Nope. Sorry.

Players should be able to pick whatever slot they like at whatever stake they like.
And they should ESPECIALLY NOT BE FORCED into a position where (if they want to have a fair chance of winning one of the TOP prize(s)) they feel they have to play for 8 hours PER DAY EVERY DAY FOR A FULL MONTH.

That is actually encouraging reckless and irresponsible gambling. That is not what this forum should be about.

Giving ANY member(s) a say in what game(s) everyone else has to play in future comps means they can effectively set/make up the rules with the sole intention of suiting themselves and ONLY themselves.
And to hell with the majority. Yeah that's a swell idea

Only one person should get to decide. And that someone is Dave. @Webzcas
As a non-entrant of the comps, he can be trusted to be impartial.

It has taken less than a week (it was actually three days) into a FIVE AND A HALF WEEKS LONG comp to see the massive flaws in this comp. The winner has already been decided. Second place is already as good as known too. And third place for that matter.

So basically, pretty much the entire field (bar three members, whose net contribution to the forum OUTSIDE of these comps is minimal at best) is having to settle for minor prizes already.

In short, Mr. Shine in post #350 completely nailed it.

Comps should be set up in a way that is appealing to the many, not the comp abusing few.

It took me less than a second.
I had my reservations before the start too. @Wait!What?'s post (#51) kind of saw this coming.
And I agreed with him.

But I tried to give the comp a chance, because I didn't want to be seen as being negative.
But having experienced for myself just how much hard work has to go into it, well....I essentially quit.
The juice simply ain't worth the squeeze.

I have to be honest with myself here, I was guilty of underestimating the sheer difficulty involved in trying to do well in this comp.
Even now, with nearly 15 years of online slotting experience under my belt, I am still learning.

But in a strange way, this latest "lesson" may the best thing for me though.
The sheer drudgery of the past few days has made me suddenly dislike playing slots to such an extent that I have no problem walking away from slotting for the rest of the month, while I am still in profit for the month.

I didn't play at all yesterday and it felt great.
Thankfully, I have a craptonne of football to watch to easily help me fill any slotting voids.

I do think the first question for all future comps should be "can a moderate player win this?" and if the answer is "absolutely not" the idea should be rejected. The best solution I think is have a maximum number of entries, (whatever the comp actually is) and once the comp ends everybody who got the max is on level terms. Another way, not quite as good is allow as many entries as the player likes but each gives one chance in a raffle at the end, so even 1 entry can win it. Comps where the whales who autobet all day every day are guaranteed to win will not appeal to the average user.

An overall entry limit for the entire duration that doesn't 'force' daily play to stand a chance of winning would absolutely be my pick.

Like this tournament is 38 days long which at 3 entries a day allows for over 114 entries over the competition. That is a shitload of spinning to achieve.

Capping it to 40 entries overall and keeping the 3 a day limit for example would have meant people didn't have to play daily. It also means someone could come along 3 weeks into the competition and still have enough time to put in 40 entries and therefore consider it worthwhile. As I've said before with the current setup no one will be entering that hasn't already 3 weeks in because they won't stand a chance of getting into the top 10.

Maybe offering a high prize for 1st for this kind of competition is a bad idea? If it had been 20 prizes of 100 each for the top 20 and it makes no difference if you finish 1st or 20th suddenly it becomes much less important to score high points and it also gives more people a shot of getting something, maybe encouraging them to enter too.

Anyway it's all a learning experience and allows for changes for the better in future events. I still like the concept and tie in with the WC, it's just unfortunate it wasn't tweeked a little to make it less daunting for casual spinners.

Yes and I wanted to do something to tie in with the world cup that is also fun.

Key takeaways for me are the prize structure and to make comps more accessible for all.

Tbf it's not as bad as everyone is making out as a comp.

The spread of wins outside the top 2 is how you would imagine it for the first week.

Maybe the only mistake was to not restrict wonder goals to one a week or maxed out the x range at 500x. So 0-99x, 100-299x, 300-500x? Anything above not eligible.

It's a free comp at the end of the day. Also it must be popular because it's killed the June winners thread!

FML why did I min bet rather than just my regular £1 bets YUCK

Well I was only down 40x when it hit and I'd usually go in for a £100 deposit so it would have but yeah, I'd have been afraid to bet that high on Hacksaw. Way too volatile and without being able to use extra chance easily go hundreds of spins dead.

If you're trying your luck with Hacksaw tonight, Miami Mayhem seems to be playing well at the moment. Not that what happens on my screen nescessarily reflects what would happen on yours, but it sometimes feels like when a slot is on, it's on, so might be worth checking out for a bit. It FS's quite easily and I've had two 3-crew screens just a few spins apart which is very unusual.
