Never done a £5 spin in my life, so this doesn't bother me at all.
Be a bit miffed if it applies to sportsbooks as well tho.

Yeah slots is one thing but if £5 max bet is going to apply to everything, Roulette, Blackjack, sports betting, live crazy time type games its game over....

The UKGC have totally lost the plot, If history has taught us anything its over regulation and prohibition don't work overall.

You have to wonder at what point they deem the UKGC ineffective and launch a newly-branded regulator in its stead. Just like our police force, it's going to have to be placed under Special Measures at this rate

It's a shame that crap governments are tied to these bodies to retain an overview, when a fully independent regulator would at least know about gambling. At this point I'd rather have the Cats Protection Society running things than the UKGC.

Fact is the UKGC care not one jot whether limits are at £2, £5 or £13.56, as long as their revenue and end result amounts to the same, through taxation or fines (to make up the shortfall). Anyone thinks their 'proposals' stand to benefit players' welfare need to wake up and smell the coffee 🍵

Of course it will include roulette and blackjack . They want to regulate it like the FOBT’s..

But apparently physical casinos will be allowed up to 80 slots , instead of 20 now , so they are fine with you going to a real casino .

At this point they may as well just ban online gambling in the UK.

It seems you cannot live your life as you want it these days…smoking- bad for you, drinking- bad for you, gambling- nope can’t do that, bad for you.

Adults should be able to take full control of their own vices without this dictation of what can and can’t be spent.

I’ve never gone above £5 stake, however, I’d like the option of going higher than that to still be there in the event I farm a decent bankroll.

It irks me that autonomy and choices are being taken away.

Of course they are happy as a real casino makes more money in Tax for the government than a foreign based online one.
Business Rates, Tax on Utility bill's, Tax on food & drink, tax on wages - casinos will need more staff so kick a few off the dole books Patrons will need to get to the venues which more than likely is car/taxi so that's fuel taxes.
Allow a large brand casino to open up north they'll even tick the Leveling up bollocks.
It's a win win for them.

I think part of the problem is that these governing bodies are run by people who aren’t “in touch”. If they had the input from actual gamblers, it would help enormously. They would have been able to see that the removal of auto spins will not make any difference whatsoever and in some aspects, can have an adverse effect.

On the other hand, I can see the need to reduce the max bet, I really can. I have known some big gamblers in my time but I have only met a handful who constantly played £5 spins and they weren’t around for long.

We all know how much you can lose playing 50p spins so when slots are available that allow £100 a spin then some absolutely serious money can be lost.

I know people wouldn’t like it but they could introduce a SOW type thing, whereby if you want to play higher than £5 spins, you have to prove you can legitimately afford it because let’s be honest, how many people can truly afford to do that?

Very, very few imo and most of the big gamblers, I have ever known, use illegitimate money to fund their habit or they have come into the money via inheritance and it didn’t last long. I have a friend who inherited £300,000 and lost every penny in 18 months. That was sports betting though but just shows what can happen. Absolutely destroyed him and he will never recover, mentally, all very sad.

40p spins can and wlll destroy an average working person's bankroll on a bad run.

I low-roll 40p-60p and often struggle to get 45 minutes of playtime for a £100 deposit - on max RTP. So have to budget carefully.

Can't imagine many people spinning over (or even close to) £5 really. Possibly another overexaggerated "problem" in need of a "solution" while the real issues affecting players are glossed over/overlooked.

Correct me if I am wrong but you can’t spin more than £5 on a slot in a UK, live Casino, afaik so they are only bringing it inline.
Casino's seem to be taking onto themselves to lower stakes on games

Mr Q's probably the most obvious: seems to be BTG: they've capped the bet amount of Beef Lightning at 70p (which is very low imo)

More laughably is bonanza capped at 4 quid - now, i may be wrong but i can see Big B bankrupting any casino

Certainly not as a matter of course: personally i will go 4/5 on very rare occasions but it's normally after, say, a 1000x (however rare they are) win and i try 25 4 quids etc before i withdraw and leg it.

Not sure what the stats are but number wise those rolling regularly on 5's and above i imagine will be low.

So what happens if someone builds up a balance from say £10 or £20, using 10/15/20p bets to grind, then sneak in a few 50p bets, and eventually accrue large bankrolls from which to go crazy?

If I'd got to eg £500 through graft and decided to splurge half of that on £5+ bets, am I an evil degenerate gambler lacking control, or simply playing around with what is essentially 'play money' until I decide to settle on a final withdrawable amount?

Not really sure where the UKGC get their cues from, I'd imagine it's akin to a room full of chimps with notepads flinging turds at each other until something sticks to the paper 🤔

Affordability shouldn't be attributed solely to someone's stakes, as online play varies, often throughout a single session. What's more evident is that they've observed 'non-online' betting and are trying to shoehorn that into a completely different environment....

Yep I’ve pointed this out before. It’s the sum of deposits that matter, not the size of the bets you do with that deposit. All it does is limit people’s ability to hit the real big money and potentially get ahead. Great.

The whole thing is completely brainless.

It just shows how long it is since you played slots. Bankrolls up to £500 from playing 10 and 20p. You can’t get a bankroll of £500 if you deposit £480 nowadays. Whole things a scam and biggest crooks, yep BTG aka the underhanded scamming:rolleyes: (now what’s the word I am looking for)? Answers on a postcard only.
