While I believe that it was not your intention to insult or belittle someone else it would have been better if you could pick your words better instead of simply adding 'no offense'. My kid likes to make fun of practically everyone and when it is relayed back to him that he might have hurt others' feelings he shrugs it off by saying he's only joking. The harm had been done and adding a disclaimer doesnt make it more palatable to the recipient. That said, I am sometimes guilty myself of using phrases such as "no offence' or 'I dint mean it', or 'just joking'.
