Where is Vinylweatherman?

Good to hear from ya,Vinyl. I have the same sort of problem's with my neck and shoulder's. The right side primarily. Very bad sometimes annoying at best and absolutely eye watering other's. I also went to my VA doc. And he said it may have been from the fact that my chair is lower than my monitor and after so many hours of tilting my head up.A pinched nerve or some sort of neurological problem.

So I adjusted my chair higher and it did not work.:sob: Just today it hit like a bullet and laid me low for about an hour. I can see your pain and I hope only the best. Maybe a larger monitor?

I have a pretty large monitor and it's about eye level. If anything, I look slightly down, not up.

I have a pretty old chair though, so I will look to upgrade.

Doc also told me to get a special supporting pillow that has a contoured neck support - that didn't work either.

I have a new mattress, just waiting for it to stop stinking before I fit it to the bed. WHY do new mattresses STINK so much, and for so long, before one can bear to have them in the same room as oneself:confused:

I took an unusually long break to see if my neck pain, which the doc thinks might be stress and/or posture, would improve. I may have to get a new office chair before I get a new keyboard. Half the keys have been worn blank, hence the occasional typo.

It didn't, it got even worse, so is probably not specifically related to spending too long on the internet forums.

I have watched with considerable dismay the continued implosion of what were once regarded as top notch casinos such as Club World, and it has had me wondering whether the days of online casinos could be coming to an end in favour of some new trend, much as online casinos sidelined the UK fruit machine scene around the turn of the century.

Welcome back Vinyl!

I also have problems with my neck (couse of work), but its been over 6 months now since then and i still have pain almost everyday.. :(
Physical therapy and pain relievers is the only thing that works.

So you've been a bit under the weatherman?:D

I would highly reccommend massages, and not the hard kind (sports-massage/shiatsu), but the very smooth and esoteric kind - Hot Stone Massage! And perhaps combined with a Hawaiian Lomi Lomi..

Trust me, i know some people have bad experiences with massages, but that mostly is due to a bad masseur or masseuse :p
I had similar complaints (still do, but way less, and only because i stopped taking them regularly, as i haven't been able to pay them for a while) and it works wonders: it is important to find a good masseur/masseuse though..worst case scenario you would have to try a few, but when you do find one that has a good sense, i bet you will soon feel much better.

We don't get that on the NHS here, and going private is expensive. I have a massage machine though, and it does work a little.

It seems to have begun during last Summer, and then steadily it has grown worse.

A machine could work:)

I didn't get any NHS support either, although i believe it mostly depends on the severity of your complaints, in combination with the package you are paying for..

But, it normally costs about 30/40 per hour, as far as i know, and you would be lot better if you did this once per week, t lest for a while. Small investment i.m.o., as it's your health, and daily comfort that's at stake, after all!

Regardless of how, i hope you feel better soon

Apologies for the snip.

I believe the idea is to batter the foul stench out of new mattresses via rigorous activity.

Welcome back

I believe the smell from your mattress is a mild form of critter control. The mattress's do sit for long period's of time before sell and critter's do love the inside. You know what I mean, they try to avoid lawsuit's in such a manner.

I pay big money for a king or queen and it would bum me out if there was bed bug's or that mice or rat's had lived inside of my mattress. The object I think is for the smaller one's.BUGS of any sort. :axeman:

My wife bought me a neck massage machine and it does help, BUT it is very mechanical and painful if put on the wrong place. It is a machine after all and it does not feel anything.

I would consider massage if it was available? But I live in the wood's and the nearest town is about 40 miles away.I pay the price for my privacy.Maybe once a month if I can find the right kind,I'm open for just about anything these day's.Peace Out! Out Of The Mist! shewoff

MILD

I had to shut it in the end bedroom, and then shut the door and open the window....... for a WEEK:eek2:

Good to see you back, Vinyl.

Regarding your health issue I presume you've tried a good prescription anti-inflammatory?

On long days at the computer, particularly when combined with overload stress, I have occasionally sustained muscular spasms in the neck and shoulder area which can be extremely uncomfortable and inconvenient... I've found in the past that the stronger anti-inflammatory medications shift the problem reasonably quickly.

I was given some CoCodamol, but due to stomach issues and a hiatus hernia (confirmed via endoscope) I have been advised to avoid Ibuprofen.

I am finding I have a persistent "cramp" in the neck muscles, but it seems to be vicious circle. The doc also said I should try a special pillow, which I did, but with no success.

I have the same PC setup that I have had for many years, but this problem seems to have set in some time last spring and summer. I also bought a massage pillow, one that is portable and can even work off a car's 12v supply. It brings some relief, but it can then make matters worse if I overuse it. The right hand side is by far the most painful, but the left hand side is also stiff.

I will have to go back to the doctor and tell him that so far nothing has worked (he said give it 6 weeks). Unfortunately, getting a GP appointment is like getting paid by a rogue casino:)

I'm told that nowadays great strides have been made with this type of medication, with less risk of stomach lining complications.

I hope you are able to find a solution as I know that this sort of debility can be both painful and frustrating.

As I stated Vinyl,My problem is on the right side predominately. I think from maybe too much mouse use? It would seem that way sometimes, but I will ask(are you right handed)? Maybe that small item we leave our hands on for extent'ed periods of time does take a toll?

censored Who Know's censored

I guess age may have something to do with it in my case?Oh well let the lizard crawl, until you feel him.Peace Out! Out Of The Mist! shewoff

massage, it's absolutely wonderful for the muscles and very relaxing. You may want to give it a try:)

Hope you'll have some good night's rest too once your mattress no longer smells:eek:

Welcome back Vinyl! I have a similar problem. It started out with an odd ache in my neck off and on which I put down to a pulled muscle. Then it got so bad that I couldn't turn my head. Went and got an x-ray and mri and turned out it was arthritis which totally sucks. I take arcoxia for the pain and it does work wonders, only thing is that you have to take something like prilosec to avoid ulcers.

I hope you feel better soon.

Highly recommend you seek out an osteopath for treatment. Have an aunt who had to stop driving, because she did not have enough range in her neck to turn it which posed a risk. After many years of this condition, she started seeing an osteopath and pretty much has full range now and the pain is gone. They can work miracles! I have had osteopathic treatments in the past for back pain. One appointment made a huge difference and I no longer need one now! No sense living in such discomfort when there are remedies. I hope you find relief soon!

The doc is sure it's a muscle problem, so won't refer for X-ray or mri.

It may be possible to get a referral to an osteopath, or if not, a list of approved osteopaths. The problem with "alternative medicine" outside of the NHS is that there are some "cowboy" practitioners in the mix, and avoiding these is important.

It REALLY played up last night. So bad I let Brockley win the 20K at 32Red as I just had to give up before the end:rolleyes:

Buy a gym and start training. If it's the muscles they need to be used. It doesn't hurt to try ;) ...or maybe it will.

oxys aren't I'll find out the actual name of them but they are meant to melt you(mellow you so much it's like you are stoned)

Edit found the name: They are called oxycodone

These are prescription only, and with all the side effects are reserved for when other treatments have failed. If anything, weed, though illegal, is probably a better option. There are some legal derivatives from weed though, the "high" chemicals are removed, but the beneficial ones remain. Still in clinical trials though.

No problem mate. Have you tried going to local sauna? Might relieve the pain a bit too.

There is a new non-high oil that I use. It has CBD's which work on your brain from a different level.Completely legal here ,althou I do not know about the UK? Miracle Smoke is the name of it and I will give the link as soon as I finish this post. I don't have it right off hand.

Perhaps you can Google it? It should be there it is gaining in popularity and as I said I do use it and it does work for some of my nerve problem's from the loss of my leg's.And I have been known to imbibe
the GOOD STUFF too.

Some times a break in the action will help too. I believe in doing whatever work's. And sometimes the doctor's don't have a clue.As in out neck and shoulder problem's.Peace Out! Out Of The Mist! shewoff
