If you are like me and vape, with myself having found vaping as the only 'cure' for my then 20 plus year smoking habit, you will no doubt be aware of the new Vaping Products Duty that comes into force on the 1st October 2026.

This will see the government add a tax of £2.20 per every 10mls of eliquid regardless of whether it contains nicotine or not. It goes without saying that said tax duty will also apply to nicotine shots.

So those of you that buy the cheap 10ml £1 88Vape bottles, will incur a 220% increase and see the price rise to £3.20. It is even worse for those of us that buy flavouring concentrates and add Nic Shots to them. I buy in bulk normally a 500ml bottle of concentrate and receive enough nic shots to make up bottles to the strength of 3mg - 6mg - This order costs me currently £26, but will sky rocket to well over £100.

As such I have gone into hoard mode. See below.

Now shops and online retail sites will still be able to sell pre 1st Oct manufactured stock without the new duty and they have until 1st March 2027 to do so. So again at the end of this month I will be putting in another big order. Then following up every month thereafter until the end of February.

So far this is what I have :D

This shelf has just over 500mls of made up eliquid in 30ml and 50ml bottles. Whilst my cupboard below has over 1ltrs worth of 10ml 18mg Nic Shots and 2ltrs of flavouring concentrate.

Tbh I'm hoping the new tax will help me give it up. I've been vaping ever since they were little more than fake cigarette type things and have gone through the whole home made juice thing as well as smoking for 15 years prior.

Currently just using high capacity disposables for convenience but I'm not feeling particularly good on them - very high strength and I get red/bloodshot eyes, a hacking cough and headaches so time to hopefully break the addiction. Basically time to stop inhaling anything except air into my poor suffering lungs.

Looks like a crystal meth lab.

The only way they affect me sometimes is a chemical/sweet smell when I breathe in when not vaping, possibly connected to the fact they make me sneeze sometimes, which could in turn be because my sense of smell is awry since I got the Wuhan Wheeze back in 2021.

ecigclouds btw was great advice Dave!

Yep eCigclouds. Best online retailer in the UK bar none for vaping :)
I still use everything liquid - especially for their 72mg nicotine. I have just invested in a new mini freezer for the garage as going to stock up for the next few years.

Interestingly as part of the change, you can be fined if you mix liquid that has not had the tax paid on it (e.g. using store bought pg or vg from food outlets. Not quite sure how they will prove it lol

Its a shame its gone this way. But some countries have already completley banned it and others (e.g. the usa) were charging more for vaping products than cigarettes 10 years ago

Hate to point out mate, it's £2.64 not £2.20 - the £2.20 is pre-tax - VAT is then added taking it to £2.64 increase per 10ml

£4.63 for 10ml Nic Salt!!! Frightening!!

This is not being introduced under the pretence of protecting the children. It is basically trying to recoup the tax revenue they have lost from people kicking cigarettes and turning to vaping.

The idea of buying a mini freezer is actually a good idea, something I will look into over the next six months, as I plan to stock up as much I can.

100% get the freezer - nicotine will last years in a freezer. I'm coming to the end of a bottle that's been in there for about 4 years and no issues with it. It's a bit like vodka in that it won't freeze, just goes a bit sludgy. Take it out and let it sit at room temp for 20mins and it's good to add to a base mix.

The tax was always going to happen at some point

It will be weird - everyone usually knows at least one dodgy newsagent in their area that sells cheap cigs were the owner looks around and pulls them from under a counter

In the future they will be pulling out 10ml bottles of cotton candy or cherry menthol and trying to not look like they have just dropped you an 8ball over the counter

Well I suppose one good thing will come out of this tax, all these vape shops that have popped up all over the country will close.

It is the 'proper' real independent specialists and online stores I feel sorry for. They will likely close down.

As for storing nic, did that after the TPD came in, it goes the colour of tar if not kept in a freezer after a certain amount of time!

I am already thinking ahead in that respect. There are lots of recipes online regarding making your own flavouring.

Yeah I'm looking at them myself lol

Up your nicotine as well mate from the 18mg

Using 72mg, 30ml nicotine makes 1 litre of base liquid at 3mg - so put of a 1 litre bottle of 72mg i get 33 litres of base

Can be tricky to get the 72mg as it's technically illegal to purchase in UK, but the site i use ship it from a pharmaceutical lab in europe
