I'm sick and tired of complaining to Live Supports about the tournaments on Microgaming sites. I've just had another go at Platinum Play.
First off, its the top scores, these are nigh on impossible to get in the five minutes play you are given, but what pees me off even more, is, if you manage to hit the free spins feature (which is very rare), all the reels just spin continuously, so you have to log out and back in. By then, what little time you had anyway, has gone.
I spoke to Live Support who gave me the usual pitiful response,"sorry, you must have lost connection". After more ear-bashing he said " so sorry, we have no control over the connection or the games". Seems like all they are there for is to tell you how to make a deposit, no problems there are there?
I know I'm probably not the first to post ths complaint, but why does it happen only on tournaments, and only when you have a slim chance of hitting some big points? When I have the funds, I have played for up to 12 hours at a time without even a glitch in my connection, so it cant be that excuse every time.
This NEVER happens when I play tournaments on the Vegas Tech sites

I miss playing in those tourneys, atleast your still able to play, so thats a good thing.

Those glitches do seem to happen tho' and are frustrating so i know how you feel.

Agree...

This glitch happened to me as well when I was on a slower connection. However it rarely happens now that I have a quicker connection
However, I do agree with you that the scores on these games seem near impossible as quickly as they seem to appear. I will only play FREE games now and they won't be getting anymore money from me because I really feel they are tampered with. Sad but true. Mircrogaming has changed in more ways than one.
Good Luck All!!

I refuse to buy into any more MG tournaments unless they have 5 or less continues. Some of them are just ridiculous, 1000 :eek2: continues at $3 apiece for a top prize of $750. WTF.

Even the 'good' casinos are doing tourneys like this now with 100 continues. Even if I end up in the top 10 on my first round I don't rebuy - what's the point of wasting my money when someone with more money will just come and bump me out anyhow?

32RED has one going now...999 continues for $5.- each, top prize is $250 bonusmoney..
Just look at the top-10, all of them spent way more than they can possibly win...in bonusmoney!
I got lucky with my first round, did 3 continues, and as it looks now I might win a $50 bonus.
Cant blame 32RED, they did so many great tourneys in the past, and their daily freeroll is the best one/most fair one on the net.
Some ppl just want to win, no matter what it may cost them.

About the disconnects, it seems alot better than it was a few months ago, I get disconnected once in a while (and its VERY frustrating, yes), but not as often as last year, when playing a tourney was almost impossible without getting booted.

Maybe we should push for some tournament rules to be added to the accredited casinos.... IE. A certain % of tournaments have to have zero rebuys, max rebuys under 5 etc etc....

I would love to see true tournaments where you pay your entry fee plus a 1% rake or something and whoever wins wins without players buying the top spots. I find that sucks the fun out of the entire thing.

On a side note, I always wondered how the tournaments figure into the casino's payout %... (Maybe that is where all the confiscated funds go) :eek2:

Since the RTP of rebuys and continues is ZERO, I doubt these cost the casinos much money. They are ALREADY protected from running these at a loss because they get cancelled unless a minimum number of players register.

Forget about 1% rake, the rake on these is 100%!!!!!!!

The problems ONLY seem to affect the tournaments, and NEVER the normal gameplay in the lobby, therefore CS blaming a "poor connection" is BULLSHIT!!!! The problem lies with MGS and the tournament system.

As well as disconnects, there are often delays, eating up precious time, and the games play MUCH MUCH MUCH FASTER in "normal" mode (even on the SLOWEST of connections). IF the tournament versions of the games DID work as well as in "normal" mode, there would be virtually NO complaints. MGS have failed miserably to get a grip on the problems with the tournaments, because they have buried their heads in the sands and refuse to acknowledge that problems like this even exist.

Thumbs down for sheep-like players putting up with this crap

MG deserves to take all of the money they can get their hands on until the players smarten up and STOP PLAYING in tournaments where all the rebuy money goes straight into the casino's pocket. Poker players would riot in the streets if the prize pool funding and payout structures for Hold'em etc. were done like this, but the sheep, er slot players seem to happily throw their money away over and over again. I used to despise the way MG disrespected their players, but it's been going on for so long that I have to put the blame back on the players for putting up with their shiat and making it an acceptable business practice.

Well, MGS did sort of "smarten up", but only by inventing a new way to rip us off. IN came first the "unlimited continue" and "unlimited rebuy" concept, whilst the prize pools NEVER increased no matter HOW many "unlimited" rebuys and continues were bought. Next came the breaking of the "one alias over the entire network" link, supposedly a TEMPORARY measure JUST to allow casinos to use free passes to the Grand Slam, yet was NEVER EVER altered back. This means that not only have we "unlimited" rebuys and continues, but near "unlimited" ALIASES too. This allows players to buy their way to the top in pretty much every tournament, often at a loss. There is no place any longer for the recreational player who hopes to get a top prize from one lucky run, since some other player would simply throw money at the tournament to unseat him, often at a loss.

I rarely play these now, not even the FREE ones. When they started, I OFTEN played them, both free AND paid entry ones.

i cannot stress how much this has been eating me ever since microgaming was my favourite of the big platforms, i totally comfirmed with my own eyes and deductive capabilities, that indeed the players that win these tourneys, end up being minus EV/profitless, or better said, rip themselves off.
i also made a few coments in several threads, not only on this forum, and even my own thread, asked CM to check this in that "microgaming meeting", but didnt really get an answer, that was satisfying,
I still cant believe people are so dimwitted, to go for a certain loss.
I also never rebuy, unless i get a MAJOR run by accident, and the tourney is almost over, and it might get me a good profit..
So i keep thinking something is wrong...
either this is a player ring, or hired peepz from the casinos or mg themselves, not nescessarily the top, but somewhere in the organisation....maybe even the support team.. lol.
Im sorry but i refuse to believe that the majority of gamblers doesnt realize they are losing money to be nr 1 on a list, and would actually choose for that.
I can believe one or two out of a 100 would be so "silly" but thats not the numbers we are seeing..
So, i m slowly moving away from mg, although i love their slots...
This cant be for real imo, and i hope to see this thread bumped very often, or similar threads pop up.

The alternative is "looks can be deceiving", and in fact these players ARE winning, or believe this strategy will give them a long term profit.
Remember, if you enter with multiple aliases from different MGS accounts, you can receive MORE THAN ONE PRIZE from the same tournament. Rebuying in a single account is NOT as profitable as entering once with many different aliases over many different MGS accounts. If the first round is free, players need only continue where they have done well. This strategy is also effective where there are limited rebuys per alias.

The loss of US players has reduced the potential field a great deal, and may have presented an opportunity to cash in on some tournaments run under the old formats, and retaining the old prize pools.

Maybe one of these players could tell us WHY they are so keen to pour money into what looks like a guaranteed losing proposition. It may be nothing more than a manifestation of their ego, and they are prepared to spend money to be "number one" in the public eye.
