Either I am the most unlucky person ever to walk the face of the earth, or I have no idea what I am doing? (probably both)

How do you all win?

I mean what games do you play to win?

I play slots, and have only won a few times last year, after putting in WAY more then I took out.

Is there a secret I'm missing out on?

I deposit $50 when I play...and it seems only to last about an hour, even when I am playing small bets. That seems like a very quick loss of $50 doesn't it?

I wish I could make $50 last an hour on a regular basis!!! I mean, I do sometimes, but it's rare.

Slots are a nightmare... They really are. You either seem to can't put a spin wrong, or your balance gets sucked into oblivion. Following the dreadful run I've had over the last couple of days, I'm gonna change my name to "pokerster" or "blackjackster" or something. Anything but damn slots!!! :D

Hello!
You are not the only one.:eek2:
I think there is not a secret to win. Just being in the right place at the right moment and trying to control your instinct to continue wagering when you know you can't afford or when you see it's not your day.
It doesn't take a whole day to see if it's a lucky day, at least for me...I just notice from the first 10 spins if the slot is gonna give me something or swallowing it all. But I lost many times because I continued playing.
So my secret now is just trying to deposit not very often like I used to.
I think all this must be fun, not a torture to get money you lost back.

I have tried poker and black jack a few times, those games just don't seem as fun to me.

I did try that 100 hand poker last night, it was ok.

Usually I start off with nothing higher then a 45 cent bet, then if I hit a little I increase my bet, and if I don't hit I decrease my bet (some slots you can play for 9 cents :p ) but then the little bets don't pay anything, and the big bets take all your money :what:

When I read this board it seems all of you are winning but me :(

I thought maybe I was betting wrong, or doing something wrong, or playing the wrong games. You would think I would hit something right?

If I play the slots

If I play Slots I use $25.00 to $30.00 and if that stupid slot Don't pay me anything I move to some other slot and do the same.
When they are cold they are cold.
Timing is everything

This is absolutely not true! It's just the wins get posted, because they're the most interesting/fun! Crikey - if we had a 'losers screenshots' thread, the board would go into meltdown!!!!

I think I'm generally regarded as one of those that posts some of the 'nicer' hits on the winner screenshots thread. I'm down overall at almost every casino I play at. It's just that, due to the bet sizes, some months I'm way up and - horribly - other months I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down.

Stick with your bets until you hit something really nice. 90p on Ladies Nite returns 150 for the semi regular five ladies and a wild! Four wilds even more!!! When you hit that nice one, knock it up to 2.25 and you never know!

Just remember - there's no secret. Noone here is winning more than anyone else - maybe just playing more!

Good luck!

Try to look at your gambling as entertainment. If you are going into it expecting to win, you will be disappointed and will risk continually chasing your losses with $ you shouldn't use. Every casino game has negative expected value in the long run . . . which means on average you will lose money. You may drop hundreds or thousands in the slots before hitting a big pay day that puts you back close to even. Poker is an exception in that if you are better than the other players the game has positive expected value in the long run.

A few years ago you could just kick the machines in special places and money would fall out, if u were lucky you could just pull the coins out.... The gaffa locked us in, that wasn't funny... He didn't like the free bonus he was offering!!! Oh wait, that was wen the old lady was in teh cash box.... Free teas aswell... You couldn't lose!! Sorry, I cant help with the new fangled things I just click the mouse and wins drop in, its easy  If only!!!

Have you tried any other games, like video poker? The returns are marginally better than slots with a basic stratergy and I dont think the variance is as wild.

Also what do you consider a win, playing low stakes slots won't get you that big hit very often. So even when your up a few coins it wont seem like enuff to quit. Upping the stakes every now and again sometimes helps.... I did this on thunderstruck after going 250 spins without a bonus 2 spins later I hit 5 ice hammers in a bonus round with a thor for a doubled triple win 4500 coins

Winning is all in the concept of the mind in my opinion. If I play for a few hours on my initial deposit (anywhere between $70-$100) then I am a winner...all the other "hits" are a bonus to me, and I make a withdrawal for my next bout of entertainment at another casino and continue to play out my initial deposit.

This way I don't get to upset when its all gone for I expected entertainment and got it and it was MY kind of entertainment that I have enjoyed and PAID for.

The only other way to actually "win" at gambling is to NOT START. Because gambling in itself is not for supplementing the income, its really for entertainment purposes and should be viewed as that or else you will go broke. Just My opinion.

Most of the 5 reel slots (with a few exceptions like 5 Reel Drive) are "high variance" too meaning you go longer waiting for a decent win but every now and again you hit it. Needs a bigger bank roll.

One of the key reasons ppl never win is not knowing when to stop. Chasing losses and not setting cashout targets (and sticking to them!) are two things that don't help.

that is fantastic advice. if people "knew" how to win there would be no need for anyone to work and there wouldnt be any casinos left to play at.

Some of us are winning! ;)

I am in the (extremely slow) process of creating a website to tell everyone how I do it. Hope to get it up & running by the end of March....
Don't deposit until then! :D

I guess I was wondering which is better to play....slots/VP/BJ/etc...also is it better to bet a bit bigger or stay small?

Last year when I did hit a few times I was depositing around $200-300 at a time, so I could bet bigger and not worry that my deposit was going to be gone within minutes.

How often do you all gamble online? And how much is your normal deposit?

I agree with alot of what has been said here. I never play to win, but to have fun...strictly as entertainment. IF I do manage to win and cashout, that's just a bonus. All I ever look for with any deposit is some "play" time. I want some bang for my buck. And don't feel bad about losing $50 in an hour, I've seen me lose $50 in 10 or 15 minutes...and that's when I get sort of peeved. Like I said, I don't have to win, but please let me play for a bit.

I play once, maybe twice a week depending on funds available. Most of my deposits are $25-$30, although I will deposit $50-$75 on occasion. But I also may deposit $25 three or four times in a row at a certain casino, it all depends if I think a certain slot is getting ready to hit a bonus round or something..then I will just go right to the bank without leaving the game.

As an afterthought, how long have you been gambling online? I'm only asking because I'm pretty sure I played online for 1 1/2 to 2 years before cashing out for the first time. I also notice that cashouts come in streaks...if I cashout once, chances are I may have one or two more coming within a week or two. I was playing at 32Red on Sunday night, and could have cashed out, but of course I didn't. :)

Depositing/betting bigger isn't always better.. especially if you like to gamble online frequently (can become costly 'at the end of the day'). This really applies to gambling period, in a casino, at the track, etc. I once walked into a casino, was there less than 15 minutes, first machine I went to, put a $20 bill in, and had $10 left in credits when I hit for $750. And that was 5-line quarters (Triple Diamonds). :D

I really think the same applies overall to online gambling. I usually deposit between $50-$100 at a time, and I usually play at least twice every other week. Once in awhile I may spend more, but not usually. I think the only time "increasing" anything wouuld be important is playing video slots- usually the more credits per line the better your bonus round payouts. I stick to slots and video poker, and I'll really start playing video poker when my money is down, and it can build up your 'spending base' so you can go back to slots. I once brought $3 back up to $171, it took time, but I guess I try to "stretch out" what I can, and play according to what you have (you don't want to spend your last $10 on $1 single line slots with 3-credit play required to get a bonus or spin a wheel (unless you are that adventurous, or plan on depositing more in a couple of minutes). But you really have to find your 'niche' and stick to what you enjoy... there is no rhyme or reason, no method to the madness.. just have fun, and usually when you least expect it or are not as 'determined' .. is when it will happen.

Pinababy...I first started gambling online last november, and I cashed out for the first time very quickly, I believe with my second or third deposit, not using a bonus. Your right about the streek, because a few weeks later I cashed out again.

Then I stopped playing for a while after I got into a rut, and recently just started again.

Then I stopped playing for a while after I got into a rut, and recently just started again.

And that's the best advice that you can give yourself. Don't chase it..if it isn't happening, it isn't happening. Just as winning and cashing out comes in streaks....so does losing, and they seem to last a whole lot longer. :D

If you're playing with a small bankroll, I'd suggest video poker.

A month ago I started playing Jacks or Better and Bonus Deuces Wild on iNetBet using their "$10 bonus with no deposit required" offer. I've been playing at least 6 hours a week and I'm still on the initial $10. I only play one nickel at a time, with that small a bankroll max bets would eat it up very quickly. (Especially playing a "volatile" game such as BDW.)

(I'm now about $.50 ahead after being down almost $5--I'm sure they're quaking in their boots about that sort of potential payout! :) It won't last anyway, though chances are better now that I'll meet the rollover requirements with a little left.)

If you're looking specifically for low-skill games, another low-cost, low-pay option is Baccarat: always bet on the banker. That's about as unskilled as it gets, and the house edge is low (I believe it's around 1.5% at most casinos). If there's a $1 minimum bet you'll still need a larger bankroll, but the risk of losing it all in a short period of time is lower than with slots.

Ultimately it comes down to personal preference. I stick to games with higher skill levels, a low house edge, and small bankroll swings, games such as Pontoon/BJ and video poker. But many people find this boring and I can understand why, because there's no way I'll ever get rich betting nickels. But I won't go broke either, and given the bonuses I'm more likely to make a little money over the long term.
