Hi,

A few months ago, I inquired on this forum about game development, seeking information for a book I'm working on. I have another question if that's alright.

Every so often, I encounter casinos that take an inordinately long time to complete the KYC (Know Your Customer) process. They'll state it takes 3 days, but after that period, they request additional documents, and this can go on for some time. Is there a legitimate reason for this prolonged process, or is it merely a strategy to tempt gambling addicts to squander potential winnings?

Similarly, when it comes to cash-outs, while some casinos transfer the funds the same day, others claim they require 3 days to process the transaction. Is this a genuine requirement, or is it just another tactic to encourage problem gamblers to spend their winnings?

In my experience, there are too many unknowns to give a "standard" answer here.

Much of it will depend on things like...

• Player name (Are there a lot of people with the same name on the 'global check' software being used & therefore many 'false negatives' being returned?).
• Player location (Is this a white / grey / black jurisdiction?).
• Player history (Any records of player playing at other sites within same group / has the player requested account blocked anywhere previously / is the player listed on 3rd party software as a risk / credit rating / etc).
• Authenticity of documentation provided (Are these easily verifiable as original documents / are they in date / etc).
• Complexity of the checks required based upon the Regulatory regime they are licensed under.
• Have initial checks brought-up any reason to do a 'deeper dive' on the player?
• Internal authentication based upon their own risk profiles.
• Interpretations of regulations (e.g. Regulations could state something like 'reasonable time', but everyone's view of what is reasonable could be different).

The above list isn't exhaustive, just ones that initially come to mind, but hope this helps.

To answer the second part first... Assuming players are playing at licensed casinos & no-counterfeit games, then they'll be able to retrieve the data from their game history. Every player will be able to verify every wager & win (even if they have to resort to logging a call with the casino helpdesk). On the basis they're playing at a reputable site, then every game, wager and win can absolutely be 100% verified.

Back to the first part & this though is another question where the answer is 'it depends'... Different sites will have a different risk appetite, so will vary the max bet settings accordingly. This can also vary between where the player is from & therefore which site and regulatory controls (and therefore operational costs) that could be imposed upon them. (E.g. A .com site may have a max bet of £100, but a .co.uk site may have this reduced to £10. (The same could also be said for the RTP settings on the same game in different jurisdictions & again, be blamed on the costs of doing business in that country (be it high fraud, stricter regulations, lack of competition, etc))).

In a nutshell, there is no 'one size fits all' - be it operator presence, bonus requirements, deposit/withdrawal or min/max bet limits, game availability, RTP settings, etc

Thanks! This massice bet/win happened 8 years ago and there were some problems with his registration so it won't be possible to get the game history. The casino was well known place with MGA licence and I believe right now they had approx 100 euros as a max bet.
