Why are the tourneys at RB and RV linked?

Hello ....Thank you for taking the time to answer my question...

I noticed that the new tournaments at Riverbelle and Royal Vegas are linked.
If you join a particular tourney at one casino, the other casino will inform you that you are all ready registered.

I have no complaint with this by the way. I just thought that Riverbelle and Royal Vegas are owned by two different companies.

Thank you again for your time.

hi Martha, I will reply to you here too.

If I understand this correctly, So this means bigger pools of players but NO INCREASE in prizes. Oh, this could really piss off alot of people. I already don't like the idea. I mean if you are paying to enter a tourney and all of sudden you now have people with River belle accounts that don't have Royal vegas accounts , the pool of players increases, the rebuy fees add up, yet the payouts remains the same? Yeah, who's going to make a killing off this . They should have each casino keep seperate tourneys!!!!!!!! Maybe start the tourneys at the same time, but keep the money pools seperate !!!!
Am I correct in my logic?

The tourney info shows the combined total number of people already entered. It also gives a minimum and max number that can enter. When you enter just know you maybe going up againist the max number of entries. Doesn't mater if 2 are playing from royal and 98 are playing from another casino or even 6 different places. Entry fee including number of rebuys + number of entrants + prize payout structure then just decide if it's worth joining. I personally don't care for rebuy tournements. It gets more complicated. Then it's a mater of figuring if it is worth investing more money based on how well your doing. I'm assuming that not all the tournements pools are made up of entries from two different casino groups. Like the The Great Escape promo Fortune Lounge is running I would think is just Royal Vegas. Which I have to say :D :D :D :D I am one of the sixty finalist. I have to keep checking the winners wall to make sure my name is still there casue I can hardly believe it.

BTW Seems like it's taking forever for tourney scedule to show up at Royal Veags anyway. Is just me ?

You both raise even more questions.

Thank you cmr29sun and Belgamo for answering my post.

Why are two casino's ...persumably owned by different companies 'in cahoots' as my father would say??? For those of you that don't recognize the term...(Questionable collaboration; secret partnership......).

They are now in some way linked together; sharing information with each other in real time. Information about us. Has anyone ever heard of Casino's from different owners joining up like this. I know casino's have always exchange information on players that may be defrauding casino's.

When I signed up with Riverbelle for the tournaments there....I received an email from "activation@microgaming.com" to me
that used terms like:

Click the Verify Alias link to verify your Alias using our secure server. (I wasn't ask what alias I wanted...I was given the one I was using at Royal Vegas)
2.gif

If you can't read it above:

Welcome to the Multi-Player Network

Your Alias is used to identify you when playing in a Microgaming Casino.

You need to verify your Alias if you play at a new Microgaming Casino.

I think this is telling us Microgaming is forming a new Group ...????

Am I off base here?

It's not a secret partnership. They joined a network headed by microgaming. One of the benefits of them joining my guess is being able to offer tournaments with big prizes in hopes of attracting more players. Maybe getting the capability to run tournaments microgaming required them to join the network. It all equals cash in the end. Fortune is running a big tournament promo which I assume is them alone. If you can run a big tourney without needing to pool players and share cost then why join at all I wonder. As for the information I am definitely no software expert casino or otherwise but they are sharing with microgaming not necessarily with the other casinos that form the network. At least I think.. maybe... Some help I am. Money is the benefit of all involved but you didn't need me to tell you that.

Its probally just like prima poker, one alias throughout.
All the MG poker sites are linked so if I am on Royal Vegas, I can play you on Riverbelle.

RV

I have been playing these for a while, and at the time I saw this about there being one alias over the whole MG multiplayer network. The plan is also to expand the number of games available from the present two.

I have not noticed RiverBelle having these, it's not as though they actually told their players!

It can be hard to determine if a tournament is only at a particular casino, or over the entire network unless you try to register.

My main concern is that this could be a huge rip-off. Take the slots tournaments, if every player uses their buy-ins, the income is much greater than the prize pool, and thus gives a far worse deal than the 95% payout expected from the slot as a whole. Sometimes it is best to enter only the paid for tournaments, as far fewer players enter, but the saving is only a fraction, as even the free ones have subsequent buy-ins.

The maths is a little complicated, but it should be possible to estimate whether the casinos are earning more than the appropriate HE of 5% through tournaments.
Despite this, they are a lot of fun, and I would hope casinos would not use them as a vehicle to sneakily gain extra HE over the already high 5% they have on slots.

I now find the tournaments are simply not working, I click on "join" and nothing happens, and I know this is not what is supposed to happen as I have played these before. This comes after a two day spell of no tournaments being available. Some players have managed to enter, so this must be an intermittent problem.

I've had exactly the same problem... for the past 4 days now.

This problem seems to "go away" late evening/after midnight (edt)

I hope they can fix this glitch soon... it's really annoying to enter a tourny... and go to play it 5 minutes prior to the start... and you can't get back in...

Funnily enough, I managed to get in and play late evening, and have noticed the problem of no tournaments being shown often clears late evening, but is back again later.
I have managed to force a register alias from RiverBelle (by clicking on a tournament and getting the registration screen up). I wonder if the addition of RiverBelle screwed up something and caused problems at RV.

It is better late night. It has gotten better I think. I haven't had any problems today anyway. I was frustrated trying to get back in to play the $200 freerolls the other day. I know only freerolls but gets you frustrated just the same. The slot it self would be slow at times for me. I was thinking it was my connection or I had too many things going at once but come to think of it that started happening just before tourney page issue. I haven't noticed the slow spinning now either really. Guess it wasn't me. Got me to clean out some things which was overdue anyway.

I have stopped playing these MG tourneys, until such time as a % of the rebuys are added into the pool.

Can you imagine what poker players would say if their rebuys didnt add to the pool?? It should be the same for the slot tourneys.

The other reason I dont like them now is that the $5 entry fee is almost deceptive - if you want to win top prize, you would almost always have to use all rebuys which makes it actually a $30 tourney. If anyone has won without a rebuy on a regular basis, then I will eat my words.

Some serious adjustments need to be made here IMO

Would you prefer Mustard or Ketchup:D

I ONCE won a tourney without rebuys, but this was due to hitting FIVE scatters, thus no contest. Other than such freaky flukes, it is normally necessary to use all the rebuys.
I find the freerolls are the worst deal of all, because the "free" makes hundreds play, but you only save on the entry fee, not the up to five rebuys. Take the weekender, if you win the free entry, it becomes a $50 tourney instead of a $60 tourney, so there is no point using the rebuys in the satellites.

One tourney well worth a go is the "Great Escape", you merely have to play the game group mentioned to get an entry, and this can be just a couple of low cost spins or hands (no minimum wager is mentioned), also there are NO rebuys, everybody gets 10,000 coins and three days or so to play.

I find the best tournaments are the paid for $200, $500, and $1000 - fewer players because they are not free to enter, but decent prizes if you get a lucky hit or two.

The rebuys not being added to the pool is indeed a big fiddle, as these just go as profit, but we all know that one usually has to use all the rebuys to stand a chance of getting a good score (barring a 5 scatter or 5 wilds start).

Hi, I hate to start off by going off topic but did my post get moved or was my mind mush this morning. I know I previewed it. Did I forget to submit ? It would of been right between Nifty29's post and yours vinylweatherman.

Back to topic- I think Nifty29 goes hungry.

Key word being regular. I think your safe Nifty29. Good thing beause neither ketchup nor mustard really do anthing for the taste.

The freeroll for free weekender entry is still worth the 5 minutes to give it a spin. I didn't use any rebuys to win entry spot. Of course I blew all my luck on winning the free entry and had none to help me in the Weekender itself. The pokerfree rolls now those are a different story. Forget 5 or 10 minutes it's like 2 hours and yahoo you've got your self at least $1. Another 1.5 hours and who knows you could score yourself a five spot. Maybe if your really lucky 10 big ones. Don't get me wrong you can win and I have (awhile ago so wasn't 12000 entries back then). Not worth up to 4 hours of your life though. I still play for fun and try for as long as I can. Usually I'm ready for an all-in suicide attempt when they start slow playing in hopes of cashing for a buck. It's already like 2 hours and they have to slow it down.

The Great Escape is totally worth a spin and no rebuys make it even better. Hope I didn't use all my luck getting entry to the Grand Final. Good thing even last place gets a nice little parting gift. Shoot is that why my post disappeared ? I shouldn't or can't post about that ? If I'm not then please just edit it out. I'd really be thinking I lost it I come back and hmmmm :what: I could swear I posted at least I think.. :what: Was that today or maybe that was yesterday.

The freerolls are effectively pointless now

I came in the top 10 in a couple freeroll tournaments before they took them offline this past week. The couple times I won (piddly amounts), the prizes went into my cash balance.

Today I placed in one of the freerolls, and the $2.00 I got went into my bonus balance.

Now normally, the bonus balance is subject to 30x rollover, and if your balance is ever higher than the initial bonus amount ($2.00 in this case), the extra amount goes into your cash balance.

Today after I got my $2.00 "bonus" I went to Avalon and on the 2nd or 3rd spin I got the free spins, which retriggered, and I ended up with about $20. I left the game and while I was in the lobby I put my mouse over my balance, and noticed that the entire $20 was in the bonus balance, any my cash balance was $0.00. It should have been $2.00 in the bonus and $18.00 in the cash.

So, essentially, if you play your "bonus" on any other games and win, those extra winnings increase your bonus balance and therefore your wagering requirements, meaning that you can never meet the WR, and you will never be able to withdraw.

Now they truly are freerolls, for both the players and the casinos.

(And in case anyone is wondering - no, I had not deposited, taken a bonus and busted out in the same session during which I played the tournament, so it is not the infamous MG WR issue)
