Hold Alt down when you hit the numbers and when you lift it the magic should be there.
Make sure you use Alt and not Alt Gr

LMAO... Using charmap is how I find the numeric codes to enter, such as Alt + 0163, which is "£" (pounds)...

Someone else actually uses charmap... Surprised!! Thought I was being ancient by still using it...

lol, well, except youd still have to click and use the mouse to pull up the list, be it character map, or a notepad of them all written out...unless you've one incredible eidetic memory

Whenever I'm trying to type any odd character I just google it then copy and paste it - it's easier than trying to remember where I saved the list.
