Hi all. I've been trying to deposit with my debit card at a couple of sites today, and usually the debit card deposits are hit and miss. Today I received a new message when I entered my deposit amount. I entered the denomination, clicked continue got a page that said my transaction was being processed and that I should register with something called 3-D secure. This page quickly flashed off and I got the standard "We're sorry your transaction could not be completed, please try one of these other options" page. Does anyone know what this is and how one goes about "registering" their card? My personal opinion is that this is something visa has cooked up to reject deposits once and for all. But I am just guessing. SOmeone, please fill me in if you know for sure what this is about. Thanks.

Bryan, any info you may have is appreciated as well.

Thanks for the reply CM. Do you have any idea how I get this "registration" thing accomplished? The screen that comes up on the deposit page doesn't indicate how one gets this done. It says that you can "register as you go and future deposits will go smoothly", whatever that means. ANy suggestions as to how this whole thing works??

registration

I had this same thing happen to me. It automatically redirected me to a window to register my visa. Now I can't make any deposits. Think the US players are screwed either way. Can't make a deposit with or without it. I finally got all my winnings from all casinos and I am still in the positive. It is getting to hard to get your money. Consider it a blessing. I think the end is near for the US players.

No idea since I haven't a clue what casino you dealing with. Contact their customer support.

Caveat: US PLAYERS SHOULD ONLY BE PLAYING ONLINE IF THEY UNDERSTAND THAT THEY MIGHT NOT BE PAID WINNINGS

It was a CR site, I tried their customer support and they gave me so much run around that I really left more confused than before I contacted them. How could the Visa people invade the site's software/deposit pages?? I am starting to think that this "registration" thing is a way for Visa to identify and deny all US deposits. Bye Bye online gambling, time to go I guess.

I have had the same thing with VISA and just canceled the option when it cames up.
I did deposit succesfully after this but not used my VISA for some time and I am in UK.

Then why are casinos taking our money? If they can't pay, then why not just ban us? Isn't that a more simple way?

VBV and SecureCode

Hello everyone,

Verified by Visa and SecureCode by Mastercard are provided by some merchants to enhance the security of the player's credit card deposits. Both methods are known as 3D secure (for third domain verification, IE your bank gets involved in the transaction between you and the merchant).

You can register your card at your bank's website, or on the Visa/Mastercard sites, by entering information only you know, and then providing a special password. Next time you go to purchase at a merchant that subscribes to this service, they will redirect you to the bank's website to confirm the purchase.

This ensures that no one else can use your card online, and significantly reduces the chances that your card will be used without your permission.

It's in no way an attempt to block gambling related deposits, but rather to enhance your security online wherever you use your card.

For more information, check

Thanks Cocoa, I tried the visa link and it would not let me register the debit card. I put in my card number as requested, clicked next, put in the card number again as requested, and got the message that my card is invalid!

Has anyone successfully registered with this "security" thing?? If so, can someone walk me through the process completely as I cannot make it work. Thanks in advance all.

Are you even sure that your bank allows gaming transactions??

I use the Verified by Visa process when purchasing music downloads thru walmartcom. They started using it about a year ago and walked me thru the sign up. It did seem frustrating at first but works like a charm since. It ends up the same as any other purchase with the addition of a password required before transaction can be approved. I have not encountered it while gaming but I am with Bank of America and my cards stopped going thru for gaming a good while back. Good luck.

SOME CARDS CANNOT BE REGISTERED!

Certain types of cards, for instance, my AAA visa, cannot be be registered with Verify by Visa. That is why it says INVALID when you try to register it.

Microgaming software does not ask me for it with my AAA card, but my Visa Debit/check card was registered and I put in my password and went through just fine.

Good to know Ftdr., but how did you initially register the card. There is no prompt or click here button or anything, it just tells me to register my card with no instructions as to how to do it? Do I call somewhere and do it?

I know the card works otherwise as I have made several deposits using it up until this new message pops up. Looking for step by step instructions, anyone???

i did also the same as cynthial but along time ago before the anti gaming law went into affect. i also have a card with b.o .a and can not use that one but i can use the other bank card from amsouth bank . the casino i play at uses a third party proccesor and it goes thru every time for me.it appears on my bank statement with no mention of casino.it will soon be where we cant use any methods at all. this is a sad time when you cant spend your money anyway you want to be entertained. have you asked your casino host if they can manually run it for you ?

The alternative view is that the purpose to shift more of the liability to the customer. If, for example, you have keylogger on your computer and someone makes a transaction with VbV, you will have a harder job disputing it.

You can register your card at your bank's website, or on the Visa/Mastercard sites, by entering information only you know, and then providing a special password. Next time you go to purchase at a merchant that subscribes to this service, they will redirect you to the bank's website to confirm the purchase.
Visa will only register US issued cards. My bank does not have registration in its online banking interface, so I was forced to register via a merchant site. There are major problems with the security model of VbV. A rogue merchant could pretend to ask for VbV registration, capture your data, then register your card and make transactions on your behalf. The registration is made on a site that has no obvious connection with Visa, how are people supposed to know whether it is the right site?

This ensures that no one else can use your card online, and significantly reduces the chances that your card will be used without your permission.
It also increases the chances that if your card is used without permission, you will be stuck with the losses.
