Why Play Slots?

Hi, I've been playing slots for the past year or so. I've had no cash outs at all. Roughly £1000 down the drain. My questions are 1. Is this what the average slot player should expect? 2. Why not just play a "fun" version where no/little money is lost?

I started off taking advantage of free spins and didn't really win anything. Then early on hit a small bonus(didn't even give me back my deposit). From there it's been a long cycle of many very small(0.20/0.40) bets with the occasional big bet(£2/5). Once hit a feature on a £5 spin and would you believe it, the game gave me the lowest return I've ever experienced.

Also, additionally, is it normal for slot players to return to the same slot? I find myself really only interested in one main slot game.

After losing £1000(which is a fair bit of money to me) is it just a really bad luck streak or is this the "fun" of playing slots? I'm thinking about spending my money on other things, like roulette. I've never had the same feelings of a game trying to steal my money as when I've played slots. It seems google will happily spam you with amazing wins and youtube videos of big bonuses yet it's suspiciously difficult to find videos of people having losing sessions "slotting". Or at least sessions which mirror mine, being a tpyical £100 turning to £110 before dwindling away never to be seen again.

I wish I could say I was greedy and wanted to cashout more, but I'd have been happy just cashing out £150 on a £100 deposit. Never happened.

I think most of us stick to a fairly small selection of our favourite slots - I know I do.
Which game(s) have you been playing mostly?

Not being able to get to £150 from a £100 deposit is quite bad, but you would have to have some pretty good wins if you're only betting 20p or 40p per spin. 100xbet would only be £20 or £40...

In the first few months of this year I got my deposit up to over 3x the amount several times, but didn't stop... that can only end one way :(
Since then I have been more disciplined and had a few good cash-outs.
But at the end of the day, whichever casino game you play there is a house edge which ensures the casino always wins in the long run - so you should treat it as entertainment (though I know it's not very entertaining when it feels like you can't BUY a win!).

I play mostly very low variance games at medium stakes (£2-£5) - the good thing about that is even a x50 win is pretty substantial.
Personally I don't chase the x1000+ wins as they are just too rare.

I would say that is very rare
I cashout at least once a week on average
to go an entire year with many deposits and no cashouts at all seems very unlucky.
so either you are due a win ....or you are just unlucky and should stay away from gambling
:(

Over 70,000 spins on Age of Gods with Netent on Betfair. I've tried it at other casinos and pretty much the same result. On top of a little over £1000 I also deposited at Unibet and played lots of different games. Exactly the same thing happens. Deposit £300(No bonus attached) and I'll hit a win that takes me to something like 320/330, then it's slowly downhill. When I've lost about 50 I get another "big" win that gives me back about 30/40.

I keep seeing people winning so much and just decided I had a figure in my head of how much I was willing to put in. I've gone slightly above that figure and just wondered if this is normal or should I have at least won some of my money back at some point...I think if I bet it would be dry in the Sahara it would flood tomorrow.

Hmmm it never was so bad for me.had a bad run from october last year to march i think.but since that slots are playing like when i started 3 years ago.
I know slots are random and all that....
but if i want to play with 300 an evening ( for me its never more then 100 and only at the weekend when my girlfriend aint at home, normaly less then that) i would allways split this deposits on 3 or 4 casinos.maybe its just bullshit, but i think chances to win on one of them are higher....i expect trancemonkey will tell me soon that it doesnt matter if i deposit 300 at one casino and play or deposit at different casinos...
And propably he is right.but i will keep doing it like this

pretty sure age of gods is playtech
and there is your problem
playtech are a poor provider
try microgaming or early WMS and netent

I have had my majority of wins on these 3 providers

also stay away from betfair
their casino and slots suck balls

Definitely netent when it's on Betfair. I've tried Betfred, Unibet, Bet365, William Hill, Paddy Power, and ComeOn. As a matched bettor I also do a lot of free spin offers. In total losses come to about £1400 I'd estimate. Not the end of the world or anything but would have been nice to at least have a win which covered some of it.

Two days ago I had another £50 on Betfair, went up to £58 early on then right down to £5 before ending back at £50. Going to leave it there as all I seem to do is confirm that only a very few number of people will ever win on slots, and even fewer will have any kind of profit.

Definitely netent when it's on Betfair.

If it is the same game i am thinking of then it is def playtech

it is the Casino section of Betfair right?
there are a number of them. age of gods slots

If you play at Betfair play in the Vegas slots section
and stick to the older Williams games, they have a decent selection.
I have got Mega big wins 500X or more on almost all of them.

Yeah, I just checked and it's Playtech! That's strange, at some point it must have changed? I definitely remember a lot of loading screens with the netent logo coming up when clicking to play that game. Maybe it's driven me crazy. I don't remember ever seeing a playtech logo. I would have bet my right nut sack it was netent. I even signed up to the netent forums a while ago because of it. Weird.

Low (affordable) stakes
Decent providers (Netent, Microgaming, WMS, Novomatic)
Stick to the same 9-10 games max (for now)
Stick to the same 2-3 casinos (see accredited list here)
Don't chase (IE: don't play every day, don't redeposit directly after losing/busting out)

Trust me, it will come ;)

Yeah, I might give it another £100 at some point in the future to round it up to £1500. But I need to get my bankroll up a bit first before I even think of trying that again.

Yeah, Playtech used to have a loading screen very similar to Netent. The progress bar slowly loading with a logo.
I used to play in the Betfair casino section when I first started playing slots and like you I had very little luck.
Once I discovered the "Vegas Slots" section my win rate improved considerably, this was a few years ago and there were only Willaims (WMS) games in the Vegas section.

Long term you will ALWAYS lose with slots, but you should have at least got some return for your money by this stage.

Downside is if you do get a massive win then the true addiction can start. You seem a sensible guy and as long as you play for fun, with money you can afford to lose then enjoy.
