It's been just ten years ago...and the World never been the same.
Do you remember what were you doing ? I can say I'll never forget. Never.
RIP

I remember. We live by the airport. I would never oversleep because there was one flight that would always wake me up. I over slept they stopped all air traffic. I remember my husband waking me up. We watched for days with tears in our eyes. With thoughts of who could be so evil to even think of this. I remember when I woke up calling all my family members. Many fly all over the country for work. My brother missed his flight thank god... His son called him right before he was to get on. His son was sick. He would have been on the plane that hit the Pentagon. I know every 9-11 he hugs his kid and says Thank You.... As well as say our prayers.

The only good thing that came out of 9-11. Once a year our country becomes united. It doesn't matter what your politics are. We all felt 9-11 and remember the pain. Once a year we all become human.

I truly wish that was the case, but there are far too many people who use the tragedy as a money maker...from the bloggers with an agenda asking for donations to "keep the message alive", to the politicians posting "tributes" on Youtube complete with campaign ads and website links, to the creep in front of the mall selling flags made in China...the 9-11 porn has been extra egregious this year.

Your brother sounds like a good guy, and I'm glad for your family that circustances kept him home.

The morning of the attack I had the Today Show on the TV, and I was trying to get the kid to admit that he wasn't really sick, he just wanted to stay home from school. Today cut to a live shot of the first tower in flames. As we watched, another plane came on the screen, and as the kid was saying, "That plane looks awfully close...WHOA!" it hit the other tower. We watched for awhile in stunned silence, then the kid just got up, grabbed his book bag, kissed me on the cheek, and took off for school. He needed to be around his friends. I went to work, but no work was done that day. We took the radio outside, put on NPR and sat in the grass, smoking and drinking cup after cup of coffee. And yeah, even I cried.

I wish, ten years on, we could get to the point where, instead of grieving, we could use this as a celebration of life....the lives of the victims, the lives of their families, the lives of everyone they touched, and the lives of everyone in every country that was targeted. Fanatics have always been with us, and they always will. The trick is to persevere, to live your life without fear of the other...because the fanatics can take your things, your property, your life...but not what makes you a human being.

My daughter was only 7 months old, I too was watching the Today show. Both my husband and I were on vacation that week, we saw the same thing. We both just watched with our mouth wide open and with tears in our eyes. Only a few days before we had just left our apartment in Battery Park, in Manhattan and couldn't believe what we were watching.

I remember holding my daughter so tight and crying. The phones were all busy, cell phones wouldn't work, I couldn't get in touch with my parents who were still down in Manhattan. After about 2 days my father called, his voice so quiet, letting me know that my mother and he were okay. They were evactuated and on in Long Island. Not to long after that, I got a call from the building management were we have our apartment, asking for permission to go in side to asses the damages. Thank the lord all we had was some soot in the apartment, and nothing else. It was almost 3 weeks before we were aloud to go back into the apartment. I did lose some friends that day. I remember when my friends husband called and told us Kerry was there and they could not find her, til this day she has not been found.

The one thing this day in history has given me and my family is love of life. We never know what is going to happen from 1 minute to the next, and you could be on top of the world, it only takes a second for you to fall off. For all those who were lost, you will never be forgotten, and for the first responders, a big Thank YOU!!! May all those lost RIP, and to their families, my heart and condolences go out to you.

10 years really goes fast. It seems like it happened yesterday.

My first (and so far only) visit to New York was in the spring of 2001. I celebrated my 18th birthday there. It is such a beautiful city.

I will never forget the images we saw in the news on September 11th and in the days that followed. I especially remember the terrible images of people jumping from the towers.

It is also important to remember that people from 90 different countries were killed in these attacks. So it really affected the whole world regardless of religion and race. Norway is a small country and USA is our most important ally. The bonds between Norway and USA has always been strong so I think that all Norwegians, like me was absolutely stunned to see these evil acts being committed in a free and democratic country.

A Norwegian architecture firm (

We are 12 hours ahead of the US and I was back home after a hard day's work when I watched in horror the crashing of the planes into the 2 towers. Some of us discussed the next morning and some initially thought it was an accident.

This issue also brings out the devil in us. I had a subordinate who was worried along with others that terrorist attacks might occur in Hong Kong. We believed that even if the attacks were carried out they would be in the more renowned buildings within the territory and she said she was relieved because she now felt very safe. She had no sympathy for those who lost their lives on 11/9 and I threw a file at her on the spot such was my anger.

On the bright side and no disrepect intended today (11/9 in hong kong) is the opening of the horse racing season in Hong Kong so I will be pretty busy soon.

Like most people, we sat in stunned disbelief as the news story developed with those shocking and incandescent images on our television sets, followed by anger that such a massacre of innocents could have been deliberately engineered by a bunch of loonies. We were less than impressed at news footage out of the Middle East that showed some celebrations going on in the streets, too.

My wife and I were taking a particular interest because we were due to fly to the States on holiday in a few weeks. We went, and it was both uplifting and eerie in Washington, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Las Vegas - all of which were on our schedule. Uplifting because the wave of intense patriotism that followed this tragedy was remarkable, and the determination of ordinary Americans to overcome it was inspiring. This spirit was very much in evidence from the way people we spoke to voiced their feelings to the public displays of the stars 'n stripes on homes and cars, and even the approach taken generally by the media and celebs.

It was also a little eerie, because we noticed, especially at airports, the smaller throngs...and hotels rates were slashed dramatically, particularly in Las Vegas. All told, it turned out to be one of the most memorable holidays ever, the tough security measures notwithstanding.

This weekend our television screens are again full of memorial programs on 9/11, and that is the way it should be so that we never forget this horror, even when the world's current economic problems tend to distract us.

One of the features I watched just yesterday was on the sensitivity, skill and meticulous attention to detail devoted to the 9/11 memorial and its surrounding inner-city forest. I can't wait to go to New York again to walk around Ground Zero, which we have since visited again after the rubble had been cleared. It is going to be absolutely beautiful and a fitting tribute to both the spirit of America and the memory of those so tragically lost. The memorial panels, reflection pools, waterfalls and oak forest will make a great setting for the rise of the new buildings, sending a message to the world that America is still open for business, no matter the challenges past and present.

I will be among the billions watching the US mark this tenth anniversary today and wishing closure for those berieved and continued success in bringing those responsible to book.

I was asleep when my wife woke me after the first tower was hit. I thought a small plane hit the tower in distress. Then I saw the second tower hit and knew this wasn't an accident but rather an attack on the U.S..

I can't believe it's been 10 years.

I was asleep at the time because I work Mids.

Light a candle for 9/11 today.
My Heart goes out to all
God Bless America

Ten years ago, DJ Sammy & Yanou released a version of “Heaven” featuring the words of a 5 year old girl who lost her father in the 9/11 attacks. Well this is the updated story of a girl from age five through today in her high school years. We bet you can’t keep a dry eye through it…REALLY!

I remember it well. Will never forget. Broke my heart seeing those people jump/fall. I don't want to start a debate as to which is the correct term, but I use the word "pushed" [by whoever carried out the attacks].
What must it have been like for the workers in the second tower [to be hit], when they no doubt stood and watched in horror after the first strike, only to see a plane head for their tower?

I also remember watching footage of people in the middle east (can't remember which country) celebrating like their country had won the world cup. Men, women and children dancing with joy in the streets as they watched so many innocent people die. :(

2977 souls.

RIP.

I am a delivery driver and I just turned off exit 12 off I 84 in Fishkill, NY (Midhudson valley). A "light plane" as was reported on 770am talk radio (Curtis Sliwa) that had crashed into the tower. I thought ...ok, that was not good, but I thought the damage was minimal...then ...then...it was confirmed it was a commercial plane...then the second plane crashed into the next tower.

I remember watching oncoming drivers and watching their reactions...they seemed unconcerned..were they not listening to the news? , did they have their music on? Are they not listenig???? This is when I knew we were under attack.

I delivered to IBM in Fishkill and told the the employees of IBM, "DID you hear???" and I heard a guy say that I was an idiot. That it was just a light plane, then the girl she talking to said, "Why would she say that?, maybe there is an attack on us"

Then, travelling back over the MidHUdson Bridge watching the sky..and holding my breath...maybe the bridges would be next.

But at the customer that I picked from to deliver to an electronics company, I walked in and they were in tears. They had the coverage on their computer....both towers in smoke...and then the collapse.

No cell phone signal. Nothing until I returned home.

Then I saw the aweful tv coverage of people jumping. from the towers

I remember. Never will forget.

God Bless to you all.
