Hey...we're all keen on gambling and punting. I have my superstitions when I gamble like a lucky piece of jewellry I have hanging round my neck whenever I play. Not that it helps me too often...I'm in a bit of a drought right now.

So...what are your supserstitions when it comes to gambling...c'mon, we've all got them!!! ;)

I dont have one yet but I seem to wear my flipflops every time I go to a casino. Maybe thats a start for me.

I noticed at the land Casino I played at yesterday some people rub their screens before they spin. I asked what they were doing (thinking maybe I was missing something) they said they were rubbing it for luck. They were dead serious.:) What ever works!!!

My friend told me she saw a woman who carried a mini troll doll around with her. When she started playing a machine she rubbed the screen, propped up the troll doll against it then started playing. When she hit a bonus round, she would add muju by rubbing the dolls hair on the screen! oga booga! (maybe I should get one!)
:)

Major Freak

I love playing Black Jack alone...

When going to a land based casino, I hate when people sit at my table... even more if they close.

Oftenly I would stand up and leave... but due to my compulsive behavior most of the times I stay and lose everything:thumbsup:

I love playing 2 hands by myself...

Prayer?- Science rather.

Don't know if it's superstition...
I just pray:D ..before starting the game...but Gods have something else more important to solve at the moment:oops:

It's a deity issue. Most gods do not approve of gambling, and prayer only serves to draw attention to the fact that you are about to sin. No surprise that it doesn't work!
I believe that Greek, Norse and Roman gods were more flexible on such issues, and it may help to research which deity is most likely to respond positively to such prayer.
Lady Luck is often invoked as a substitute for a full blown deity.

I rely on the "lucky deposit" method. Rather than throw the whole lot in one casino, I try to cycle the funds between casinos till I find one that just "feels right" on the day. I will then play here the most.
I also rely on "Lucky Science", this has to do with looking at promotions at the casinos. One type of promotion that is good for slots players is the cashback. Palace Group occasionally ffer 50% back on slot losses (I once even saw 60%). This suits high variance play, where you keep everything if you hit the big one, but if you are just sucked dry you will at least get a chunk back to have another go at the big one. I would then play the slots that sucked the worst earlier with the cashback, hoping that variance will even out and I will be restored to the 95% house edge.
In some respects, 50% cashback is better than a 50% deposit bonus, as WR only kick in if it becomes necessary to ask for the 50% back!

I agree with vinyl that using cashback is a great idea especially for a high variance player. However, it is important to note that variance does not 'even out' results in the way described above. The more you play, the more you are likely to deviate from your expected total result (I know, the thread is about superstitions but I just couldn't keep myself from pointing that out  )

Back to the subject: I like to have 'company' when I play poker. Usually a rubber duck, a plastic frog or something like that. They comfort me when I lose and reminds me that the losses really are unimportant :)

I must disagree

The more a game is played, the more likely the outcome is to meet the expected result, which is to lose 4% to 5% of total throughput. Naturally, this does not mean that balance is restored during the play of the cashback, it could be next week, month etc. However, the advantage is having the use of free money with a WR only when losing, but winnings can be taken immediately. With the new bonus system, deposit bonuses are no longer the millstone they used to be, and can be approached as a pre-credited cashback that can be sacrificed when ahead (except at Casino Action, where different rules seem to apply to EZBonus early cash-in).
I have played alot of these promotions at Palace Group, and appear even over all the sites after 2 years of high variance play. The house edge has been satisfied mostly by losing back the promotional cashbacks and bonus money.

The relative result (measured in % of the total stake) will get closer and closer to the house edge. That is true. However the absolute result (measured in dollars) will be further away from the expected result.

There is no difference between playing when you have lost a million betting units, from playing for the first time. You are always 'even' when you start.

It's a case of how you view it, however the point is that when down, wagering is done with the casino's money (the cashback), thus the total bankroll is 50% larger when you have a short bad run, but does not shrink by 50% when you start with a good run. This has an overall effect of reducing the nett house edge of the games from the point of view of the player's own deposited amounts. Deposit bonuses have a similar effect, but are tied by WR from the start, and playing into a bad streak becomes necessary in order to cash out quickly.

I only play in my brithday suite, seems like its been really lucky lately. You should see the looks I get at land based casinos. :D
