yet another casino leaving uk market: Winning Room

May effect Redbet but Mr green as its own separate licence and trading name. Guess it depend if its a head company sweep or just the lower companies

What are some key differences between the Swedish & UK market that makes them leave the UK?
Bit too lazy to read up on it.

Just checked and we have 99 brands with a license now, last time i checked it was 96, so it seems to be going up rather than down.
Have not checked for a couple of months.
No idea how many sites there are in total, but some of the brands have like 10+ sites under their license.

Main reason has to be the over regulation in the UK,the average spend must be way down due to lower
deposit limits imposed due to RG policies and players trying to avoid SOW requests .
I would think a fair amount of players have packed up altogther as they are unwilling to submit personal infomation to casinos.
In addition there will be the extra cost of employing compliance teams.
Final straw for some may well have been stopping reversals, good for the player but a fair chunk out the
profits for casinos who imposed long reversal times
Bearing in mind that there are possibly a lot more regulations on the horizon including £2 stake ( that will
be the real killer) , the last place I would want to operate a casino is in the UK.

i find that hard to beleive, anyways it is what it is LIVE ROULETTE aka MR SMITH also from today leaving uk market
Why do you find it hard to believe?
Over the past few years there have been massive increases in costs. There have been massive changes to the LCCP in regards to compliance, RG, advertising etc, all of which costs money.
On top of that game features being banned, quickspin, bonus buys, multiple game windows open etc.
VIP schemes all but banned.
No credit cards allowed to be used.
The list goes on. Then you have SoW procedures that many casinos don't understand and end up alienating half the customer base.
Most the casinos that have pulled out the UK have a small/very small market share.
Betsson stated only 3% of their revenue comes from the UK.

Why do you think they don't have problems making money?

Absolutely Colin. The market was seriously saturated as well here but the mass exodus is down to new rules and restrictions. The problem is that the market was barely regulated for years and has created a very big problem in the UK. Now they are fixing things that they should have done years ago but also going further than that.

Oh yeah, i forgot about the removal of reversals.
Also the Sow requests seems alot more frequent and includes more documents/work for uk customers from what ive seen.

Sweden is much "easier" market to run, you can use PaynPlay to make pretty accurate KYC in every login and if you decide not to accept any other deposit methods than Trustly, it don't take much resources to monitor player transactions if they always are from verified bank account and back.

In UK there's much more fraud and abuse than in Sweden, bankid logins help for that already (in UK opposite i can open account and deposit if i just know somebody name and address and i'm passed for age verification until any further docs are requested and these are also easy to get from people who let you use their identities agains small fee), impersonating risk is much smaller, many don't wanna give their bank id:s to other people use for few quids.

These already mentioned regulation updated to LCCP, RG/AML policies etc... makes it that some operators start to have UK compliance as biggest team in company spending their time to check bank statements and requesting one more and again one more document to your SOW which like we can see in here, not in many cases make players particularly happy and deposit more but opposite.

No bonuses in Sweden, it's easy to tell players that we can't provide bonuses as it's against regulations and most of players know and start to argue that point, you have good amount less support contacts when bonus request are near 0. Then you don't have bonus costs or abuse either.

In the UK a lot of the SOW is complete overkill. Some operators clearly are more risk averse than others. Casumo for example. I have no idea what they are doing other than covering themselves a loy more than they have to. Others have brought in loss limits. Honestly wouldn't be surprised if it gets banned online in the UK eventually.

That won't happen, it would cost the country too much money.
It will keep getting to be a much smaller market though, and we will be left with the big bookies, and a few of the better casinos.

Yep, the market was massively inflated and some downright crooks were allowed licences at a point in time. At least we are seeing a cleaner industry now.

Got email now from CasinoEuro saying they are going. Probably the best casino I have played on so its disappointing.
