Hi everyone,

I would like to ask if any of you have played progressive slots by Ainsworth, such as Jade Emperor, Dragon Pearl, Electric Night, etc. It's quite an old game but for some reason I am just stuck to it even though there's so many other machines.

I would like to understand about this type of progressive as I've played for some time and lost quite a lot of money there.

1) is it truly random or does the machine wait until a certain amount is collected before paying? I noticed that the mini and minor jackpots drop after a certain amount of money is accumulated. Same for the minor and major jackpots.

2) the game comes with up to 50 lines at 10 cents per bet and up to 75 bets. Can I ask if we need to bet max lines and max bets (on a 50 line machine at 10 cents per credit, it will cost $75 per bet) to win the jackpot?

I noticed many other games in the casino having such a game structure of 4 tier progressive and is interested in how to best strategise and manage bankroll.

It is a fun game and it does pay but the volatility is quite annoying with long streaks of cold - is this just random or is it a feature of the game?

What other money management strategy can I play to maximize my fun? I always have a br of 5k and it can be gone within an hour with 25 credit bets on 50 lines... So far I'm way negative on this game but I just enjoy it I can't help...

Hi bluesman... you're talking about a Brick and Mortar casino, and not online right? Not sure I have seen these game online anywhere.

The games you are talking about, IIRC, have progressives won by getting 5 of a kind wins (with and without wilds).

Firstly, yes they are random. Like all slot games, they have to be random and are tested as such. In Australia, there are more stringent rules than most countries with regards to how games can be created mathematically and the volatility of those games.

I dont believe your bet makes any difference to the chances of winning the progressives... do the progressive values change as you change your bet? If they do, then it makes no difference... if they dont, then you have a higher chance at max bet, but you should still have a chance at min bet unless it says in the rules that you must bet above a certain stake.

Did someone ring? You're playing one of the worst slots on the floor IMO, It's months and months if not year or more before those are hit usually and it's just a give it a try for a certain amount or short time and move on.

Yes tracemonkey, I'm referring to the game in a brick and mortar casino. In my country it's illegal to access online casino and there's only 2 brick n mortar casino here allowed license to operate.

Yes to qualify for the major progressive it needs 5 of a kind without any wild substitutes, together with a. Quad symbol which increases with the number of bets. That's why I suppose the chance of hitting is best of I max bet?

Not sure what you mean by the progressive changing when I change bets. I only noticed that the contribution to the progressive increases with higher bets. For example if I bet $5 the progressive increases by 1 cent, and if I max bet at $75 it jumps to 60 cents per spin, or something like that...

I'm always puzzled because I'm technically playing 75 per spin at max bet for a progressive top prize of around 25 to 30k, but not getting anything the last 1 year except premium player comps ... Gosh it sucks. If not for the fact I'm in love with the gameplay it does not make sense to play. In fact, duo fu duo CAI progressive or 88 fortune by bally posts better at over $1m top prize.

I don't know, I'm quite new to slots but there's something about wanting to at least hit the top prize, call it an "achievement", before moving on to other games... Am I normal? Haha

So I'm wondering if the machine is rigged or I'm just bad luck for over a year... I play around 3 sessions a week with a br of $5000 trying to bet at 25 per spin and I use the first 100 spin to decide I stay or go, and leave when I use up my br... It's been close to a year now and I see myself lose more than winning... So I'm wondering if I should have made more spin at lower bets or max bet the heck out of it for the br per session...

In fact it hits regularly I'll say every week whenever I'm away, just that it's not me... Even though I'm ploughing so much into it... Wonder if it's the timing cos I only go at hours I'm free after work..

Ainsworth slots I believe have the worst rtp at land casinos

The gameplay is quite addictive and easy to understand, that's why I'm hooked... What other games do you suggest?

The casino here is big on cash cove... But I think non progressive machines are boring?

Are you in Singapore? Anyway, it sounds like the progressives do have a higher chance with a higher bet, but the odds of that top progressive may be really low. If you are in Singapore, I believe it tells you in the help screens what the chances of hitting each progressive is... could be wrong there though.

Ok, now I know where you are ...and yes it is Singapore I'm sure. They love Cash Cove... god knows why, I hate the game, but each to their own!

There is a big trend towards progressive games, but actually I tend to avoid them where possible. I don't like the idea of funding a prize for someone else, and there is a reasonable amount of RTP in those huge prizes which is available to me at all times on a non-progressive game.

Each to their own of course... but I would personally avoid any Ainsworth games and stick to Bally, SG or IGT games. Some Konami are good too...

Yes I'm from Singapore. The regulators here require the machine to show the odds of hitting 5 symbols but it did not require the factoring in of the quad symbol which will definitely lower the probability.

I checked out the progressive and for Max bet, the meter jumps 10c each press, starting from 20k prize reset. There's no "must hit by" stated, but typically I will see the meter reset quite randomly once it touches around 25k... Was wondering how to calculate the no.of spin needed to move the meter by 5k...

I guess it's pure chance then... Damn I'm so gonna need a lucky rabbit foot!

Anyway, can I also ask, if there's a 2c, 5c, 10c machine (e.g ainsworth), is it always better to play on the highest denomination machine? I understand some people say it's better to play on 10c, but if the br requirements is double that of a 5c or 5x that of a 2c machine, and assuming all odds are the same, wouldn't a 2c machine be easier to hit with more presses for the same br? Not sure if my understanding is correct as I'm more a tables player...

Yes I don't know why they love cash cove... The payout sucks and the free games are scams... Even in 50c machines, I can get a free spin routine and not get anything!

Bally has this duo fu duo cai, and it's quite popular here. But the progressive payout of 1m is unlikely attainable... I've a mental disease of wanting to have that euphoria of hitting the main jackpot... As a sense of accomplishment, which is why I stuck to ainsworth because I thought the major jackpot at 20-30k is easier to hit... But I guess it's quite the same compared to a 1m prize on bally...

The Ainsworth games are all available online and generally have RTPs in the 94.07-94.35% range, which is 2% lower than most other developers. There aren't many casinos with them, some of the IoM based casinos have them, and I believe VS did, or do? The jackpots I presume are those where if you get 5OAK lines of card value symbols or premium symbols there are 4 progressives available? Or when you hit those lines and the 6th. reel is active? They're funny slots, there seems to be a lot of RTP in the base game and the features generally won't pay you more than 200x IIRC.

Don't chase progressives... you will lose an enormous amount of money. The top progressives, even at max bet, are likely in the millions to 1 chance area. Depending on size and configuration they will probably go once a year. The one you are playing is probably set to go once a month given the size you mention... but that will be across all the linked machines

I personally never play Ainsworth

Ainsworth are not the best choice of slots out there, that is for sure.
Think they have one of the lowest RTP settings in the slotting universum.
I have only tried them a few times online but never hit anything on them really.

If you like progressive slots there is so much more out there.
Netent has some decent ones and even Playtech has some fun progressives, I like their Age of Gods series however they are quite tight too. :)

Thing is there are very few machines without progressive... Are the odds and payout on non-peogressives higher?

Yes there is a 6th reel reserved for a discussion quad shot symbol, and you get to win over of 4 progressive prizes if you get 5 of a kind plus that special quad symbol. You hit the grand prize if there's no substitute symbol.

Yes, base game pays off quite well actually, with the other 3 smaller progressives. In fact, when I okay max bet, I do get my capital back at some point, especially when I get into the bonus features as the 6th reel will be full of the quad symbol which results in hitting multiple progressives at once on a 50 line game.

It's quite volatile and there's periods they don't pay at all but at times it just keep hitting the mini progressives...

I don't know how to describe my feelings with this game... Sometimes I get pissed with it yet there are days it pays well ... Like I say, there something mentally wrong with me lol

@trancemonkey @bluesman - Videoslots Casino has Ainsworth slots. They did used to have some slots that had those jackpots when you get wins with the 5 of a kinds or with wilds as well? But not sure if they still have them slots. They do I am sure have 1 or 2 though with this such feature still. But they removed some over a year ago. :)

I hate those types of games... IGT have done some too. Some players like them, I'm sure. I don't.

Is there any reason? Im just curious because the casino host and the tech also ask me why don't I choose other games to play, but always stick to the same game all the time... They see me there whenever I visit...

Honestly, I just don't like them. The progressives look like they should be easy to win, but they aren't. There are much better games with much better ways to win progressive bonuses out there.

What's your take on this "lightning link" game? I see many play there too and the price of 180k drops every week...

Am I right to say the key difference between progressive and non progressive machines are mainly better odds and payout, but in a non progressive it's a bit more boring due to the lack of the thrill of hitting the progressive? I'm just wondering why there are so little non progressives at the casinos...

The trend at the moment is towards progressive games. Mainly started by Lightning Link, which remains one of the best games of recent times and often copied and iterated on by other manufacturers. I would play that over Quadshit any day of the week...

After your inputs, I am going to step out and explore. I don't know if lightning link is volatile in MBS, but honestly in my few attempts at it ice not had any luck of even free games, in spite of betting big... Which brings me to the following questions I hope you can help...

1) these machines, do they get tight and not pay until they have amassed a fixed level of funds from other players?
2) do I have a better chance of winning the progressive with big or max bets, or should I just bet max lines and min bets and enjoy the time? I'm getting demoralized with lack of winning lol... It's sending me a message to go back to the table but it's boring without my friends. Somehow dealers don't smile and going one against them is not exactly enjoyable.
3) how many spins does it take to tell if a machine is tight and when to move on to other games? Is 100 spins a good gauge?
4) how would you manage bankroll and make sure you go home with some money?

Thanks mate!
