The FBI proclaims online gambling is illegal.

....You can go to Vegas. You can go to Atlantic City. You can go to a racetrack. You can go to those places and gamble legally. But dont do it online. Its against the law, says Leslie Bryant, head of our Cyber Crime Fraud unit at FBI Headquarters.

....

Ummm.... except for betting on horse races. And, and uh... maybe fantasy football (players can win money and prizes I think?).... and uh.... most state lotteries allow players to buy their tickets within their state online. Excuse me Mr or Ms. Leslie Bryant ... but exactly where (in all that legal mumbo jumbo of whereases and wherefores) do those laws tell me :

"It is illegal for any and all U.S. citizens to gamble on slots, video poker, keno, bingo, and card games on the internet." ??

OH REALLY? I haven't heard one FBI arrest of a US citizen because of playing blackjack, slots, keno, and other non-sportsbetting games online. If they like to start, then there's a certain guy I know

I want to poke my finger in her eye!

That is quite amazing. If the FBI don't know their own laws, what chance has anyone got? Or is it scaremongering perhaps?

Wow... ROTF LMAO... Just how much did I miss !?? (geeze get sick for a couple a days and whamm...... )

Now that is a joke... and what do they mean by
and Indian gaming sites that arent strictly defined as Internet gambling.
Indian gaming sites! Than all online casino's should claim to be part Navahoe, etc! (JK) I thinks it's absurd!

a dozen cases

I didn't read this entire thread so I apoligize if this has already been discussed, but did anyone stop to ponder this bit... "We currently have about a dozen of these cases in motion."

We know about Bet on Sports and Neteller, so that's two. I guess since 888 is in discussion with the Feds, they are in discussions for a reason. We can safely say BogDog has a mountain of sealed indictments waiting... but who are the others? Any ideas?

I guess thye'd have to go after Poker Stars. Micogaming and the software providors are likely candidtes. No idea if Party Gaming will skate out since they, it looks like wisely, promtly stoped taking US customers. I guess the other payment processros are all vulnerable as well.

Anyway, a dozen sounds like there will be a slew of new headlines in the months to come.

So to whom do the necks in the noose belong do ya think?

SPORTS BETTING

All the arrests the DOJ have done have been based on wagering on Sports, which IS specifically illegal in the USA. Either these guys have taken sports bets (betonsports) or they have 'enabled' a sports bet to take place (Neteller).

So if you have been a part of sports betting, you should be afraid, very afraid.

But the DoJ KNOWS that it can NOT even get a case in the front door of the Court based on someone playing Poker or Casino Gambling at a an Online Casino.

This is ALL just scare tactics by the DoJ. You know, a bluff. The DoJ hope no one calls them and that everyone just lays down their cards and goes home...

Look at Larry Flint of Hustler Magazine, the DoJ went after him for years, tried to put him in prison for life and even tried to get him killed... But he won it all, just by calling their bluff. I guess the Porn Guy just has more balls than the Gambling Guys...
