i hope this doesnt offend anyone and im not trying to glorify spamming (in fact i think all spammers should be shot :machinegu or worse:xxx with a flagpole)
an odd question i know but the amount of spam i receive they must be making some money from it else why would they do it?

say a spammer sends out 10000 spam emails for a certain casino
say he gets a 100 takers that sign up under his link and then he get 50 regular depositers of $100 a week =$5000 a week
how much would the affiliate make ?

Hopefully he will make $0, because all responsible casinos would close his affy account an withhold all his commissions.
(Spamming is not allowed).

Otherwise it would depend on which deal he has with the casino;
CPA - he would get a set one-off amount for each player that signs up, regardless of how much they deposit.
Rev-Share - He gets a % of all the players net loss. In this case, the amount of deposits is irrelevant, and if one or two players have big wins they could easily cancel out all his earnings from 100's of other players for a whole month (or longer if negative carry-over applies).

Firstly, I doubt that conversion for that kind of promotion, (if spam can be "called" promotion ) could be 1:100. They are probably converting at 1:500 or more.

How much they made? Well they count on quantity not quality, so sending millions of emails would make them to refer certain number of people. If conversion is 1:1000 and they send 10000 email, that's 10 players. If you take $300 as a player value for affiliate, that's $3000. But, hopefully they will get caught and get $0. :p

That would be one hell of a great CPA deal if they were getting $300 per player, especially considering how they converted that player. I would hate to think that a Spam affiliate is getting rewarded that good when the rest of us are working our a$$ off to get a few good ones for Rev Share.

I was thinking of player value on RevShare Deal. So, basically Revshare Deal usually gives better player value then CPA, but takes more time to pay off.

I would also hate to think that, considering their efforts and efforts of fair affiliates. But, there wouldn't be so much spammers, if they are not making money. But, it's monkey business anyway. Sooner or later, they will get caught and take responsibility for their actions. Hopefully...

Good point. Spam marketing hasn't really worked (Unless it's a Nigerian money scam

I think that 1 in 500 conversion is still EXTREMELY high for spam. It's more like 50 in 100,000. The spam mailing lists offered for sale are huge and have a lot of addresses of people who may have played once at a casino 7 years ago and wouldn't play if you guaranteed the win.

Spamming mail is like blackhat websites, you need huge volume to make any money at all. Some blackhat folks produce 100,000 websites to get 50 players, and then they get shut down by google and do it all over again.

It's a numbers game, you need huge numbers to make these sorts of things work.

Which ends up being just as much trouble as doing it the honest way, so I don't get these people.

I suspect that a lot of the spammers make little, if any money. They may have bought a "how to get rich online" e-book or CD, and they proceed to tell them how to promote a casino, how to harvest addresses from sources, how to hide from spam filters, etc.

These poor saps spend weeks or months at this before throwing in the towel. If you look at the literacy level of many of these emails, they are not the best and the brightest out there.

Also, many affiliate programs have a minimum amount for payments, so it may take quite a while to get enough revenue to actually get a cheque. I suspect many spammers give up before reaching this point.

I notice I will get a rash of spam all along the same line for the same casino...most probably because someone promoting such a scheme achieved a high search engine placement. These folks also profit from bringing in new affiliates as well as conning the poor wannabe spammers out of their hard earned cash for their "make money while you sleep" schemes.

There are even ones I feel kind of sorry for...people who don't promise you will get rich, or win, who have somewhat modified the "samples" to reflect some of their personal integrity.

Hiya: To follow up, "and derail the thread a little bit", hehehe, As an Affiliate, do you know how many Players you have playing at Casino XXXX, that clicked your link? Even more, Do you know who those players are?

Example, A thru Z players. You contacted all of them. 5 of them are now playing off your link. Do you know you have 5 players, or do you just know that you have 1 or more, and they are losing, and you are getting a check each month?

and, do you know the 5 players are b-d-g-k-l? I ask, because it would seen to be counter productive to NOT Know, and to have player g signed up, and then to spam player g?

Different casinos use different affiliate software, some are from the casino software provider, some are proprietary and some are from affiliate software providers.

They all provide different levels of information.

Most of them provide how many people clicked through to the casino, how many signed up, how many deposited and how much money was won.

None of them provide names.

Some go into detail of what games are played the most, what countries players are from, and when they signed up. That sort of info helps affiliates make sure the aff site has the kind of content the visitors are looking for.

I have seen affiliate stats that give identifiers to individual players, but at no time are actual identities or names or anything specific ever released.

So, no, there is no way to know who is or isn't signed up through your aff account.

That's a very valid point and one that I keep hammering home to affiliate managers who I keep sending spam complaints to.

Fact is these A holes do make money and lots of it. Anything their (the spammers) make the casino makes 3 time more.

Unfortunately some aff programs just deny the fact that spammers are making a killing & then they look the other way.

However 10,000 emails wont bag you 100 players. To reach those target's you'd be sending out 1.5 - 2million.

With all that crap flying around no wonder we've got bottlenecks

Cheers
T
