the WTF thread

Cant remember any actual ringtones, but i remember changing it alot, creating new ones with that built in composer thing.
Used to be able to find songs/codes in some magazines so you could add new.
My first phone was a Nokia 3210, later upgraded to the indestructible 3310.
I still have the 3310 in a drawer somewhere, dont have the charger anymore tho, so unfortunately i cannot see if it will start.

It all seems so long ago now
Incidently I am on a Lily Allen binge now

Phones were being upgraded to quickly.
I didnt have enough time to beat the snake game that was on nokia 3310.
Got close a couple of times, theres so much at stake when you are close to winning.

I recall buying the latest mobile just before going to work in Val Des Aire way back and all of the students working there where impressed with me having it.
Needless to say that was the last time I impressed a student!

Only time ive had a new model was when htc released their first smartphone.
That was not a good investment, but the phone was nice, and i had fun with it.
Things were happening so fast so my phone was obsolete like 6 momths later.

The phone that I mentioned in my last post was shit a year later. I only bought it so I could communicate with my kids and those back home easier. But feck me it cost a fortune using it

Ha ha. Are you sure that your not from Darlington and he is not Irish?
I am sure that your accom at Catterick was very basic to say the least but the mess prices where bloody lovely? :)

First ringtone was of course the orginal Nokia sound. Everyone at school needed to know you dont have just any of the cheap mobiles, no, you are cool enough to have one of the super expensive Nokias. :D

Some people take that a bit too far. =)

mmmm.webp

Breathtaking scenes from Iceland taken by drones. The heat the drones where subjected too must have been very high.

No way would I go anywhere near that what with the gases and the danger of being killed. Some seem just yards away

Saw a video about it the other day.
Like you said, people seem really calm about it, getting really close.
The volcano seems to be alot calmer in the video i watched, but still spewing out lava.

Etna is busy too. Imagine trying to keep indoors clean?

Makes me appreciate living in a place thats more or less without natural disasters.
We may get massive amounts of snow, but not anything i would call a disaster.
When it comes to earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanoes etc etc, we have it pretty good over here.

Apart from floodings, England is spared the worst by nature aswell, right?

Scotland suffers from 19 degree heatwaves every now and then.

And we get so used to the driving rain, we end up missing it. Note: it's not rain in a car.

But yeah, apart from the SNP, there aren't many natural disasters :p

Unless you include England getting beat by San Marino on Thursday

Not surprising though, especially when you consider the many things politicians have done/not done: they needed to have a nuke, they went in with a toothpick as a weapon. Plus, they have their wee pow wow with the Greens to push it down.

Never know though, might be things going on behind the scenes that may see her stand aside at some point, but i doubt it. Reckon they're all shit scared of her.

I wonder what damage her behavior has done to her independence cause? I think that will be the thing that either saves her skin or pushes her out

If you believe the polls, the supports been dipping: think there was one last year at 56% to leave, now in and around the bottom 50's; so i think the infightings had an effect. They've always wanted to portray themselves as above liars in the Tory Party (their thoughts) and it's probably taken a shine off it for some. That being said, short memories and all that, i wouldn't be surprised to see it rise again back to that level.

Whether she gets her dream or not, not sure, but it's going to be a close call: lots of moving parts at the moment and, after the pandemic and Brexit, the timings going to be key. I'd hazard a few quid though it'd be a very narrow Yes vote if held in the next 6months still (not that it'll happen)

Opposition parties here made an arse of it themselves - calling for her to leave without the report being published - the actual committee at the end of last week was a joke - all sides voting along party lines; each entered that enquiry already knowing what they were voting for.

We did have this one big storm a couple of years ago.
So i guess it can get pretty rough here aswell.

I'm not really up to speed with the latest in Scotland regarding their finances but the last time I looked income from North Sea Gas had been hit hard. With climate change etc the requirement in future of gas could be in decline. With that and the results of brexit at the moment are Scotland even more reliant on England bailing them out?

I heard a WTF the other day that the UK has more tornados than the US per square mile. But ours are mostly small and rarely do any damage.

Chavs are probably our biggest natural disaster at the moment and mopeds.
Whatever happened to the outrage about men in beards, posh breakfast cafes and the gentrifying of areas in the UK?

Sean connery as robin hood was a good film, russel crowe's a ludicrous, hammed up abomination.

I wonder how long some of those things were in development, and what's stopping someone from making a challenger to twitter, but like all these 'successful/popular' things you have to get the name right, so it sticks.

 I'm probably talking or wittering to myself here.

This is a fascinating watch that turns the population growth/decline question on its head with compelling argument.

Maybe Joe has it right in opening up the boarders to the predominantly young and Trump got it all wrong in building the wall? And maybe in the long term China are not going to take over the world long term unless they do something very drastic now?
