Team Competitions

Hi chaps,

I'm thinking it may be time to do something different with the competitions. Now that I'm ready to start the "spot comps", I'm thinking it might be fun to have "team competitions" to liven it up and add a bit of community spirit to the gambling which you lack playing solo at a casino.

The way I see it working, is that "captains" here create teams of maybe 5 players and choose a Team name. These would sensibly be a mix of low/medium rollers, people from different time zones and maybe even different skills. I know primarily Slot Junkies has been slots based, but I could see it adding other games to the armoury.

A "spot comp" would be a competition at a given time on a given day. Each team puts forward one or two players and the best win takes a point for the team, and a cash prize to the winning player. The competition might typically set a wager level, a specific game, a timeframe (ie: 1 hour) and the casino to play at (who would also put up the prize).

The mechanism is pretty much all there using the SJ website and database. Just need to add "team" info and groupings. Also, I have spoken to several casinos who are up for giving out prizes on "spot comps" too. Using the new "game buddy", which you can run in a browser or as your desktop, you'd have inline chat between the competitors and instant screenshot uploads during the comp.

An example of a typical competition for example might be: Saturday @10pm GMT for 1 hour on Thunderstruck. Stake $1.35. Prize $50. Team points for the winner: 2.

I would maybe need someone to help me on the "Refereeing" front mind not being able to keep my eyes open round the clock, but then we could have the comps at all times of day to suit the different timezones!

Then I'd use the Slot Junkies Leaderboard to build up a "Team League".

What do you think?

Cheers

I really like the idea. Just remember I'm a blonde and need to make sure I know the correct time since I have a problem trying to change it into Eastern Standard Time..:)

Lol. I can get round that by implementing a "world clock" in the Game Buddy I'm sure.

Hands full

I have my hands full trying to get my MG casinos working properly after Avalon etc.
All Slots freezes on load till I change focus in Windows, which seems to free it up, damn thing then has no sound at times.

Do I get compensation if the Game Buddy crashes my PC good and proper?

Do I need a new PC?

Do I need a deposit match bonus? (That was a rhetorical question).

Interesting idea though, teams could be country against country, or any other combination where members have a common link.

Even with Broadband, I do not have my PC on all the time, and can be doing other things, as probably are others. It is likely that team members will not be able to compete in all the spot cometitions.

Stake levels and rules should not be such as to encourage players to gamble beyond their means in order to not let the team down.

It's a pearler idea Simmo

Very good point!

Since putting the breaks on my wicked gambling ways I've dropped my bets down to 45cents. For me $1.35 a spin would be a bit steep under the circumstances. If you offered something in my current level range I'd be in it for sure :)

Good point that. I'd probably set a "minimum amount" rather than a set amount then, perhaps with the highest "minimum" game being $3, with several low-roller comps, a few in the middle ground there - you get the idea. $3 is the equivalent of a "Major Millions" jackpot spin.

Countries as teams is "ok", but bearing in mind comps will run at different times, it would probably be an advantage to have a member or two in different timezones.

I'm kinda thinking along the old "Clan" idea of FPS games like Quake, Doom etc, but only loosely as a sort of "wrapper" for the idea.

Yup, it's a great idea, but $1.35 a spin is a bit steep for us lowrollers.

I think this is a great idea and would love to participate, but I do agree that the structure of the teams needs to allow room for high and lowrollers. Giving the teams a spread of all time zones sounds like the way to go as well.

:D Would like to see this come together :D

I'd suggest men vs. women, but I'm afraid we're outnumbered, lol. And at present time, $1.35 is a bit much for me as well. I'll have to see how things go in the next week or two. Solid idea though Simmo. I love these community spirit type things. :D

Just to reiterate, $1.35 was merely an example. I can see competition at $0.54, $0.90, $1.80 etc etc in here...a real mashup.
