3Dice Tournaments- food for thought

Oh Geez

How did this thread get more oxygen again??

It's all been explained earlier in the thread.....basically people who WIN more generally ENTER more. It's simple really.

As bowlingbob pointed out, wamto isn't exactly down on their luck.

What amuses me is that players complaining have no issue when THEY have a purple patch and win a batch of tourneys.....but whine when someone else does. I mean, how do you think it looks to other players when YOU win tourneys?? "Oh come on...not that wamto again...they always seem to win prizes"....catch my drift?

I was gonna comment but I can't find my tin foil hat. ROFL :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I can send you another under the 12 month warranty if you remind me of your original order no. Did you forget the first years' insurance included free? Loss/accidental damage is covered. Lightning strikes are not.

I do sometimes wonder about the expectations, mainly unrealistic, of gamblers. You all play the same slot in the tourneys, and some will play on the up-curve, some the opposite. Somebody will start and bang max-stake and get the big hit then, making them difficult to catch without gambling on extra time-buys etc. Any free lunch from a tourney result is good. I mentioned my $40 at Dash recently for a third-place in a freebie. My best result in years of MG play. I don't sit observing the names of winners bemoaning my luck, or thinking they must be 'rigged'. It must be that little chap that monitors play at 3dice, pressing buttons to change luck - now he's obviously interfering with tourneys too. The evil little bastard.

Well,

I am familiar with wamto at 3Dice, so I know she is not saying they are "rigged". I am sure she is just venting because it does appear that way sometimes. The same winners, that is. I have seen several posts about "repeat" winners in the 3Dice forum.

Luck, sometimes you got it, most times you don't.

I only play the tournies when I am out of funds, mainly because they tend to be boring, at least to me. Or I play them to take a break from real play when things are not hitting.

They did change the "buy-in" tournies at least, so a player can't buy in ALL of the rebuys at once. That made me avoid those since I did not want to invest all $10.00 to $$$$$$ , just to feel like I had a fair chance. Now, it is one at a time, which I think, will bring more players to them when they notice it.

I was wondering if they were ever going to do that. It's not really a RE-buy if you buy them all at the same time. I don't play them anyway but I've heard others bitch about it. It did like a weird system.

I haven't played at an online casino or visited here in close to two years now, and thought I would drop by to see what's new in the world of online gaming (took me a little bit to get situated with this website again). I was pretty surprised to see this thread had been updated recently!

Anyhow, it's funny (and sad at the same time) what happens when gambling starts to take over your life. Emotions trump reality. Reading this thread was a bit embarrassing to say the least. I am surprised at how much time and energy I put into analyzing free tournaments with $5 and $10 prizes. Definitely not a high point of my membership here. 3Dice deserved better.

Welcome back. :D

Once you realize playing these tournaments is basically like playing at Pogo it doesn't really matter much.

Even if you win a tournament you seem to have about a 1 in a million chance of seeing your 10 dollars exceed 15.

I win my share of these things considering I only play the free one and I don't even play them every day but I don't even remember the last time I had a balance over 15 dollars.

It's just play money, really.

I actually disagree with you. I've managed a decent cash out on 3 or 4 occasions from a $10 comp.

Win some lose some. I have won a few tournaments from 3 dice even before i started depositing. I cant say the same for some of the RTG casinos (IMO).

I don't know what it is about 3dice but it seems to be the only place I remember have tournaments. I don't know if it's because of their chat setup but I always forget other casinos even have tournaments. I play the 3dice ones in spurts but I don't think I've ever played a tourney at another casino.

Skiny I agree with you that for the most part the chances of winning anything in real is a complete long shot and its nothing more than play money. I've had more than my share of luck in winning money in VIP tournaments but when you go into real mode its like a graveyard with the slots. What's funny is the amazing hits I get in tourney mode on the games and what the slots really do when its in real mode. I believe they juice up the tourney rtps to produce these wins. I win a few hundred a month on average in VIP tourneys and my rtp on the slots in real is always in the low 80s%. It's fun to play the tourneys and beat out the competition but I have very little expectations of ever winning anything in real off them given how tight the casino is.

These games are really just all super high variance compared to slot games from some other casinos. 10 or 20 dollars isn't a lot of money to start with when you play really high variance games. It is possible to hit big playing these games but it seems the majority of the payouts reside in lines of 4 or 5 of the top paying symbols.

The slots are all marked medium, high and very high variance but I seem to have better luck low rolling the high or very high variance games than the medium. Realistically the medium variance should give me more play time over the long haul but I don't think there's really enough difference in the variance of these games for it to be all that noticeable.

The variance of these games are what make them appear to be tight. You can easily roll out 10 bucks at 15 cents a spin and rarely see your wager back. Even free spins often hit nothing almost every spin but if you hit 4 or 5 of the top paying lines in free spins you can double your balance in one spin. I haven't done a comparison of pay tables with other casinos. I'm only using my own game play and memory but my experience with these games is that the bottom 3/4 of the pay table pays very little and the top 1/4 is where you can win money.

The last time I had one of these ten dollar tournament wins I lost the 10 dollars at minimum bet in about 15 minutes and hit 3 bonus features on the way down. That's because I didn't catch any of that top 1/4 of the pay table so the features aren't paying what they cost to hit them. And yes, it's true I'm playing with free money so it doesn't really matter. But when I'm playing with money that's going to be virtually impossible to cash out with, I consider it play money whether it's 10 dollars or 10 thousand.

Now if you want to talk about tight slots. I make several deposits at Omni and I can't even get a bonus feature until last night. After losing at Bodog I decide to give Omni another shot and finally get a couple of back to back bonus features that take my balance from 30 to 90. Then I roll out the entire 90 dollars at minimum bet without seeing another bonus feature. It takes a god awful long time to minimum bet 90 dollars to zero without a single free spin. It took several deposits just to see the two free spins I did get. Apparently It'll take another several deposits to see another one. Which isn't going to happen because I don't like averaging one bonus feature every 100 dollars worth of 20 and 25 cent spins. I might lose at Bodog too but at least the games have more than 2 scatters. lol

The thing that really bugs me about Omni is the pop up offering me a deposit bonus after I make my deposit with no link to the terms and conditions. Not even a name for the bonus I'm being offered so I can be sure I'm reading the right terms and conditions even if I do manage to find them on their website. I was offered 150% bonus last night that again I had to decline because I refuse to accept a bonus with no knowledge of the terms and conditions and after I lost the 90 at minimum bet I complained to support about these blind bonus offers and they said they would pass it on. Then they offered me the bonus even though I'd played the deposit already. The problem with these bonuses is they cut out a great deal of the available games and tack a 25x WR on to the deposit + the bonus. So 90 dollars couldn't get me a bonus feature at minimum bet. Now I'm starting with about 45 and an 1800 dollar WR and I'm not even allowed to play all the slot games. You want to talk about play money? I got one bonus feature out of the 45 at 20c per spin.

3Dice might be super high variance but at least the slot games HAVE 3 scatters. lol

Yeah I get what you are saying but theres only a couple slots at 3dice I would classify as super high variance and thats Arctic and Tuts. Funny how for a long time though Arctic had a medium variance tag. Just using Zeit for the slot stats you can see a lot of the games don't even come close to hitting their maximum payout potentials which would indeed classify them as super high variance. Games like Enchanted or Skunks as examples have the highest real wins of 1000x the bet but they should be capable of much bigger yet they dont. The games that do tend to see their maximums on occasion are Arctic, Fortune Falls, and Tuts. I don't play those but maybe I should since they at least seem to hit max payouts once in a while for players. I tend to have way better luck in a real casino of seeing some decent 200-500x type payouts with regularity but online its so rare and I put through tens of thousands of spins online yet hardly ever see decent wins. It should be the other way around that online should be looser than land-based but for me that simply don't happen.

Another annoying thing that started occurring with 3dice software is I reinstalled it and now when I leave the software open it takes over my computer every few minutes popping up to the front of another task. I can be watching a movie in full screen and if the 3dice client is open it will take control and minimize the movie on me. Same with surfing web etc. I've never seen a software in my life do anything like that. I've tried reinstalling it /rebooting checking properties of the application and nothing suggests it should be taking over my PC but it is.

Wow! A few hundred from the VIP slot tournies a month? I'm lucky if I win two or three. Do you ever stack the $10 wins and start with $200 and a bigger rollover? I play my share of the VIP tournies but I'm coming to the conclusion that if I can't win $$ in tourney mode why in the hell would I be able to win in real.

I've been asking why the casino pops to the front of all other applications randomly for a year. I've yet to even see a possible suggestion.
