I'm not sure I'd classify BDBA again as low-medium. That slot can definitely devour a decent bankroll with no remorse.

To the OP I'm primarily a high variance so I can't offer much input player although I'd suggest you try slots such as Thunderstruck, Spring Break, Eagle Wings and Pure Platinum just to name a few. I'm sure others can chime in!

Maybe you're right, haven't played that extensively, but just felt it was more towards med....1c p line and any win with the wild is 5x so does keep you going longer than the other ones mentioned....

Well in my experience I've never really suffered a brutal session on any of the following...

Loaded, Hitman, Avalon. Sure win isn't too bad either. And Agent Jane Blonde, Tomb Raider and Thunderstruck have been reasonably good to me. I seem to have a knack for getting an early hit of free spins on those three. The bit where I struggle is quitting when I'm ahead lol.

Not sure if you are aware, but Agent Jane Blonde is a direct clone (exactly the same slot, but with different symbols) as Thunderstruck (and about 5 other MG slots). Also Sure Win is a clone of Loaded.
And they also have a slot called "Santa Paws" which is a direct clone of Avalon - but much more fun at this time of year! :p

I would agree though, that most of those are medium variance, as are the majority of MG slots.
Variance is in the eye of the beholder to some extent, but I would advise the OP avoid all non-bonus slots, all progressive slots, those with less than 9 lines, and the 243 ways ones with some sort of "wild shitstorm" feature like TS2, IR, TFROL, etc. as they are all high variance IMO.

My favourite medium variance slots are Scoop the Cash, The Great Galaxy Grab (or it's clone Jason & the Golden Fleece), Ladies Nite (clone of Thunderstruck - but I've had MUCH better luck with the ladies!), Glory of Rome... etc. etc. - there really are too many to mention! ;)

Yes I'm also a fan of Scoop The Cash. Other medium variance MG slots that I like are Riviera Riches, Your Lucky Day, Gold Factory, Monsters in the Closet, Sugar Mama, Cashanova, Private Eye, Madhatters, and Shoot. Most of these have a bonus round and free spin feature Gold Factory and Shoot are clones.

These are medium variance I wont play MGs high variance slots as I never win anything on them. I think if you wanted to take another step down into low variance I would suggest Halloweenies, Munchkins, and Dino-Mite.

You trying to hit a bonus?

I'd agree with KasinoKing that most MG video slots are medium variance (I haven't tried many of the classic slots). You'll want to avoid progressives of course.

You can often get a rough idea of the variance for a particular slot before playing by checking out the feature. If it's something like 20 free spins at a 6x multiplier, you know it's going to be high variance. If it's 20 spins at a 2x multiplier, it probably isn't too bad. Another thing you could look at is the 5 of a kind payouts. If they pay out big, you might be looking at a high variance slot.

Just remember that slot games are pretty high variance by their nature, so start out small and raise your bet when you feel more comfortable with the games. Even a low to medium variance slot can easily take several hundred bets from you in short order. High variance slots can get truly crazy, giving you either hundreds of a dead spins or wins well over 200x your bet.

I would actually consider Immortal Romance to be a medium variance slot, it has some jackpot style wins but they are extremely rare, so they aren't taking up too much of your expected return. Winning over 200x is actually surprisingly uncommon, meaning there are more medium size wins. The finer reels of life and playboy are a bit more volatile - but if you play the running wilds feature on playboy you're looking at extreme variance.

Otherwise, most high variance games will be found on other software. Playtech games like Great Blue, Rome and Glory, and all their clones can pay out 1000x+, you rarely see those wins from MicroGaming slots. NetEnt's Dead or Alive is another well known high variance slot, dominating the 1000x+ screenshot thread.

KK, I was aware that Sure Win was a Loaded clone and that AJB & Ladies Nite were clones of TS. But I wasn't aware of Santa Paws (which I have never played) being a clone of Avalon. I think I'll have to check that one out, so thanks for the info on that one

I do like playing Santa's Wild Ride, TS2 and IR...to an extent. The extent being that I always min bet on SWR and IR and sometimes bet double the min on TS2 (but only if I am feeling confident that it's "on a roll"...which is not very often lol)

I also like Starscape. But obviously its bonus round makes it different from Loaded and Sure Win. And you find yourself needing to hit the red or orange "planetoid/asteroid/whatever the hell it's supposed to be called" with the 3x multiplier in order to enjoy a profitable playing session. So for that reason, I play it less. I also only min bet on Starscape, whereas on Loaded and Sure Win, I would not min bet as I have much more confidence in those two slots "playing well".

Play one of the Thunderstruck clones for a while and then switch to Secret Santa. I don't know what the difference is in variance but it'll seem like it's spinning so slow you'll want to play Solitaire while you wait.
