A simpler way to play Blackjack (Poll)

Would you consider playing a version of Blackjack where no one draws cards, including the dealer?

Sorry for the dupe post, please consider adding your feedback underneath the (Poll) thread? Thanks!

I'm continuing to conduct market research to support a new casino game that I created called 21 STUD. This poll is meant for any player that has played Blackjack before (so probably most of ya lol)

It is essentially a combination of Blackjack and Casino War. The question is... Would you play a stud version of Blackjack? There would be no splitting or double down. But Ace/Ten OR a pair of Aces would count as BJ. You lose ties except on BJ which is a push.

I would love to post a link to my YouTube video too if anyone can vouch that's OK.

Thank you all for your feedback and attention! I'm thinking I might make it to this year's G2E also.... We will see

Sorry for the dupe post. I did something wrong creating this on my phone. :/

Can't figure out how to delete one of em

Personally this feels like a lazy way of inventing a new game and wouldn't appeal to me at all.

I play Blackjack that has different Side Bets, but anything that messes with the core game rules doesn't interest me.

I'd be more interested in playing a completely new card game, but it seems that "inventors" must find this particular difficult to do, as new cards games not based on something else are rarer than hens teeth.

Good luck with pushing your game though.

We did something very similar in our land based casino back in 1998.

All 7 players stood, regardless of initial deal, only the dealer drew as they had to draw to a minimum of 17 and this rule, at the time we could not change.

Only a very small sample as best I recall (was a long time ago ) but it did not change the RTP of the game at all, however subconsciously the players who agreed to the experiment seemed to think it was like throwing money into the wind, until the end results/stats were shown.

So trying to marry some feedback from the dupe thread (sorry about that). Allow me to explain the premise for why the proposed change concerning card draw.

It's not so much a lazy reinvent but a facilating means to double the match bets volume. Players can match against the dealer first OR second card. I've witnessed that players enjoy the match betting far more than the actual game of 21 - in addition to the fact the many people *know* Blackjack but don't necessarily know *how* to play.

Interesting point on the players standing pay while the dealer draws. But I would agree that feels cheaty on the casino edge. However if nobody can hit and the house edge goes to the tie, so long as a player never loses on a BJ, that seems like an easier pill to swallow.

So let me sum up:

- Players can't draw cards
- The dealer must draw until 17+
- Player lose on push
- Players can not split or double down

Am I missing something? :xxx:

Here's the bulleted list of deets:

- Players can't draw
- Dealer can't draw
- Aces or Ace/Ten Pays 3:2
- Non BJ total higher than dealer 1:1
- If Dealer and Player BJ tie, push
- If Dealer and Player Non BJ tie, lose
- If Dealer total higher, lose

Perks would be double match bets against either dealer first or second card, with a third match bet if the player is dealt suited Aces or similar match. Players wouldn't be able to disrupt the shoe, game would be faster, and if players sit out you can still change your bet if ya want.

I forgot to mention this means you can't BUST anymore, the dealer can't outdraw your pat 20s, and players can't be lectured on "how to play" midflight

The only attraction of blackjack over a coin flip is the illusion of control by choosing to hit stand double or split.

Your version is essentially a heads or tails boring idea, sorry I just think you would do better focusing your energy elsewhere

Let's consider the fact that Casino War is a "real game" on the casino floor.

How then would this version of Blackjack compare? Honestly, I agree the traditional Blackjack player that focuses on the base wager may not like this game. However, running the game this way may still appeal to the casual gambler and it is a solution to offering a plurality of match bet wagers.

I think you might struggle initially with the lack of actual player participation and decision-making in each round, but it could be livened up with some interesting side-bets.

The main interest is on the turn of the dealer's second card but the player might have already lost at this point (if they have 4 and 5 and the dealer is showing a 10 for example), so you could have some sort of 'get out of jail' scenario where if the dealer ends up with a suited pair as their hand, everyone wins regardless. Some specific suited pairs for the dealer could pay the player 2:1 or even better. This gives the aforementioned player an interest in the hand up to the dealer's second card at all times, and also gives them a chance of attaining more than just a standard 1:1 payout without relying on side bets. There could be genuine moments of suspense and theatre when that second card is revealed.

Best of luck with your venture :)

Thank you Lemon. I'm actively working with New Millenium Gaming to get approval for the felt layout with Omni-table support and hope to be at this year's G2E.

Ultimately, a player electing all the side bets will have action unfolding every phase of the game, from the initial deal (being dealt a pair), the first card reveal (Match 1), and the second card reveal (Match 2 and Base Wager).

The first card reveal also offers the player the chance to know if they win right away, very common with a '2' dealer flip. It's got a good pace and is surprisingly fun. Imagine being dealt suited aces and the dealer getting aces. Mmm payouts :)

As a keen Blackjack player, with the best will in the world the idea sounds terrible. It wouldnt interest me in the slightest.

BJ has stood the test of time due to players making decisions on every hand, and the on the edge of your seat stuff comes from the occasional big hand where splits and double downs happen, and you are praying the dealer busts when said hands occur etc!

The 2 innovations that have stood out for me with BJ recently are the "freebet" version, where you can split and double for free (Dealer push on 22), and the online "unlimited BJ" which allows one table to host many players online and each can choose their own action. This solved the problem of smaller bettors finding a seat at a live online BJ table perfectly.
