though do still sink several in slots :D

You don't have an all time favorite ?! I don't sit and play video games much myself anymore but.. Super Mario World !! Loved this game as a kid :p

What A Game !!

Original Resident Evil on playstation.

Still cant believe I played that game all the time till I beat it. Always remember it seemed to take hours for each door to open lol. How things have changed.

This game... Loved it  Having to go backwards and forwards just to move on through the game :eek2: Took ages to get anywhere. I don't remember completing it myself but what a game !! Silent Hill on the PS1 was pretty much the same :machinegu

Wow, so many to choose from. A top three would have been far better!

But when all is said and done, I'd say Demons Souls.

Oh go on then, I'll add Killer 7 and the original Civilization in there too.

Perhaps a tad different to the Marios of this world I admit, although you can't argue with the OP for their choice. SMW is immense as are 99% of them. Let's not forget Mario 64!!

Resident Evil 2 was even better. I remember my best friend slept every friday & saturday at my place for weeks and we did nothing else but playing that game. Thank god back then nobody cared about age restrictions on games because i was a couple of years to young to play it legally. :D

I remember buying it and the cashier said "This game is for >18 only." Luckily a friend of my mum was standing behind me and just said "its ok, i know his mother." No additional questions were asked. :D Ah, good old times.

God bless the original Resident Evil with its controls. It was like trying to navigate a tank through a shop.

I remember the countdown to Resi 2, yup it was 1998 and all of us were counting the minutes until its release. Great game

Hey, hey, hey !! As many as you like.. Brings back memories  Mario 64 was pretty good, all 3D :D Golden Eye was my favorite on the N64. I didn't get around to playing a lot of games back in the day, I started playing more and more as the PS2 came out then slowed down as the PS3 came out.. Seemed like the games did pretty much everything for you. Loved the PS1 though :p

Pandemonium !! Ahh my god lol The Joker  Sonic The Hedgehog and Golden Axe :p Some classics right there, thanks for posting

Back in my Uni days I loved Qix in the student arcade. Beer and quarters man, beer and quarters. :D

Computer-wise it's mostly fantasy and sci-fi RPGs for me. Back in the day it was Baldur's Gate and the Icewind Dale series. I hadn't played for MANY years but in the past couple I've done the Wasteland reboot (loved it!), Pillars of Eternity (mostly loved it), and Divinity Original Sin (addictive but only semi-loved it). The next one for me will likely be the Planescape Torment reboot -- loved the original years ago, best cRPG of all time IMHO -- but I won't even look at that until summer is dead and gone.

If anyone is interested in a cool looking post-apocalypse type RPG check out the

Loved the Resident Evil series on PS1 - Nemesis (the 3rd one?) had some good 'chills' when he suddenly appeared after you.

My all time fave tho would have to be Street Fighter II - Championship Edition, we had regular tourneys in our local B&M arcade with prizes of cash and free plays on the slots and it became a great social circle with plenty of friendly banter and led onto some good friendships which lasted years

I used Ken as my main choice of character and became shit hot lol, that machine was never unoccupied and must have made a small fortune for the owners.

Qix - 1981 ?! Way before my time  I had a good look at it, it's like going to the art class on Bully (PS2) also known as Canis Canem Edit  The sound would have annoyed me on Qix but, hey.. It's going way, way back.. Bit sounds :D

I was really addicted to WoW for a while but I excelled in StarCraft Broodwar and to some extent StarCraft II later. Other games I played a lot where Command & Conquer (especially the older ones), Battlefield 3&4, Trackmania and a few others.

I still meet with my old gaming-friends for lan-events 1-2 times a year.

Qix - 1981 ?! Way before my time ...

Yup, that's the one. The game sounds were a bit annoying if you had to listen to someone else playing. Drink helped. :drink:

Currently I'm hooked on these 3 games:

hearthstone1.webp coc.webp rivalKingdoms.webp

My advice is to avoid these games if you value your life. It's a long story...

I remember spending hours with my mates playing some baseball game on the sega master system.
That's where my name Snotter comes from hehe
We used to also thrash a F1 racing game.
Mega Drive came along and i think Road Rash and ol Sonic the bloody stupid hedgehog got a fair thrashing.

I got a dreamcast in the mid 90's and Tombraider took me a couple of months to finish the game.
But was hard to go past Sega Rally trying to always beat that time!

Xbox came along an a big fan of all the Forza Motorsports series still to this day.

On PC loved all the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games and Call of Duties etc.

Last few years loved the GTA series on xbox and this last 6 months has just been nothing but Fallout 4.

I haven't played a computer game in YEARS as I don't have any interest in them any longer and I usually just get dizzy from playing them. Oh, and I hate FIFA on Playstation as well, I must be the in 1 % that doesn't like it it seems.

I remember Resident Evil as well. I didn't play it my self, but I used to sit by and watch my best friend play it and I would help him solve the riddles and stuff. Scary and fun at the same time.

Anyways, when I was a kid I was mad about Mario, and back in the day I loved CS and Q3. And then there was the Planetarion browser game, those were the days...

As a kid I liked Battlezone - I remember thinking if I could just travel long enough and far enough, I'd actually get to those foothills, lol.

Then later, Doom, of course. And the first Tomb Raider.

I also enjoyed the Twinsen games - I just love a good story. :D

Oh, and the Zork games - my sig line is borrowed from "Return to Zork". :D I still chuckle thinking about that bit...

Halo 1 is my all time favorite by far! Really looking forward to Overwatch at the moment.

Played the open beta last weekend and it was pretty good.
A nice FPS with some odd additions to it. ;)

Ow and to add to my personal list:

Streetracer on the SNES - I have played this so much with my brothers.
It was hilarious and a good competitor for the popular Mario Kart series.

The Tomb Raider collection !! I remember the first one coming out for iOS a year or so ago :eek2: Try and move, turn and shoot on that with on-screen controls !! censored

It's around £0.99p I think ? Unless I got it on a sale ? Pretty much worth it though for a PS1 classic on your mobile

Gotta mention Kula World !! (Yes.. That little beach ball munching on fruits and collecting keys) :p There was a trippy bonus level on this too !! A beach ball poppin' pills

Battlezone, wow that brings back some memories, with those lovely vector graphics on my old Atari 2600.

Since original posting, I've thought about some more, even older classics I LOVED and would probably still play today if I could.

Moon Patrol (with the little jeep/buggy jumping over crater and mines, whilst shooting UFO's)

Dig Dug (Pumping the critters full of air till they 'popped')

Jungle Hunt (Where you swung from rope to rope then into the sea stabbing croc's)

Circus Charlie (various level with different circus acts)

Out Run (loved the soundtrack to this one)

and of course the much loved Donkey Kong!

Donkey Kong !! I'm not a big fan of the original from 1981 but.. I loved Donkey Kong Country on snes !! :eek2: I was playing this after I got frustrated with Super Mario World  Thanks for bringing Donkey Kong up :D

Hey, that's a great oldie! A Comp Sci mate and I were pretty obsessed with BZ for years. I still think of those funky explosions you'd get, how the pieces never had a hope of making a whole. (Ok, ok, weirdly unhealthy detail to focus on but I did say we were Comp Sci grads) Even did a top-down version of our own that made absolutely no money (shareware ... pfffft!).

Commodore64 anybody? Turrican? Raid Over Moscow? Probably no takers there, so I'll have to go with Tomb Raider 1,2,3,4 on the PS1/2. 1 was evil, as you had to get to the blue 'save gem' before you could hold your position and save. As you may have guessed by my Rhino videos, many a PS 1 controller was swung by the cable and smashed on the floor when failing for the 30th. consecutive time to get to the save gem after spending 10 minutes only to fail on exactly the same move again....:mad::mad:

I did complete them all though. A few years later when moving I found bits of PS controller in several locations including on the curtain pelmet, under the TV, in the bottom of the magazine box and in an inverted lampshade on the wall!!

lolol, heck yes I busted at least 3-4 pads with this 'method' of expelling my frustrations.

Not played those titles you mention but did have a Commodore 64, used to prefer the 'Invade-a-load' to some of the actual games at times.

Though I did play a hell of a lot of Konami's 'Combat School' just could never beat the instructor at the end, he must have been the reason at least once for the need of a new joystick.

@max embarrassing to admit but back in my college days (1989-1991) a fellow student and myself tried to design/program a game which at the time was going to be our 'Ticket out of there' We called it 'Wulfrun Warriors' it was a cross between Street Fighter and our college class mates (even had voice samples of their regular sayings)

He did the bulk of the programming and I designed the characters in paint IIRC, worked on our Atari - ST and ran as jerky as hell but worked lol!

Made the mistake of lending the original a good few years back to someone I hardly knew, however the 'Claim to Fame' and this is a hand on heart true fact, THE Denise Lewis was in our class and we regularly sat and helped her with IT assignments so her character and voice in the game would have made a huge YT hit maybe lol

Amstrad CPC 6128 - Football Manager, Green Beret, Chuckie Egg and Wonderboy.

Original Atari - Pacman, Space Invaders, Asteroids

Atari 2600 - Ms. Pacman, Crystal Castles, Galaxian, Pole Position

SNES - SF2 World Warrior (Dhalsim was so easy to do Double Perfects with)
SF2 Champion Edition (hated Turbo edition - AI was cheap as fuck)
Mortal Kombat 1, 2, 3 and UMK 3 (3 was my favourite despite the fact that Raiden and Scorpion were NOT in it)
Nigel Mansell's World Championship and then of course...the Mario games.

Like Paul said in an earlier post, Super Mario Kart was awesome when smoking a joint, ESPECIALLY Rainbow Road.
(Try doing that NOW with less than sharp reflexes when using either Bowser or Donkey Kong on 150cc level!).
Super Mario World was awesome, closely followed by Super Mario Brothers 3.

Nintendo 64 - Mortal Kombat Trilogy (I still have that machine to this day - that now serves as my "gambling replacement therapy" lol). It's actually quite fun trying to remember all the old tricks and trying to "re-perfect" the game.

Oh yeah....there is one other thing I've noticed as I've gone past the age of 40. The old "video game reflexes" aren't anywhere near as sharp as they once were. Oh to be young again....

Loved OutRun like you say just cruising along to the soundtrack was great fun !

Also that car game where you had to crash into the criminals and damage their car enough to stop them before the time ran out..
It was a big hit in the arcades. Chase H.Q it was called (googled it)

Found it surprising mate, but some of the games for this system are fetching tidy pennies on ebay ATM.

I came across my old N64 and about 15 games (thought it had long being lost/thrown out) only this last week. Listed the more popular of the games and sold 9 for £140!

Nope, didn't have extra gambling sessions either lol :p

From the newer games i really enjoyed the Uncharted games. I just found out #4 was just released. Time to buy a PS4 i guess. Or is there a casino raffle or something where they give PS4s away at the moment? :D

The Uncharted games look really good but I've never got around to playing them :( Think I'll add them on the "Need to play" list

Jetpack in my younger days ) & Unreal tournament (pc online ) cracking game for online player shooter up )

which unreal tournament? :) i'm glad someone mentioned that game, it was the only game i ever played since it's release. More specifically, the original UT'99 edition, and playing only instagib mode.
a 38 odd hour session with the odd spliff break was the longest i had sat on that game, i have a slightly deformed ring finger near the nail where skin just kind of died from holding the old microsoft ball mouse in the same position for years on end. Nice to know i'm remembered though, even 10 years later a friend who still plays noticed someone who was using my nickname and claiming to be me, lol . unfortunately the newer unreal tournaments suck in comparison imo.

I have been playing computer games since i was 10 years old my original computer was a zx81 with 1k of memory bought the memory expansion pack which boosted it to 16k plus the tape deck to load and save games etc..

My all time favourite game would have to be the original elite i used to spend hours on this game and all them wire frame 3d graphics.

1984 was the year it was released and it was a space trading style game.

Elite was the business. It set a standard for gaming. My Atari ST- loving friend swore by it and was playing it religiously even back in '91! Never had the inclination myself to invest so much time into it but even then I appreciated its scope and depth of gameplay.

Plus I was a console gamer and something like Elite could have never been converted, they would have got to a title screen and that's it, never mind 'consoleizing' the controls!!

Did you play in the 2v2 instagib CTF ranking?
