New UKGC Rules Push Hard Against Bonus Abuse and Cross-Selling

UK players, rise and rejoice, because your regulator is standing up for you so high that they might just break the ceiling.
As of December 19, 2025, casinos won’t be able to force you to play a little bit of everything just to grab a bonus anymore. You may not have set your virtual foot there ever, but there actually are some online casinos that require you to bet on sports and play slot machines to unlock a bonus.
Predatory behavior much? The UKGC says ‘yes,’ since this way, you could be pulled into slots even though you’re a ride-or-die sports betting fan. One scenario — you end up playing a bunch of high-volatility slots day and night just to grab that bonus.
But the UKGC doesn’t stop at cross-selling. They’ve cracked their whip at wagering requirements, too. Now they’ll be capped at x10, making the promotions really work in players’ favor and not completely against them.
It’s a pity we’re still months away from December, so we’re yet to see the good that comes out of new rules. Until then, see this as a warning against super high wagering requirements and mixed product promo deals and try not to fall for them.
