The votes are in and student voters have spoken:

Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama  is the winner of the 2008 Scholastic Election Poll, with 57% of the vote over Republican contender Senator John McCain, who received 39% of the student vote.

Source?

How many schools was this poll taken at?

err:

Link Removed ( Old/Invalid)

The poll was open to kids from grades 1 to 12 in Scholastic News and Junior Scholastic magazines.

Sorry, but this poll doesn't show anything.....how can a 7 year old actually know what's at stake and make a logical decision as to who's the best candidate to lead our country? I'd almost bet that 9 times out of 10 their teacher would sway them one way or another :)

I knew there was a reason that you have to be 18 to vote....:p

PRINCETON, NJ -- Barack Obama maintains a lead over John McCain in the latest Gallup Poll Daily tracking update from Saturday through Monday; the size of the lead varies between seven and 10 percentage points among likely voters, depending on turnout assumptions.

It's not looking too good right now for the McPalin Campaign judging by all the tracking polls out as of yesterday !!

Maybe if they get the campaign out of the gutter and stop all the hate-mongering then it may help. :D

and just what side are you talking about?:D i have seen more hate- mongering on these political rants and so many created for just that in mind, more than you would see on t.v or at a political rally, for either side you favor........just my opinion;)..............laurie

Not only are they hate mongers, but they don't even know what ACORN actually does!

Grandmother sues McCain for hate speech

A Kansas City grandmother is suing John McCain and Sarah Palin for promoting hate speech. Mary Kay Green told KSHB that some statements at McCain campaign rallies terrify her as much as the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

"I know the secret service is on this case, but John McCain and Sarah Palin can stop some of this by a statement that they abhor these death threats and will not tolerate them," said Green.

The 66-year-old civil attorney, a lifelong Democrat, claims in the suit that the McCain campaign has intentionally and recklessly portrayed Barack Obama as a terrorist.

Green said, "You have to take these things seriously."

Green believe that Palin has been working crowds into a frenzy. There have been reports from McCain campaign rallies with words like "kill him," "off with his head," and "Muslim terrorist."

According to Green, her father managed the Nebraska campaigns of John and Robert Kennedy. After both were felled by assassins, her father died "of grief."

"I think John McCain and Sarah Palin have no understanding of what we went through as a nation," she said. "[The lawsuit] will be dismissed as soon as I hear public statements from these two candidates that they abhor these death threats and that they will not tolerate these intruders in their audiences."

All John McCain will say is that these are true patriots at his and Palins rallies...that's one of the very reasons that Colin Powell endorsed Obama and some other true conservative republicans are doing the same !!

Not cool, Gamtrak - especially after the moderator's warning earlier. You don't even know the poster you are insulting here for expressing an opposing view.

You know, People,

This Gamtrak seems bound and determined to make as many enemies as possible here at Casinomeister, not to mention she gets a kick out of "dissing" members in good standing here. She seems to enjoy being rude and disrespectful to all that simply do not share her views.

Here's a suggestion to any and all that really think she is "out of line". Use the ignore button that is available to all of us here. If no one reads her nastiness or responds to her taunts and belligerence, she will find herself with no audience. Perhaps she will crawl back into the hole she crawled out of, you think?

Thank goodness, the world has more nice folks than people like her.

<sigh>

Although provoked, this sort of response is not helping the situation, I'm afraid.

And using the ignore button or "keeping out of the political kitchen" deprives readers of all the views on an interesting topic.

Surely the optimum solution is personal discipline here so that we can all benefit from following a key election in the USA?

OMG Jet! Is that what this thread is about? ;)

The problem with dismissing others views out of hand is that you cause opinion to be polarized causing intellectual stagnation.
If you have a passionate opinion about something and want others to feel the same way then you should be prepared to test your belief to the point of destruction in open debate.
That means listening to what other people think.
If your belief is destroyed accept you were wrong but don't treat it as a defeat, you will be wiser and stronger for it, we learn from our mistakes.

Normal service will now be resumed. :eek2:

I saw two of the kids that participated in the poll inverviewed on CNN.

 A poll by the far leftist news network CNN? What a surprise at the results!:p

Of course kids and welfare recipients love Obama, neither group has to get up and go to work in the morning.

Hopefully we can move past the kiddy jabs at the poor and less fortunate than you and discuss issues???

It would be nice to see some content related to the topics of my threads being posted before the election. :p

CNN is one of the best out there. You might want to give em a chance and learn a bit more than you do now. :)

Sorry about that Casinomeister. I'll be on my best behavior from now on and not let anyone cause me to do another personal attack on one of your members again as long as I can get the same respect from them.
