Overview

When Relax Gaming released the original Money Train slot, it became a near-instant hit. Hundreds of thousands of players worldwide were flocking to get in on the action. Since then, we have seen the maximum win of 20,000X get hit several times.

It may not have been the most creative slot, but that didn’t deter Relax Gaming from developing a sequel. Money Train 2 has cemented Relax Gaming’s legacy as one of the leading iGaming providers in today’s online gambling world.

Money Train 2 managed to retain many of the original game’s mechanics while incorporating several new bonuses and features. One new feature is a much more volatile free spins bonus (with the chance to win significantly more money). In this Money Train 2 review, we will show you what the slot’s all about, what you can expect, and our honest thoughts about the game. First, let’s look at how they built the game.

Like the original, Money Train 2 is built around a 5-reel, 4-row format, with 40 fixed paylines in play at all times. You’ll find yourself able to spin the reels from as little as $0.20 and as much as $20.

Let’s kick things off by looking at the game’s symbols, payouts, RTP -and volatility.

RTP and Volatility

Unlike the original Money Train slot, Relax Gaming appears to have placed more emphasis on the base game in Money Train 2. Thanks to the game’s higher-paying symbols, it’s possible to hit some pretty decent-sized wins.

Let’s look at the low-value symbols. Like the original, these are simply playing card suits: Hearts, Diamonds, Spades and Clubs.

You’ll see a few characters for the higher-paying symbols, including a male Green Sniper, a scary-looking Debt Collector, a Female character, and the Necromancer. These symbols are worth between 8X and 20X your stake for lining up a 5-of-a-kind combo.

Regarding the RTP and volatility, we should note that Money Train 2 is very volatile – both in the base game and the main free spins bonus. When putting this Money train two-slot review together, we put hundreds of spins through the machine and found that it’s pretty common to go 20, 30 or even more spins without a win.

The RTP, however, is a respectable 96.4%, with the potential to increase the return to player to as high as 98%! We’ll talk more about this further in the review.

Bonuses and Features

Like the original Money Train game, Money Train 2 is all about the bonus. However, there is a cool little base game feature that can produce some surpassingly decent wins. Below, we will look at the bonus spins round and the base game feature to give you a complete understanding of the Money Train 2 features and how the respin feature differs from the original.

Respins Feature

The Respins feature is one of the main new additions to the base game in Money Train 2. It’s triggered when you land two of the scatter symbols anywhere in view. In other words, it is triggered when you fail to trigger the main free spins bonus. When this happens, each of the two scatters on the screen reveals a multiplier, combined before a respin is awarded.

Each time a respin doesn’t result in a win, the multiplier increases by 1X and a further respin is awarded. This process continues until a win is formed – at which point the multiplier you’ve managed to reach is then applied to the win. While it’s pretty unusual to get the multiplier above 10X, this feature has great potential – especially as it’s not even a main bonus feature. There is no upper limit to how high the multiplier can reach, either. We’ve seen some lucky players reaching multipliers of around 40X!

Money Cart Bonus

If you’re looking to play Money Train 2, you’ll certainly be looking to trigger the main free spins bonus – regardless of whether you’re playing at the minimum or max bet. It’s where the majority of the game’s win potential is found; the Money Cart Bonus feature is really what the game is all about. It’s the same type of bonus game that made the original version so popular. However, it offers some “perks” that the original didn’t have.

To trigger the Money Cart Bonus in the Money Train 2 slot, you’ll need to land three or more of the bonus symbol icons.

You will then begin the bonus round, which sees you awarded with three respins. The bonus feature begins with the scatter symbols that triggered the feature locked in place. Each of these symbols will then reveal a multiplier value.

The respins then begin. Each time you land an additional scatter symbol during the respin feature, the remaining respins resets to 3. The feature ends when you either fill the screen (which awards a 500X your stake payout) or fail to land any additional symbols for three respins in a row.

Now, many of the symbols that land have special “powers,” all of which we’ll look at below:

  • Bonus Scatter Symbol: This awards a cash value between 1X and 10X.
  • Golden Bonus Scatter Symbol: This reveals a cash value between 20X and 200X.
  • Payer: The Payer adds its value to all the other scatter symbols on the reels.
  • Collector: The Collector collects all of the other values in view and adds them to its total.
  • Collector/Payer: This adds the total number of all other values to its total; it then adds this new value to all the other symbols in view.
  • Sniper: The Sniper doubles the value of between 3 and 8 random win multipliers; it can also hit the same symbol more than once.
  • Necromancer: The Necromancer brings between one and six symbols “back to life” – including the premiums, like the Sniper and Collector.
  • Reset Plus: The Reset Plus resets the number of respins you have and adds +1.
  • Persistent Payer: The Persistent Payer adds its current value to all other symbols on each subsequent spin.
  • Persistent Sniper: This symbol doubles the value of between 3 and 8 bonus symbols on every respin for the rest of the bonus.
  • Persistent Collector: This collects all other values across the board – i.e. the total of all bonus symbols – and adds them to the total count.

Once the feature is complete, the total win multiplier will be added and paid out as a cash win. Because of this, the higher the amounts on the bonus symbols, the better. If you get enough bonus symbols, you can walk away with some monster wins, even if you’re not playing anywhere near the max bet!

Bonus Buy

For those players located outside of the UK – and those playing without a deposit bonus – you’ll find that you can purchase direct entry to the main bonus spins feature – the Money Cart Bonus. This costs 100X your stake, and the bonus is guaranteed to trigger on the next spin.

While it’s an attractive option to use the “Bonus Buy” option – it actually increases the RTP of the slot to 98%. We do urge you to always gamble responsibly. New customers who claim a welcome bonus at an online casino should be careful. Virtually all welcome bonus offers do not allow you to use bonus buys, as it would exceed the max bet rules for the bonus.

Still, it’s a nice way of triggering the bonus game instantly and perfect for those who don’t want to wait for hours to hit that golden bonus!

Our verdict

Relax Gaming’s original Money Train slot proved to be a major success; it allowed players the chance to win up to 20,000X their stake. The exciting Money Cart Bonus round took a classic “re-spins mechanic” and added a nice twist.

We were even more impressed when we saw that the game developer did with Money Train 2; some would say it’s like a sequel on steroids – everything from how the game looks to how the bonus round works. And, of course, the amount you can win – has been designed with players in mind.

We like that the base game offers a mini-feature simply by landing two of the bonus symbols. Not only is there decent win potential within the base game, but it also means that the game is more enjoyable to play!

We also like that the bonus round has several cool new additions. The Persistent symbols – including the Sniper, the Collector and the Payer – can award whopping wins during the respin feature. If you land a couple of these persistent symbols, you’re likely to walk away with a mega win.

On the whole, Money Train 2 is an excellent slot from Relax Gaming. With the big win potential, the frequent bonus symbol feature in the base game, and an increasingly volatile bonus, it’s no surprise to see so many players stating this is their “favourite game” right now!

Yes! If you’d like to purchase direct entry to the free spins bonus – also known as the Money Cart Bonus – you’ll be pleased to know that you can instantly trigger the bonus for a cost of 100X your stake. However, please note that this option is not available to players within the UK due to new regulations brought in by the UK’s Gambling Commission.

One of the main reasons why Money Train 2 became so popular is the massive amount of money it’s possible to win while playing – up to 50,000X your stake.

You may think this sounds unachievable – that it would be a once-in-a-lifetime hit – but already, we’ve seen many players hitting this maximum win. It all comes from the bonus spins round, where most of the game’s RTP is found.

Unlike the original Money Train slot, Relax Gaming has built in a “Bonus Buy” mechanic into Money Train 2. Not only does this allow for significantly more win potential, but it also changes things when it comes to the RTP.

For example, the RTP of Money Train 2 without using the bonus buy option is a fairly decent 96.4%. However, when using the “Bonus Buy” feature, the RTP increases to 98% – so it’s a pretty significant change!
