William Hill plc has been rocked by a mass walkout by nearly 200 staff at their support centre in Tel Aviv, Israel.

And the company’s chief marketing officer in Israel, Eyal Sanoff, has reportedly also quit his post, following the disruption, why he has left is still un-clear.

It is reported that William Hill executives flew out “to try and sort out the strike” over the weekend amid fears that Hill’s internet business would suffer.

William Hill’s Tel Aviv office handles almost all the marketing & customer support functions for the bookmakers’ online business.

Israeli staff members are saying that they believe William Hill is about to move the Israeli functions to the UK or Gibraltar and all will lose their jobs.

One staff member is quoted as saying “Everyone’s worried. The last two years have been really good. We all bought into the company’s thinking, but the situation has deteriorated & people are really worried about their jobs.

“All 180 staff walked out on Sunday, which is a working day in Israel, & only 20 came back monday.”

Jim Mullen, one of the Will Hill execs who flew in to address the crisis, allegedly offered staff members a month’s pay if they would break the unofficial strike & report for work.

William Hill’s online business is a major part of their business plans, & is estimated to generate profits of more than 100 million GBP for the company this year alone.

I smiled when I saw this when you think back to the reputation WH had for support prior to the Playtech deal. Any player who hadn't logged in since then and decided to log in yesterday wouldn't have noticed a difference LOL.

I remember when we were at ICE one year (2008?) and someone came into the pub that evening from some awards ceremony to say Will Hill had won Best Customer Support award and we all just p*ssed ourselves. :D

.

Two statements from William Hill and Playtech. Released a couple of days ago.

William Hill Online remains important to Playtech and its stakeholders and the Company will continue to give William Hill all necessary support to ensure the business continues to go from strength to strength.

Mor Weizer, Chief Executive of Playtech, commented: "Having been asked by William Hill's Chief Executive, Ralph Topping, to assist, I am very pleased that this issue is now behind William Hill Online. It is very positive for both shareholders that the business can now continue to move forward."

Generally speaking, this report does say nothing about HOW the case was resolved...

Mmmmmm William Hill treat their staff like animals IMO - I was in London a month ago,and often chat to the staff in the betting shops - they get paid poorly, work long hours, and are clearly not happy!! William Hill senior management clearly to blaim. Do they even have a rep here?
