I played a few more goes and then left it, but because the progressives are made up entirely of contributions by countless players, would the game see fit to start playing badly to 'take it back off me again' or would it not matter in the slightest?

Those jackpots (and other gameplay) should be completely random, so it shouldn't make a difference.

I heard from a guy who won a $10K jackpot and 2 hours later the big one worth $2 million. I can happen anytime, anywhere, with anyone (except me ).

Is my face red....first off I got all pissy and was going to close my account at Royal Vegas. I also said it's not possible to win on small deposits. Actually it was funny because I logged in and it said, "Deposit now and get 10 free spins on T2 and 100% match" and I deposited and that promo disappeared, I got on chat and they said, "oops, that promo shouldn't have appeared, it's for new players only." So I started with no bonus. And it worked out.
